I'm upset nothing can be done to moderate these forums.
BtcTalk seems to just turn a blind eye to the scam artists and it's destroying the CryptoVerse with nothing but greed and suckers fuelling it.

u r right.  nobody seem to care about such utter blatant scams, HECK dumb people even participate.

OUCH.

It seems that they were blocked by the forum, so maybe someone is paying attention.

You can call out scams and provide negative feedback when you find them.   Every little bit helps.   You can also follow Come-from-Above's example and create threads like these.    In this case, even if NEECoin was legit, what they were doing is so unethical that it basically the same as a scam.   However, their behavior now shows that they are just running a scam.

I've been banned from their thread?   At least that is message I just got.   I guess the negative feedback I created was well deserved and will stay.

Edit: Turns out NEECoin has been banned according to a twitter tweet by them.    Guess there was more proof they were running a scam.   In any case what they were doing is unethical.

So now they have switched to collecting even more information, albeit a little indirectly.

1) NAME
2) FB account at least 6 months old with 20+ friend.  <<<<< MAJOR RISK
3) SMS!!!!!  They are going to have your telephone number!!!
4) Bitcointalk username

This scam is just looking for suckers that can be scammed multiple times.   That or they don't understand the first thing about crypto currencies.

I agree it seems like a scam.

1) They don't have a client yet!
2) They are forcing trust, everything is just on their web site.   I can just see the "Oh we were hacked" scam.
3) They claim to be writing a completely new coin in Java.   That would be a very high risk path to pull off correctly.
4) They are trying to collect a LOT of personal information, enough to tie a bitcoin address to a person, that is just evil.   If they are so stupid as to not understand that, there isn't any chance of them pulling this off.
5) They are trying to collect at least 150 BTC before they create any coins!!!!!!!!!
6) They are using a referral system.

exactly.  its definitely an utter scam
