I'm guessing it'll be around 60-70BTC due to current bitcoin price?

I'm interested regardless. I think everyone is. Just do it Cheesy The demand is definitely there.

If it's $10,000 how on can most people get the money to pay for that? And what if Bitcoin prices are through the roof and it's $20,000 by then? It's just not a flexible enough price range.

I hope they release it where we can upgrade it as we get our ROI.

to shred some light, the model is already made, as we have many prototypes and designs in house, it was a matter of if there's enough demand to warrant a batch.

If not, it'll just get made in a later timeline, for next generation for example.

What would be the price for something like this? Is it under $5000?

it's a real pity that BitSyncom doesn't comment on delivery status of batch 2 and 3 and eminently the scheduling of batch 4

They're probably busy with shipping Smiley

what they need is a smart highschool student, that does some communication with their customers

Sure, but this is already business part of the operation - it's one thing to build an ASIC, but completely different to sell it Smiley

it was a suggestion that the ASIC ROI is fading over horizon and perhaps it would be best to mine the fees for converting $$$ to bitcoins with all the trouble there is there

I have Avalon chips on order and would be interested in a batch 4 too but nothing wrong with pointing out that making money is going to get out of reach soon with mining but there are more ways to make money with bitcoin

and yes, that guy's comments were funny..  you are too serious!!

Please stop crying a river.  Cry  How many times do you have to tell about your "horror story"?  Yes, it is terrible that you have to spend some extra fees last month to buy your bitcoins at half the price as it is today.  Spent 4% fee to gain 100%? Angry  Wow, that's really awful.  I feel really sorry for you!  I can't imagine how depress you will be if you were only getting 50% return per month!

Takin orders in a week? two weeks? three? Even approximate .. Dont want to buy btc only to realize there wont be a roi or worse yet find out there wont be a roi and btc price drops and you loose youre fiat too!!

I lost $235 just in fees moving 6k to an exchange to buy btc in hopes of purchasing an avalon last time, and since i was unsuccessful the thought of just throwing more money away for nothing makes me sick!

aghh... Im need ta go pet a dragon & see if i can get us some luck. Hopefully avalon is having some luck of their own with batch 2/3 shipping and they can spread the love to batch 4 customers..

^^ Since we're rapidly approaching the "point-of-no-ROI", there's little interest in investing several thousand USD's on half-a-miner. However, if you were to release a smaller device based on 2 of your module PCBs, giving us a much more affordable ~5.4GH/s device, there would probably be a higher interest. The additional effort for such a device would be minimal, and DIY guys could always expand upon it, using the same controller module.

^^ I think interest has been gauged already!

^^ i agree batch 4 should be priced with difficulty and competitors in mind, including the diy crowd and the flood of chips just purchased. The Diy guys are pedal to the medal ... i worry about them more than bfl... Bfl is full of ****.. so there is no telling what they are up to.. hell i dont even believe the recent videos.. But the difficulty worry is not unfounded!!

That said all we have to go by with batch #4 is the "would you be interested if may early june" ... nothing definitive.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitfloor-cash-deposit-159340

We already know there will be a new batch for order, as they gauged interest.

You can expect the price in BTC will be lower than last time, based on their formula that takes in account (rising) difficulty and the expected payback time.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.1670882

So BTC 45 - 50 tops

We know Avalon only takes payment in BTC

We know they want to promote people to use new BTC related services and tools like Bitinstant and other ways of buying and earning BTC (try for example Localbitcoins next time)

So logically you should already start to save up and gather BTC, and prepare. That way you'll not get caught in the last minute with your funds stuck in some foreign bank transfer and loose valuable time.

Well, I think we all know that batch #4 will arrive in late June, early July if everything goes well... That's 2 months from now, so you should multiply difficulty x3 (27 million aprox.). That would mean 25BTC in 30 days for a 45GHs. I really don't know how some of you guys say that you will be happily 50BTC or even 80BTC as I read earlier when BFL started shipping and chips are sold by the hundreds of thousands

That said, at 25BTC per 45GHs unit I would gladly buy +5 units. More than 25/30BTC per 45GHs, frankly speaking is too high IMHO. Difficulty will skyrocket very soon, just imagine when all those chips hit the network + ASICMINER + BFL, etc.

agreed. I want to see ASIC devices start a mass-rollout though, as $4000 for 45GH is a tremendous deal for early buyers, but probably carries over a 50% profit margin for avalon.

Would rather see mass-produced 1-3GH/s devices for $300-500 a peice. It would end up with many more small investors and aid the distrobution of the BTC network far better then selling more hashing powerhouses that key players or big investors can only afford

This is a really important point -- low barriers to entry are key to competition. No competition = monopoly, and we all know a monopoly on hashing power = the end of BTC.

Consider a future where BTC grows legs and a large bank decides to become a "transaction processor" (transaction strengthener, if you will)... the kind of resources any of the big four could throw at this would utterly dwarf the network's throughput today. A good way to prevent this is for top tier efficiency hashing devices to be available as commodity goods, just as CPUs and GPUs are today.

No date was given as this was just market research by Avalon Asics, but their google form implied a shipping time of "May/Early June"

Quote
Due to overwhelming demand, we are going to gauge interest on a smaller 2 module version of the Avalon unit that's effectively half of a Avalon original in size, and greater than 45Gh/s in performance.

As per usual the price of the unit is determined by the following equation.
mining_difficulty * ( 1 + number_of_month_in_lead_time) over a 30 day period on the unit's hashing power. to those interested, here is the form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1rJJniFiYn0XMPZVKVni86xBvSTylWw0fv1c1zAfuR68/viewform

I am guessing, but it would be reasonable to assume that it won't be expandable as it will be 1/2 the size of the orginal avalon.  I suggest following the google doc link and registering interest if you are interested.

Thanks erk... updated the title to reflect that they haven't announced but are conducting market research into if it would be successful.

My opinion would be that there is so much demand for a shipping ASIC miner (especially a proven asic miner), that people will buy BTC just to get it.  Heck... it could be the first high profile non-SR related product that is purchasable only via BTC.

I think they take the current difficulty, multiply it by 2, and see how many BTC a standard Avalon would generate per day at that doubled diff. They multiply that number of bitcoins with the 30 days of the month. That's the final price of the unit. They basically give you a ROI of 30 days at a difficulty that's double the one you bought the unit at.

If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.
