Blockchain Evangelist.
I got 8x p106 in my ASUS B250 mining expert rig. got those P106 used from bitbitminer.com
nice price. the hashrate is 20-23 mH/S.

My rig: 8 x MSI P106-100, the OC setting is as image, each GPU could achieve 25.05 Mh/s:

geoffrylouie good information, thank you a lot. What are you guys thinking about what better to use PCI-e only motherboard or motherboad+ risers?

what is the hash rate for ZOTAC P106-100 6GB GDDR5?. vendor is offering 20 GPUs and each $224.00 . Is it good card for mining ETH and what is the best hash for this? Please let me know your experiences. Is it worth to buy for ETH or other coins?

Probably very similar to existing GTX 1060 6GB cards, but probably a little lower power usage.

Given the card doesn't appear to actually be in production yet though (soon it appears), NOBODY KNOWS for sure quite yet.

$224 seems a bit high though - you should try to talk them down to $200 at most especially given the quantity minimum.

(edit) well, now that 1060 consumer card pricing is going through the roof, perhaps you SHOULD grab them at $224.

well that is 1060 performance per card right there??!
why bother releasing a mining card if not significantly faster eh?

 Lower cost and higher efficiency.

I expect a "mining" GTX 1060 varient to use 20-30% less power than a non-mining varient at the same clocks, due to no video circuitry + disabling all of the non-mining-related parts of the GPU itself in the BIOS.

Same reason a R9 290 with a BIOS from TheStilt runs a LOT cooler and lower power usage even if you DON'T use one of the undervolt varients, only more so.

It also is apparently going to carry a MSRP about $50 lower, probably due largely to the removal of a lot of circuitry - but the postings from retailers I've seen claiming to have the card have all listed it as a somewhat inflated price.
They need to get it under $200 to make it interesting.

It should also run cooler at the same clocks.

I suspect they will also change the BIOS to tighten up the memory timings somewhat (something else those TheStilt BIOS did) to increase hashrage, but the folks claiming 60 Mh/s out of the rumored 1080 varient are full of .... something. That GDDR 5x latency is STILL going to kill hashrate, they'll be lucky to get to 45 and I'd expect 35-40 at best.

More like NVidia wants to cash in on the cryptomining frenzy - but they don't seem to understand where they need to target.

Interesting factoid, NVidia website seems to be down right now.....

300+ for a 1060 based mining card is a joke.

Get it under $150 and they might get some interest.

"The Nvidia GP106-100 mining GPUs will not be available on the regular market to the regular users apparently, they are going to be sold only in large volume to big customers such as cloud mining companies like Genesis Mining and/or other big private mining operations."

What a pitty, I would buy such a mining rig, just for fun and testing, points to nvidia.

Anyway, in my country, the taxes on this thing would kill any future profitability.

But since the card doesn't do graphichs it's probobly pre-configured with different memory timings/straps to make ethereum mining faster. Heard some rumours of 26MHASH per card, and the 1060 cards with graphics can max do 22-23 with heavy oc.

From the cryptomining blog:

Quote
The information that we are seeing about the GP106-100 mining GPUs mentions some numbers regarding mining performance, the following numbers are for 8x of these GPUs: 200 MHS for ETH, 2500 Sol/s for ZEC, 4400 H/s for XMR. These numbers translate to about 25 MHs for Ethereum, 312.5 Sol/s for ZCash and 550 H/s for Monero and only the ETH number seems surprisingly high considering what we’ve seen in our recent test of the GTX 1060 9Gbps. So while the GPU might be essentially the same as on the consumer GTX 1060, there could be some differences in the video memory… maybe 256-bit memory bus or optimized memory timings intended for better performance. With a sub $200 USD prices these mining oriented GPUs could be interesting, but the 90-day warranty period could be a bit of a setback.

ICO? Not even once.

so, this is not open for retail order & only target big fish like genesis & mining farm unless they buy bulk quantity.right?

I'd say it is available for retail: http://shop1.heiprotec.de/PC-Hardware-Komponente/Grafikkarten-NVIDIA/Palit-GTX1060-P106-100-6GB-Mining-EDITION::2092.html
But I'm not sure if it is a good choice for a private mining.

If you set up a farm with 1000 rigs with, lets say 6 cards each, you'll end up configuring 6000 cards. Do this with a rx 470/480 or 570/580 you are going to end up doing bios upgrades that take you like, lets say 10 minutes per card, so this would be 60'000 minutes. Or in other words 4 months of 8h workdays if you work every day.

But if you can just plug this card into your rig and hit the play button, well that would be a big + for farms.
For my private use I'm going to stick with my rx 470 or the upcoming Vega as I can take my time for each card to run the best setup on it AND sell it to a gamer after I'm done using it.

If a farm is done using the GP106-100 it will probably go to into a recycling bin.

That's a terrible price as well. You could get a proper 1060 for 2/3 the price.

the only thing i like about it , it´s the passive cooling.

but resale value its NULL.

neeext!!

Well the cards doesn't have active cooling but it's clear that if you don't put them in a case with active cooling, you're going to fry them or run them throttled to like 300Mhz.

Ethereum will go pos is 6 months. then you are left with cryptonight @ 550h/s

My private kernel is doing 600h/s on the 1060 3gb. Much cheaper and with 2-3 years warranty in the EU.

regarding pos which means nvidia also have only few months to push sales on this GPU and then if pos
happen only have few options for miner to mine. 3 month warranty is just too short lol...2-3 years is better.

You do realize you can mine other coins with gpu rigs Smiley A lot of people have stopped doing ETH in favor of ETC or other coins.

Even if they do offer this to the small farm/hobbyist, I don't think this would be too popular.  The resale value on these would be terrible, especially with that 3 month warranty.  An aside note as well, I love building mining rigs myself.  I love playing around with new computer hardware and being able to have it pay for itself and even make a profit.

Anyway, these really do only make sense for larger farms.  If I was a larger farm with not alot of time to spare, buying prebuilt miners is the way to go.
