good news!when they accept dogecoin?

What's the good news?  Most of the places I visited over a year ago no longer accept bitcoins.

And Charlie may be in jail... not sure if his bar Evo? is still up & running.

And I'm not sure if any dogecoin payment processors have had success in the New York marketplace yet.

Wasn't this it? http://www.evrnyc.com/about

Odd thing is I went to the bottle booking part of the website and when I went to checkout I didn't see any mention of bitcoin at all. Only credit cards.

Is this not the right bar? Or was it sold or something?

Agreed; perhaps they never setup the website for sales...

http://www.evrnyc.com/about

If you click on credit cards, bitcoin is listed here.

Not sure if they are removing their connection with bitcoin given Charlie's current situation.

i think Hudson Eatery will take your bitcoins

Hudson Eatery

601 West 57th Street
New York NY 10001
http://www.hudsoneatery.com

their no mention of bitcoin on their site, but I'm pretty sure they do take bitcoin

I would like to go to Brunch this Sunday.

1) Should I make a reservation?

2) Do you accept bitcoin as a payment option.

Thanks!

Just sent this e-mail to [email protected]

I called them and the lady had no idea what I was talking about, but was going to ask her boss.  I told her I'd just e-mail instead.

Anyone know if I should make a reservation if I want to go for Sunday brunch?

Exciting to know that Hudson Eatery is taking Bitcoin!!!!

Be sure to contact them before showing up... I never heard back and thus we did not make it there during our trip.

Any ideas?

Please check out the app "AirBitz" ... its available for iPhone.  I assume android, etc.

It will tell you every business within your radius that accepts bitcoins, including restaurants.  Love it.

Well neither hudson eatery nor a class limo responded to my e-mails...

Guess I'll save my bitcoin for the next city I visit.  Or perhaps keep them to the internet economy where they "belong?"

Either way, excited for New york.  Sitting @ the airport terminal right now.

Charlie, thanks for your hospitality!  Perhaps I'll make it back someday for that poker nite.

Has anyone tried to reach out to Meze Grill to get them back? I understand they lost their coins in one of the hacks in 2011, I believe, but obviously there are now far more professional and secure solutions. Sounds like they get inquiries from potential bitcoin customers with some frequency... Maybe someone from bitpay could contact them? 1000+ merchants already signed up should generate some confidence.

Heya,

Welcome to NYC  Grin

Few things:

1- If you need anything while you are here, please do not hesitate to PM, email, or call me (PM for my info) Our office is on 23rd/Broadway and we have staff who can help you with anything. Email Rachel@bitinstant if you need help with restaurant reservations, advice, ect.

2. Sunday night is Bitcoin Poker Night!

I will PM you the info now

-Charlie

So she was very upset that Meze Grill stopped accepting, and now she still wants a falafel pita, haha.

We'd be glad to accept the BTC from you and pay for the meal in USD. Some great middle eastern food around us, I know, Im from the region myself  Grin

I appreciate the offer.  I've got plenty of fiat, but was hoping to have a bit-pay experience or other payment processing transaction, heh.

Thanks for the offer Charlie!  I will be traveling with my wife (not into poker) for her birthday.  She's not too keen on bitcoin (I've said the word a few more times than her liking), so I doubt she'll be up for too much bitcoin related activities.

However, she will support one meal that is paid for in bitcoins, hence my search for a restaurant to make that happen.

She's Lebanese, so she was very upset that Meze Grill stopped accepting, and now she still wants a falafel pita, haha.

I've reached out to A class limo to see if they are as cheap as any other cab from La Guardia to Time Square (but I'm not holding my breath).  They look like higher end town car company.

And I've already e-mailed Hudson Eatery, so we'll see what those two companies do to earn my bitcoin.

Thanks for all the feedback so far!

You could PM Yankee (Bit Instant) or Erik (evoorhees) of Bitinstant.  If there are businesses accepting BTC in NYC they should know.  I've not heard of any others.

Thanks so much.  I'll be with my wife, so likely won't be able to trade bitcoins.  (Are you just looking to save transaction fees?  or do you not use Mtgox? or other exchanges)

My apologies though.  I meant to ask which restaurants accept bitcoin in NYC.

I called Meze Grill and they confirmed they no longer accept bitcoin.

And I see some o-crepes place, but it's far from Time Square.

I'll be at the Crown Plaza.
