Welcome to the Bitcontalk forum, you will start something new which is quite fun here, there is a lot of information that you can learn and a lot of knowledge that you will get, many people have advised you regarding technical things that must be learned, it is intended that you don't take the wrong way in utilizing the forum, because trust is the most basic thing that you have to show in this forum.

I just want to add a little regarding Investment, if you want to hold a potential coin you should allocate a large amount of special funds for bitcoin, while the rest is up to you to use which coin.

Hi and welcome to the forum. this forum is the best place where you can talk about bitcoin and learn a lot about the bitcoin world. as far as your investment is concerned, I hope that before making it, you are well informed about the various cryptocurrencies you have purchased. as much as I can help you, my advice would be to avoid cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin as much as possible, speculation is very high and big scams have often been detected. I hope you will appreciate my advice and have a happy 2023 Cheers

I hope you pick the right altcoins because things can get more ugly this year just like 2020 but no problem if you are in this for a long term, I am not done accumulating yet but I invested some money too early, now I am down 400$, I will start buying more before this 1st quarter ends.

Keep an eye on the altcoins you pick, some will get worse and the best way is to switch to other altcoins, do not buy and sleep on them.

You're welcome, and it's great that you're here to learn more about bitcoin because there are some people who will be willing to invest but won't know much about it, and after they invest in some shady items, they'll complain that they were scammed. I believe you made the right choice by coming to the forums, and I'm confident that being here will be beneficial to you in any way regarding investments. I wish everyone good luck and a bright future.

OP, Welcome here in forum great that you found this site and you will not regret this, I'll promise that you will learn more in here .

Thanks for welcoming me, I am looking forward to this site!

I just recently found out about Bitcointalk, and I heard its a really cool place to talk about different topics and bitcoin mainly.
How long have you been in cryptocurrency market?

Quote
I currently invested around 1400USD in different cryptocurrencies.
Does i mean you invested in many cryptocurrencies, not only Bitcoin. Bitcoin should be a most important cryptocurrency in your portfolio. I hope you did not use too much of your $1400 for investment in altcoins.

Quote

Invest in Bitcoin mostly
Invest very little in altcoins and consider it as very risky investment. Chance to lose is higher than in investment in Bitcoin.

Learn to use non custodial wallet for your bitcoins and cryptocurrencies.
Back up wallet private key, mnemonic seeds and practice to recover your wallets

Use strong passwords to secure your wallet access.

For about 1 year now

Yeah I have invested in four different cryptocurriencies , about 80% of my 1400$ are on BTC

Yeah I know, everyone tells me that BTC is not as high risk as any other coins

- I am looking forward to that but i do have my wallet keys secured and backed up.

I use generated passwords and my passwords are saved on my phone, desktop obviously.

Right now I am trying to start buying and selling because relaying purely on investments has not been very efficient for me.

Just a couple of quick things to consider, besides the additional pointers you are bound to get on this thread:

- Normally, it’s best not to mention how much you’ve invested. Being reserved on the quantities is a better practice that otherwise.

- For the most, it would be best to keep the acquired crypto under self-custody, as opposed to keeping it on Exchanges.

- Your Email is currently visible on your profile. Unless that is a deliberate move, it is best to hide the email on your public profile (https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/hardgranite-3522264 -> hide email from public).

Well, you were right especially the email one this account was hacked back in 2014-2015 because I made my email visible and using the same password that related to crypto.

Anyway message to OP, for me $1.4K is a lot of money  Cheesy please make sure you invested in good coin not fomo that usually people on twitter or tiktok shill about and again make sure you withdraw it to your local wallet that you have the key. You don't want to accident on FTX happen right hehe

OP, welcome to this forum.
Considering that you have invested a significant amount of money in crypto, I hope that you have analyzed the crypto market in detail beforehand and made your investment decision based on concrete indicators, and not based on the stories of others, which are often not true.
As much as the crypto industry is an opportunity to make money, it is also a very risky investment in which many investors lose money.
It's important to make a concrete investment plan and a clear exit strategy.
Good luck with youir investment!
If you need any advice feel free to ask and other members will answer you based on their experience.

Unfortunately I invested some extra money I had without doing much research on the crypto currencies I am investing in, but as of now I believe they are good picks.
Thanks!

OK, I hope that you have made a good choice and that your investment will be profitable.
It is always a good idea to diversify your investments and not put all your money in the same basket, or bet on only one cryptocurrency.
I advise you to learn to analyze the crypto market in order to know how to invest properly, create a good investment plan and have a clear exit strategy.
Without it, you rely too much on luck, which usually doesn't end well.

Any reason why ETH futures is having more volume than BTC today? Seems like ppl are not listening to you 😁.
People love to bet with altcoins.

Future trading is bet.

I wrote about investment, not trading, not bet. OP invested, did not trade spot, did not trade future.

- I keep it in hot wallets.
- Yeah, I changed that thanks!
• Privacy is a very important currency when it comes to Bitcoin and revealing your investment amounts, how much Bitcoin you own etc, compromises your privacy to a large extent as onlookers can start to build a personalized scam attempt on you, especially if you provide more information like your email address.

• Hot wallets is a bad options for such amount. Move it to cold storage on a non custodian wallet like electrum or Bitcoin core.

• Did you only change the email address to a non personal one? Cause, I can still see an email address on your profile.
How to change the feature; go to Account Related Settings on your profile and tick - Hide email address from public?.

10% ETH, 5% XRP, 5% DOGE and 80% BTC
80% Bitcoin is not a bad amount, I personally prefer all crypto investments being made in Bitcoin and diversifications should be to other industries, like tourism, stocks etc. But not everyone thinks that way.

Welcome, OP, to the forum. I see you are not quite oriented to the rules of the forum. You have a lot of posts that go one after another, and this is not welcome here. I advise you to read the rules before posting anything.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/unofficial-list-of-official-bitcointalkorg-rules-guidelines-faq-703657

And it can also be understood that you are very excited about your investments, but to say that nothing bad can happen is very self-confident. There are stories on the forum that talk about how people lost their money from improper storage, as well as from a lack of patience during the fall in the price of bitcoin. Take an interest in such stories to understand what can go wrong.

You welcome to the forum. You have to know not to trust people you don't know. Always be doubtful when it is looking very promising when people offer you some help or talking on how to help to grow your investment. Do proper research before you do what you think you want to do, don't haste in decision. Just be careful and watch scam. Don't give information like password when you get such pm.

Yes its a perfect hub for bitcoiners and those who are interested in discussion on blockchain and crypto. Can I ask which cryptocurrencies you dispersed the 1400usd. I do hope that you didnt allocate a lot on some shitcoin hence picking low cap top coins like lets say top 100 to 200 coins and tokens.

10% ETH, 5% XRP, 5% DOGE and 80% BTC

Welcome to the forum! You should read this thread Newbies - Read before posting so that ypu will be aware on the proper use of the forum. The rest of your questions can be find through using the search function. Limit yourself to create a thread without searching first for any duplicate thread since forum should be maintain clean as much as possible.

Also, surprising that you already invested on crypto despite you are new here. I hope you are doing good with that investment. You should focus only in Bitcoin if you want a long term and less risky investment for your future.

Hi there, yes I have read the thread you told me about, I am sure on what to post and ask from now on, and I will avoid duplicate posting.

I have known about crypto a long time ago but only now I have started to invest on it.
About 80% in the money I invested is in bitcoin, and the rest on some smaller currencies.

I'm up about 10% so far, Thanks!

Welcome to the Bitcointalk forum, the most important thing is that you read the forum rules to avoid bans, especially never do plagiarism because there is no tolerance at all.

Here you can learn many things about cryptocurrencies or other blockchain technologies and have healthy discussions and arguments that you have prepared, so it is important that regardless of the investment that has been made by you, it has been a good decision.

This is one of the threads for beginners about good investing and diversifying your investments.

[1] BUY & HODL - is the surest strategy for crypto beginners
[2] Is diversification into different coins really a good advice for Newbies?
[3] Newbies ! A wrong (Altcoin) selection would destroy your dream
