I agree that "Legendary" sounds a bit elitist. Perhaps, ironically, "Elite Member" would be less elitist, and hence a better choice.

I think Legendary rank should only be given to Satoshi, and maybe a few of the old devs. If ANYONE can get that rank, then it detracts away from its epicness. Maybe a more fitting term for ~1k activity would be Noble or Templar.
There are already special badges for Satoshi and Bitcoin Experts.

More precisely, the activity required is set randomly between 775 to 1030.
So if you are lucky and have a requirement of 775, you could get the title 8.5 months earlier than having bad luck and a requirement of 1030.
To make things more fun, the Legendary membergroup has no universal activity requirement. You are guaranteed to become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity, but the exact point in this range at which you become Legendary is random per user.

You're close. The first step is when 2010-11 members are encroched upon by the great unwashed the activity level for legend will need to be changed to possibly 2000. Then when it happens again the highest level name will become something else like "BitGod" or some other horseshit. All of this will be meaningless when the new forum software is implemented and half of the members and posts are lost during the migration. lol

Satoshi already know as Funder, with silver coins. And we have badges for things earned by merit, not by house time, so I see no problem with the new ranking.
