I'm guessing it'll be around 60-70BTC due to current bitcoin price?

I'm interested regardless. I think everyone is. Just do it Cheesy The demand is definitely there.

The pricing formula is described in the first post and has nothing to do with the BTC exchange rate.

to shred some light, the model is already made, as we have many prototypes and designs in house, it was a matter of if there's enough demand to warrant a batch.

If not, it'll just get made in a later timeline, for next generation for example.

Bro, don't do next batch production. Do them NOW .. so that everyone has a choice to choose which item they want? everyone has different budget, and moreover is good time to extend your market segment and maximize your coverage. tks Smiley

I know I will be ordering more hardware if they're shipping late may/april.

A 2 module version might be more in my budget, so I hope they make it!

I prefer they can provide DIY buying. As Avalon is module design, they can allow miner to buy single module to upgrade their machine in hands or buy a machine with only 1 module to lower the initial investment.

Ya, this will be a good option for those who want to DIY upgrades your machines

i'd rather just have a full sized avalon but it would be nice if 2 of the minis stacked well on the full sized units.  i've heard they stack well.

I can swing a 2 module Avalon, 3 module was just a bit too much for my BTC stash.

I would like to see a single module unit at around 22GHs that you could expand at a later date as you recouped your initial investment.

Thanks erk... updated the title to reflect that they haven't announced but are conducting market research into if it would be successful.

My opinion would be that there is so much demand for a shipping ASIC miner (especially a proven asic miner), that people will buy BTC just to get it.  Heck... it could be the first high profile non-SR related product that is purchasable only via BTC.

The title is a bit misleading, it's not announced, they are conducting a market research survey to decide if it might be a viable product that's all.

I think they take the current difficulty, multiply it by 2, and see how many BTC a standard Avalon would generate per day at that doubled diff. They multiply that number of bitcoins with the 30 days of the month. That's the final price of the unit. They basically give you a ROI of 30 days at a difficulty that's double the one you bought the unit at.

If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.
That makes total sense.  Thanks for breaking that down.

Half size @ half price of 36-50BTC is fine, no need for second mortgage  Grin

agreed. I want to see ASIC devices start a mass-rollout though, as $4000 for 45GH is a tremendous deal for early buyers, but probably carries over a 50% profit margin for avalon.

Would rather see mass-produced 1-3GH/s devices for $300-500 a peice. It would end up with many more small investors and aid the distrobution of the BTC network far better then selling more hashing powerhouses that key players or big investors can only afford

I'm very interested, however, I don't follow their price equation.  Can anyone else make sense of that?  Huh
