I agree with the OP, but I think the newbie jail will not come back . . .
You are right but it probably won't happen. Not having a newbie jail results in more page views and allows people to participate with less barriers.

This forum is going to become a garbage dump soon if the newbie jail is not enforced at once. The number of spam and stupid posts is ballooning alarmingly.
