I've watched a video of it, and I really like the way it's made. It's abstract enough not to suggest anything specific about who Satoshi is, and the whole thing about perspective and Satoshi being almost invisible is smart and lovely. Switzerland is a beautiful country, and the place where the statue is displayed looks lovely. It's a great balance that contemporary art is sometimes lacking: the balance between abstractness and specificity.

That is the new statue of Satoshi Nakamoto revealed in Lugano Switzerland.

Design looks cool, depending on the perspective, the statue will disappear, just like Satoshi himself. Also it pertains on Bitcoin's privacy and (psuedo)-anonymity.

And this could be the second statue dedicated to him, Three years ago, Hungary became the first nation to build a Statue of Satoshi.

nice sculpture artwork. but for me, or even laymen would definitely call it a statue of a person holding a laptop. or better yet, it would be called a statue of an IT expert. because I don't see any bitcoin accent there. or at least there is a bitcoin logo, to depict satoshi nakamoto.

Brilliant idea, what a truly amazing design, uniquely the faceless statue can only be seen clearly from the side, while people looking from the front or back will see it vaguely, because there is a gap in the design, the theme of the design depicts the mysterious figure of Satoshi. Created by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, the statue captures both the mystery and the enduring legacy of Satoshi. It has not been decided where the statue will be displayed but it will remain part of the permanent collection of the Parco Ciani in Lugano.

The video can be seen on the X satoshigallery account controlled by Valentina Picozzi. @satoshigallery

Well, that's what Craig S. Wright's face now, eh?

Jokes aside, based on a quick google search, around 14% of the total population in Switzerland is holding any cryptocurrency: LINK. I guess having a statue increases the adoption because many will be curious on what the statue is and what's it being represented hence, many might try and do some research about cryptocurrency or even just Bitcoin only. Will we be seeing more of these in the future in different countries? I mean Switzerland has been known for being a crypto-friendly country so, I guess those other countries that are also crypto-friendly as well might do it?

Whatever the case is, I can't believe that that's now the face of Fake-toshi.  Grin Grin

This is an amazing and good initiative. I'm curious is this organize and done by the government of Switzerland or this is an initiative by the civilians?
If every I will visit Switzerland, my dream country, I will take a picture here and next to Hungary just for this statue.
For sure other countries will follow what Switzerland and Hungary did.

This is really cool and nice despite that it has no direct discripancy of who Satoshi Nakamoto is, but atleast it represents Satoshi anonymity and his vision. It's a sign of honour to our genius it will be a tourism or tourist attractions centre for those who will like to know about Satoshi and bitcoin.

Nice thing to see a new Statue of Satoshi situated in Lugano, that signifies the presence of bitcoiners in the city. Also, Lugano is a fast growing Bitcoin hub and over 100 merchants use the lightning network for payment. So, having a sculpture of Nakamoto there will invite more crypto users to the country. The image shows transparency, and anonymity, a true explanation of Bitcoin founder.

Switzerland as a whole is a Bitcoin friendly country especially with the city of lugano, I could remember one time when I saw in the Bitcoin magazine when the major of the actually bought some coffee and paid with Bitcoin as shops and business have implemented Bitcoin as a payment method which is a major progress in terms of Bitcoin world adoption. The new statue of Satoshi further verifies the true friendly nature of that community towards Bitcoin.

If people knew much about bitcoin, they will actually get attached with this statue knowing Satoshi is the person behind the innovation of bitcoin. People will definitely pay tribute to this. However, for those who aren’t seeing Satoshi as a significant one, this statue won’t definitely makes sense. Just like the real Satoshi, people who haven’t introduced into bitcoin will never pay tribute or recognize bitcoin as a highly valuable asset to mankind.

This new statue of Satoshi in Switzerland is actually signifying many things. It shows that Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is making an impact in the globa world. If I didn't know what I know now about the first Satoshi statue in Switzerland, and see such a statue for the first time, it is in itself the awareness i need about bitcoin to get me started and go into the Bitcoin and crypto rabbit hole.

Satoshi's contribution to Bitcoin will forever have a global impact. More of these type of statues will soon be erected in major cities around the world. It will only take some time. This is where creatives for Bitcoin comes in. And as for funding to do this, I believe that there are always funds. It is just to ask the right questions.

This is cool, I saw this on X. I don't know if it's the image of Satoshi or who but it seems that this statue could symbolize Anonymity or Anonymous. And this could have multiple interpretations, but if the creator has said it's Satoshi's image it's pretty good in my opinion.
Even this image has been written about in the local media. From the article I read, this statue is indeed the designer's dedication to Decentralization and financial sovereignty. Another mission is about the digital innovation center that wants to be created in Lugano Switzerland.

The mayor of Lugano can be congratulated for keeping up with the times and planning to make the city a center of digital innovation and the desire for financial freedom. The statue itself, as written by the ambitious project Plan₿ of the Tether company, is truly unique in its depiction. This will allow many people to become interested in the reason for the disappearance of the creator of Bitcoin and to think about their privacy on the network.

The mayor has sparked a lot of interest in bitcoin, and I like how he's creating things that represent digital innovation. Only a few countries can do that, so there are a lot of people applauding him for doing so. I like how the sculpture doesn't even have a face, it was very thoughtful of him to show a symbol of bitcoin, and people actually love it. Not every country will want to do this, but look at what he did to change everything because that place

It will have different meanings; the place will be the heat of the place and the center of attention, and people will want to visit and be inspired to do more; who does not like privacy? Everyone does, and it will also be an investment; there are many people who know bitcoin but know nothing about it, but when they meet people there, they may want to do everything they can to invest.

People will get more interested when they see things like this and that is why positive reviews is very important when it comes to bitcoin as a whole the relevance of having a positive rating have a way of affecting the price of bitcoin.

I quite like that it enables the concept of "We are all Satoshi" by putting yourself behind it:

Quote from: Artist: https://x.com/satoshigallery
Grateful for the opportunity to make a statue of Satoshi Nakamoto for the city of Lugano 🇨🇭displayed in Parco Ciani.

The statue disappears in front of the audience and what’s left of Satoshi in visible “between the lines” (of the code) for all the #bitcoin users.

That was a nice piece of art, but there’s no description explaining the concept behind the statue, right? For me, the statue's design seems to represent disappearance, with the blank design resembling a puzzle. This disappearing aspect reflects the true status of Satoshi, who remains anonymous and will likely stay that way.

By the way, since Satoshi is anonymous, what do you think is the reasoning behind portraying him as male? Why not as female?

It can't be a statue of Satoshi because it doesn't look like Dorian Nakamoto, Craig S. Wright or Peter Todd. Grin Joking aside, I like the statue. Lugano, Switzerland is one of the pioneer cities for Bitcoin.
The creator is Valentina Picozzi, if you want to see her other works check out her instagram account. There is also interesting content on the Satoshi Gallery account which this piece is a part of from what I understand.

Photo Source link: https://www.instagram.com/p/CoiXpyMOrIX/?igsh=MXd4MzA4cGdmOXYweA==

I saw this beautiful image from the Satoshi Gallery which is very interesting, but such an artist.
But I like all these statues and tourists who visit this country will definitely get a great idea about Bitcoin. Because there are many secrets hidden inside this statue that Satoshi Nakamatu has a perfect resemblance to. And new investors will surely be attracted to Bitcoin by seeing all these idols, and from other aspects too these idols reveal more different images.

Somehow a shady and mysterious statue, but I like the fade effect, as it changes depending the perspective you are looking to it. Considering the low level of art nowadays, I think this one was creative at least. It would be great to see some BTC statues as well, maybe a Bitcoin coin shining inside a fountain or something like that. Cities and regions which have adopted Bitcoin are the ones which can do this, as Bitcoin has already become part of their history and development.

I see much reasons with what you have said in the aspects of creating a tourist attraction center where all of this Bitcoin statues like the one of Satoshi is placed there as well to remind people and upcoming bitcoiners who Satoshi is and his unknown identity. For me I think the statue in Switzerland would generate more or bring more people to understand what Bitcoin is and find themselves in it, like this would create more awareness to the society provided Bitcoin goes beyond this levels.
I think that it may happened when the statue garners people to visit it since statues created like that has the possibility of becoming s tourist attraction just like charging bull statue. If this happens then it will surely cause awareness to people about Bitcoin either they already know it or those who haven't know about it yet. Many people will understand why it is like that (why the statue created like that) since the identity of SN is not revealed at all.

I like the idea of the statues, especially for BTC tourists who come into these countries, they will have one more spot to visit. It may not be long before we see another statue of Satoshi in a different country.

I agree with this, because I don't know if the true identity of Satoshi has been revealed to be able to get an exact image of him, except for a presumed one like this which would be for the purpose of tourism especially for crypto enthusiast. People will not think any thing much about this because most persons are aware that the identity isn't revealed and this is a mare representation of who the actual person would be.

This statue is really different. He/She who designed it thought many times before design it. Cause this is really mean that to be shown disappear as satoshi is disappear to us. I think it looks something exceptional not much explained to concern crypto. However we may be will see more statue in future as crypto are getting more popular to the world. I think it may helps to make many and more engagement on crypto field.

Makes me wonder if El Salvador will make one too, especially since they’ve already made Bitcoin legal tender.

I don't think that will happen, because the man who calls himself "the most handsome dictator" is not one of those who want someone else to overshadow them, even if it was Satoshi. In addition, everyone who makes statues that are supposed to represent a person under the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto is obviously completely sure that it is one person - if it is ever proven otherwise, the statues will become meaningless.

Furthermore, I'm pretty sure Satoshi wouldn't like what they're doing, because his idea was never to have one man represent Bitcoin, I think he communicated that clearly.

According to records from Andresen, Satoshi sent him an email that day in which he asked him to downplay the idea he was a “mysterious shadowy figure,” at the time adopting a short and reproachful tone to the project’s new “technical lead.”**

"The press just turns that into a pirate currency angle. Maybe instead make it about the open source project and give more credit to your contributors; it helps motivate them,” Satoshi wrote.

Nice work of art. The person who made this statue has a very high imagination. I can interpret the statue as if Bitcoin can be used anywhere as long as the internet can be accessed. It doesn't have to be in a special room to make transactions, but anywhere transactions can be done.
Honestly. This artwork is very cool.

This is impressive to say. How Satoshi is now becoming more popular and celebrated than some presidents and celebrities in some part of the world is very satisfying. I believe with time other nations would see the importance of what Satoshi did. The statue is very good symbol of communication because if anyone sees it, they would be forced to ask questions for those who do not have the idea and when they are informed, the message of bitcoin would be communicated to them and that would make them pick interest in bitcoin and would want to know more about Satoshi and the bitcoin story and how it came about.

What made you think it was a statue of Satoshi or representing Bitcoin? I can interpret it as being for the dark web or hackers or anything else, as there is no Bitcoin logo on the laptop or on the programmer's clothes or any details related to cryptocurrencies.

I do not think that it will be interpreted that way, and this is what the creator has to say.

Here the details are clearer and you can easily see that they are related to Bitcoin.

That is the first one in Hungary, every artist has his/her own interpretation of Satoshi himself as obviously, we don't know who the person is.

So it's really up to you on how you can interpret it. But I think you are only a few who see it that way, just saying.

Maybe the nature of the artwork will not correspond with having a logo, design or logo of Bitcoin or Satoshi. The statue was designed to fade or "disappear" based on the angle you view it from. A logo might still be visible even if the image fades.

This is good for the popularization of Bitcoin, maybe those who are not familiar with Bitcoin, seeing this statue, will start to be interested in who it is installed in honor of and thus discover Bitcoin. And the design is well thought out, once again emphasizes that Satoshi still remains an anonymous person, which no one can reveal, and I think that most likely it will remain so. Switzerland has always been loyal to Bitcoin, so it is not surprising that they became the second country to install a statue of Satoshi.

With the news that some countries have already made a statue of him, it’s probably better if he stays anonymous to keep his legacy as Bitcoin's creator intact. It’s another victory for the Bitcoin community since this statue shows respect for Satoshi’s contribution.

Makes me wonder if El Salvador will make one too, especially since they’ve already made Bitcoin legal tender.
Why would El Salvador erect a monument to Satoshi? The government of that country has already paid tribute by making Bitcoin legal tender. Yes, this experiment may not have been a great success, but it is a start. I have been following the situation in El Salvador closely enough and can say that this situation does not make any sense, as it turns out. Therefore, many countries do not take any measures against crypto. Simply put, Bitcoin does not pose a particular threat to the financial system.

And it is also the question why Switzerland erect a monument to Satoshi? And Hungary for that matter?

My point is that regardless of what country it is, there will be people who are going to erect anything in honor of someone. And probably people are banking that if there is a country that will really have Satoshi's statue, it could be the first country that has accepted Satoshi's creation to be their legal tender. Not a county in Europe or any other else.

So we much as well appreciate the creation of  Valentina Picozzi and I do agree that it could be a tourist spot in the country.

The statue looks very unique, and the message is well delivered. It captures the mystery of Bitcoin's creator. He changed the view of digital economics. Anyone might interpret it in different ways. But I love that this statue uses a unique underlining theme instead of other one.

It seems Satoshi is getting even more popular. There may be lots of statue about him to come soon.   Cheesy
Yeah, it’s a unique design, and I love how it really emphasizes the whole anonymous vibe. Since no one’s ever actually seen Satoshi, we’ll probably see all kinds of designs pop up in the future. Who knows, maybe one day there’ll even be a contest, and Satoshi might award the winner with some Bitcoin! We can’t say for sure, but these people creating Satoshi statues might just have something cool coming their way someday.  Grin

Sathosi managed to hide his identity with a period of years (above 10 years) and maybe for as long.

I agree with the idea that the statue presents without identity and prioritises symbolic, vision and mission of bitcoin for personal / personal and can be used for general transactions. Involving money but protecting the owner (supposedly).

I think satoshi is currently observing what he is creating, now bitcoin is becoming common and used by users in the world even though not all, bitcoin is very useful.

How easy it is to transact to different countries if people already know bitcoin, an amazing pioneer. The rest I really support various celebrations because of the enthusiasm of users who appreciate events about bitcoin and its creators.

I like the creativity of the designer Valentina Picozzi. His ability to create a bronze statue that fades based on the angle you view it from is commendable. The first statue unveiled in Hungary, Budapest is also made of bronze but does not have the unique features of this one located in Lugano, Switzerland. Satoshi deserves to have his statue in more countries because his invention revolutionised the world. The Mayor of Lugano Michele Foletti is taking advantage of the significance of the statue to promote his city as a crypto hub, that's creativity.

In my opinion, this could become a tourist attractions especially those people who are into Bitcoin and loves to travel. it's not everyday you can see an art being that is dedicated to Satoshi Nakamoto the creator of Bitcoin. Hope this brings more people into Bitcoin.

I guess most Bitcoiners around the location will want to see the artwork, hence it will gradually grow to become a tourist attraction. It will also be good for Bitcoin awareness because some people who have never heard about Bitcoin might become aware if they see the statue.

The design is incredibly symbolic, how it can disappear depending on the angle aligns perfectly with Satoshi's elusive identity and the core values of Bitcoin's privacy and pseudonymity. It shows the global appreciation for Bitcoin’s mysterious creator. It's amazing to see how public art is capturing the spirit of blockchain and decentralization!

It's fascinating to see how Satoshi’s legacy is being honored globally, with Hungary taking the lead three years ago. These statues are more than just monuments; they’re symbols of the revolutionary impact Bitcoin has had on the world. Thanks for sharing!
In recent years, monuments to Satoshi Nakamoto have been appearing more and more often. There seems to be some kind of trend around this topic. Do people really want to see some kind of symbolism of freedom in this? Perhaps this is true. For how many centuries has the planet's population been enslaved by various despots, and now there is a small hope that this situation can be changed. I like it when freedom is expressed in this way.

Many might think that it's the actual statue of Satoshi. But it's not about the looks but it's about the symbolism that the creator of that statue wants to relay to everyone who will see it.

Let's appreciate that there are people and government that are appreciating satoshi in this means. If the maker of it has been a "son of bit since 2008" based on her website and she's really into it.

This is her way of contributing to what has been done by satoshi or whoever she wants to reflect with that statue, it's a great piece of art.

Looks like this was made for the third annual Lugano's blockchain event[1]. If I read this correctly looks like the city, Tether, and Plan B Initiative are the ones who commissioned this statue. Tether's CEO comments are quite ironic since I don't think Tether is a good representative for decentralized finance. Anyway looks like this status will stay at Lugano and probably become an attraction for the annual event in the future.

That is the new statue of Satoshi Nakamoto revealed in Lugano Switzerland.

Design looks cool, depending on the perspective, the statue will disappear, just like Satoshi himself. Also it pertains on Bitcoin's privacy and (psuedo)-anonymity.
Really cool artwork. This is what modern art is about. I love the use of design to portray what Satoshi Nakamoto represents. I am very glad that artists are using their skills to spread more awareness about Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin, and just Crypto in general.

Any artwork is welcomed but even without the concept of Satoshi Nakamoto, this is an intelligent and well executed design.

And this could be the second statue dedicated to him, Three years ago, Hungary became the first nation to build a Statue of Satoshi.
This community is full of talented and creative individuals. Glad to see how creativity can be applied in a fintech kind of industry.

You think there will be much attached to this?
Well, i don't think so because this is only statue design as representation of Satoshi disappearance but this doesn't mean is directly pointing at Satoshi but instead it's a kind of pictures or images that narrates bitcoin creator being unknown and undiscoverable, though it would create more awareness over there as people could picked much more interest in bitcoin since it's attracts more attentions.

In my opinion, this could become a tourist attractions especially those people who are into Bitcoin and loves to travel. it's not everyday you can see an art being that is dedicated to Satoshi Nakamoto the creator of Bitcoin. The idea of the statue disappearing is good since no one knows about Satoshi Nakamoto's real identity. I wonder what other people will think about this statue created on Switzerland. Hope this brings more people into Bitcoin.
