Yeah the Autobahn...... Canada is 100kmph on the highway.

110 on major divided highways.  Which means you can do 120km/h without the risk of a ticket.

Do you in USA really have such a ridiculous speed limit on your high ways?

I read somewhere from 60 to 75 MPH depending on state. No wonder there are so many speeders on a compete straight road that must be boring as hell.

And just to mock you. Here in Germany, on our highways, we don't have a speed limit at all.  Grin (on some sections at least)

It's between 55 to 85 MPH depending on a state, I drove from CA to FL and a good portion of I40 was at 90-100MPH (the poor Gold TDI with a huge trailer behind couldn't push more).  Overall speed limits in Europe are 110 or 120km, I saw 130km in France.

But.. We don't have speed cameras, and going 10 miles over the limit is the norm around here. I also would say roads are much better in Europe, in US most of the interstates are two lanes. In Europe 3 lanes at minimum, 4 usually. And of course the quality of payment is worse here, European roads are much more expensive also (tolls).

People speed around here too.. Tickets are handed out.. I speed all the time when it's safe to do so. When my son is not in the car and the weather permits.

I have never received a speeding ticket in my 14 years of driving.

My Volvo tops out @ about 270kmph...... Smiley

In our country, although accidents happen absolutely every day, people still drive fast. Mostly people freshly out of their teens. And no one really pays tickets here.

No it's really not.

10-20mph over the limit in non residential areas while the weather permits it might be safe driving if you're not a moron.
That's you judgement.  I drive how ever fast I feel is safe, for I must trust my own judgement, not others.

Well continue driving like a stupid kid! You'll kill someone or yourself.

Driving 100 down the freeway is safe driving, as long as you don't doubt yourself.

Don't stress it, dawg.  Driving takes confidence and trust in yourself.  Just believe you won't fuck up and you'll do your best.

Have all the confidence and trust in the world.. The road is still full of idiot drivers.

If you pay attention and drive safe you'll be fine..

I once had a crash when I was a new driver. Hit a licked up Mercedes at a red light with my rusty Mitsubishi. That guy wasn't amused with the hood lifted and the custom paint all effed. But insurance paid and he cooled out when he understood I wasn't trying to rip him off. Cause I could've sold it as if he had hit me instead.

It wouldn't have been worth it, anway. I didn't care about a makeover for my car at the time.

will i get a ticket in the mail?
Unlikely. The reason red-light cameras take two pictures in quick succession is to tell (by how far your car traveled between the two pictures) whether you were actually running the red light or if you just stopped a little bit over the line. You probably won't get a ticket in the latter case.

Your 100% right, thanks.
I really am a good driver  Smiley
so what i made a mistake  while i was lost on my first long drive...

will i get a ticket in the mail?

probably not.  the camera sees motion headed towards the intersection and starts the photo sequences (and video too for some).  technically they might be able to ticket you for not staying behind the crosswalk but that's not likely unless either you hit (or nearly hit) a pedestrian.  Or else if they needed a reason to pull you over and that was the best they could come up with.

you should be fine.

I hope so, new drivers only have 4 demerit points...
