Well I'm finally mining albeit only through bitminters client (which is great!). I have bought two U2's and a U1 and I'm currently running the U1 and one U2 (waiting for the other to arrive) and have a fan blowing on them to keep them cool.  The trouble in having is that the u2 is getting a good amount of "proofs of work" accepted by the servers but the u1 is getting roughly 5x LESS proofs of work accepted.

Does anyone know why?

I'm mining with one U2 and often suddently after a connection at internet or a computer freeze...my U2 is then after reboot not seen by cgminer.
And then...after a night turned completly off...it works again when i try...

So far i have not found why.

Thanks Phil and winspiral. I'll take a look at that a bit more in depth once I'm up and running to some degree. I'm already looking at an S1 or S3 to leave running under my desk.

Thanks Phil, it's looks good, but I'm just dipping my toe at the moment and don't want to spend loads on different gear when I'm just getting set up Smiley

I understand  but it you read up on the u3 you will find it works poorly unless you use the r1 as a custom controller.

The u2 is pretty much out of date.

yes U2 is out of date...you need weeks and weeks to reach the minimum payout of most of pool...and often you will have fix fees for low payout.

(I propose at few people who mine under 5GH/s to mine for me...so they have no fees for small payout.)

Hi everyone,

I've been reading various posts on the forum relating to antminer gear. I'm aiming to use antminer u2's and a u3 for ease and because I'm just dabbling with it for a bit of fun and "trying my luck" as others have done. I intend to use bitminter pool and connect the U2's to a powered usb hub and run them through the bitminter interface. The questions I have are:-

1) can I run the U3 through cgminer and have it connect to the bitminter pool while I run the U2's through the hub and interface?

2) if I were to swap the U2's out for another U3 could I run it through the same cgminer as the first one or would I need to run two copies of it?

I understand these questions are probably very basic to you all, but I have tried searching through the forum for the answers but I haven't seen a definitive answer, well I probably have but my brain has been bamboozled by all the info.

I will have more questions in time as any newbie does but I will endeavour to find the answers first before I waste all your time  Wink

Thanks.

1)Yes you can connect 100% independent miners to the same pool/account.

2)Yes if they are on the same computer, you can use the same instance. I don't know what the limit of miner per mining instance but its much more than 2.
