What is the rest of the money going to be used for?

Ad revenue will be used to help the community. Hosting the Bitcoin Wiki is an example of this. I also want to promote development of Bitcoin Core and other core Bitcoin technology.

Donations were meant to be used for running this site, creating software, etc. In order to use donations for other things, donators would need to agree to it. I might pursue this later. There's plenty of ad revenue to use first.

Ah, so they're still doing the treasury thing.

Oh dude, let's do some math. The first donator tier is 10BTC, the second is 50BTC.
Let's say each of them have 50 people.
Before you do math, do some research:

Please Sir, we do not question Grand Master Theymos. Not to mention, please go to this link: http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/bitcointalk.org .

Wow my two altcoin mining pool websites are worth $200 combined.  Shocked

Oh dude, let's do some math. The first donator tier is 10BTC, the second is 50BTC.

Let's say each of them have 50 people.

50 x 50 = 2,500
50 x 10 = 500

Donations together equals 3,000BTC. 3,000BTC is currently $1,694,000 USD!

They pull in $1,099,260 USD per month. And $13,191,120 USD per year.

Where the hell is all of that money going? No, where is the money, exactly?

(Not to imagine the shitload they want for advertising.)

No, the forum funds are at 6000 btc.

As you can see it's not a problem anymore. He is clearly saying "that bitcoins belong me and I can spend to where I want". There is no word to say..

I'm probably not going to pay people large amounts in advance (and certainly nowhere near 5500 BTC).

I'm thankful the funds are finally being used for forum development.

However, the funds amount to about $3 million, which is an extremely large amount of money. Being incredibly generous I cannot see the project costing more than 20% of that.

What is the rest of the money going to be used for?

In seriousness, I have no idea. I think they're still allowing people to hold the forum's money.

But BitcoinTalk has enough money for a thousand ponds full of as much coke as possible, and to have a all hooker party at the Ritz.

I heard the rest of the money was for a pizza party somewhere in the Caribbean. Every Bitcoiner in the world is invited to attend. Several million dollars in pizza is all we can afford so the party is BYOB.

Is it allowed to create own forum and advertise here?

I'm sure it's allowed as long as you don't spam it all over. Having a link in your signature or creating a thread announcing it is fine as far as I know. Other people have before.

There's nothing stopping mods or users of this forum from creating their own place. There are also other forums available, but if people can create an even better one then they should go ahead.

I had my own forum for a bit, but then I got tired of working on it and just stopped. And you are correct, if people don't like how this forum is being run, they can create their own. Even if they do like how this forum is being run, you can create your own. If you can create better features, people will join, tis as simple as that.

Theymos seems pretty qualified. The forum (although currently not pristine) is very fast and well managed. From what I've seen.
You can go make your own forum, but I'm staying here.

Me. I've launched it a week ago, so it's of no surprise that it's almost unknown. However it's growing well.

I guess that i can spam my signature here, right?
The alternative is already in place and working just fine. As long as theymos won't fight us, users will be able to move to Bitcointa.lk

That being said, what theymos is doing is pioneering yet another hybrid. I don't think it will succeed. I don't think it stands a chance. However it's not exactly the worst way possible of spending forums' money, and i could be wrong.

A most popular bitcoin forum must not managed by a kid have a lot of money and authorization. Clearly his behaves will give harm to bitcoin ecosystem in near future. I would strongly recommend to create new forum by other members like mods or RELIABLE users. Also I don't believe that open-source software which costs thousand of bitcoins, as other members.

There's nothing stopping mods or users of this forum from creating their own place. There are also other forums available, but if people can create an even better one then they should go ahead.
It's worth saying that there are actually many other forums based around bitcoin, but they haven't been as successful as this one. If the OP doesn't like it here, he should go ahead and try other forums.

Yeah, this is still the best and most popular at the moment and it's incredibly difficult to build up a userbase as large as it has, but I'm sure it's possible a better or competing one could rise up, but I'd rather stick with this place for now unless there is a clear advantage to using another forum.
