@Imaginer: Some people very quickly rack up 50 or 60 posts in the Newbie board but still haven't spent the required 4 hours time logged in. Overall it's designed to limit spam on the forum from people creating 100s of forum accounts.

However, Newbie jail is fairly counterproductive - there are several topics that I would have contributed to in previous months had I not been in Newbie jail. Only now am I having the time to invest in contributing to bitcointalk...

@ Bitcoin Merchant
Are you kidding me? You have over 60 posts and you are still restricted to this forum? Really? Wow. Bullshit.

Problem I have with it is that I joined the site before they implemented this protocol.

Not right. I could post before. Now I can't. I was not given fair warning. If I had joined up after that's another issue. The stipulation would have been read.

Bullshit. As if we don't know how to post on a forum.

The restriction on Newbies posting can be counterproductive. I play BTC poker, but don't hang around forums ... hardly ever. When the odd occasion arises where I want to post (Satoshi Poker discussion today) i'm still a f*ckin newbie on this site and cannot reply to the Satoshi Poker thread. So ... bad policy, disappointing forum. Ideally you'd just get some active moderators ...
