Sorry I uploaded this more than a month ago and forgot or post it. This is the final video - I didn't fix up everything like the poor wording but I'm sure people will get the jist of the system regardless. I'm hoping to put out another couple videos soon, I'm just finding less and less free time these days; at least at a decent hour. Kids home and bored all day every day lol. The thumbnail looks great and was provided by SFR10

I gotta say, your voice is amazing to hear to. Like I'd listen your podcast if you would ever have one, especially on crypto OH MY!
Well thank you very much, I've always felt I had the face for radio now I know I have the voice as well lol.

What was your issue with the obs? I have used obs and i have never got a problem. Also which software do you use for editing?
I spent about a week or so getting my video the way I wanted then  I realized I had to tweak the settings to achieve a decent image quality. Which in itself wasn't so bad. For what I need from it though, which is legitimately just screen capture and voice recording it's a tool well above and beyond my needs. I could see the benefit to it if I were to say stream something or capture webcam footage as well, but for now it was more than I needed. This led it to being a very clunky session of recording and attempted editing.

I went back to screencast-o-matic... I believe. It's just simpler for me and more intuitive for the rookie from what I can tell. It also allows me to record and then edit immediately. It has more than enough features for what I plan to use on these videos at the moment anyways.
Quote
Also, do you record your video first, and then add voiceover?
I do it all in real time. I generally do a mini run through in my head or recording to get an idea of the volume and attempt to get any linguistic roadblocks out of the way. This generally gets me about 4 or 5 outtakes at the beginning ending in a laugh and curse word or 2. I did a little voice-over in parts where my wording just seems off, or I feel it can be better explained with a second go around. This one actually had about 3 minutes on the back end of it going over some of the feedback nuances, in the end I felt it was better with what I originally had in place.

Okay so this has taken me longer to get back into than I expected. I did decide in the end to begin with delving into the trust system and will go back to wallets and security later. I tried a few times with OBS and was finally able to improve my video quality but struggled to put the video together and edit it, so I went back to my other program. It's just a better fit for me. I haven't added in the links or done any timestamping with this video, I simply want to see what people think about the content and if there is anything missing or unnecessary added. @LoyceV

Thanks
I simply want to see what people think about the content and if there is anything missing or unnecessary added. @LoyceV
There are some glitches in the audio, for instance at 0:22 and a smaller glitch at 0:04. Probably because of editing.
Suggestion:
"The list for DefaultTrust 1 is 100" > "There are 100 users on DefaultTrust level 1. In short: DT1." Or maybe leave out the part about the number of DT1 users, and only mention that DT1 picks DT2.
Thanks. That's the sort of input I was looking for, I'll see what I can do about a cleaner edit on the audio glitches. Shouldn't be an issue to word the DT1/DT2 relationship in a better way with a voice overlay.

You're very welcome, happy to help [especially when it comes to doing stuff for a good cause].
Thank you once again, I will take some time and sort through the resources you have provided. I'll be in touch when I decide to start on the next video. I'm going to play around with some of the workarounds you've given me and keep my eye out to see if I can cheaply get around my current hardware limitations. Good ol Black Friday/Cyber Monday - more of a 2 week event these days - could help with that.

Just to add on to the previous suggestions, have you considered making videos on tutorials regarding bitcoin or crypto itself? You could quite possibly become one of the better crypto based YouTubers given your progress. Are there any other issues you're facing with which the community can help you out?
Never really considered trying to become a crypto YouTuber, if the videos get picked up all the better - more chance they help some folks out. My next video is actually less forum related, because I found myself seeing gaps in my plan. I was going to dive right into securing your account and realised there are plenty of people who don't know how to sign messages or how to properly download a wallet that you can do so from. So while I'm no expert, and must admit have taken liberties with actually verifying signatures myself before downloading wallet software - I am working through those problems as if I were a newbie to try and create a well rounded series on that. Then I can proceed with signing a message and forum account recovery.
In a different life I would probably take a weeks vacation and just lock myself in the house with some tunes and jam through these learning as I go and redoing them to improve multiple times. For now it will just be a slow steady grind in my freetime - generally after 10PM and whatever learning reading I can do on the job.

All I ask of the community is if you see a deficiency and have some insight into how I can improve upon it point it out and offer any guidance you have. So far it's been great and I appreciate everyone who has taken the time to contribute their opinion in any way.

Thank s for the input. Yeah I'm tough to pin down for a solid collaboration, but am always open to suggestions advice or ideas people want to see implemented. That's a big reason why it's important for me to drop them here first for critiques people have.

I will definitely cover the merit system, it would be hard not to. I was kicking around a few ideas on the best way to approach it. So keep an eye out for it. I will likely do it after this account recovery/proof of ownership vein I want to dive into this weekend. It's going to involve an aspect of actually obtaining a legit version of Electrum ~ just what I'm mostly comfortable with and have some knowledge on, still learning myself. I just want to make sure I don't put anything in there that could be used to burn a newbie in the space in the future - unsafe or inaccurate download information.

With that though community input will be able to tell me if I F'd it up well before it gains visibility.

I'll look into that software as it would be nice to have a few more options for improving the quality of the video, just have to make sure my ancient PC setup can handle it, and will likely stick with the inexpensive/free option. I paid for a year of my capture software which was fairly inexpensive so I'm going to try and keep costs down as much as possible. I appreciate the links though.

And oh, you'd rather want to use Obs than any other screen recorder. You can add overlays while recording amongst so many other things. It's truly an amazing software. Are there any other issues you're facing with which the community can help you out?

I'll go back over the videos and drop any and all tags I can think of. Anyone can feel free to suggest some as well for me to add in.
This might come in handy: How To Properly Tag Your YouTube Videos

I'll see what I can do about uploading in 1440P.
If your monitor doesn't support it [hardware limitations], you can still trick YouTube into using VP9 encoder by increasing the resolution of your videos in post edit [actual video quality remains the same but it leads to YouTube using its high quality encoder].

I really appreciate the banner offer, and would definitely include it in the videos.
Kindly let me know whenever you need it Smiley

Thanks for all the suggestions they are really helpful.

I will post a topic there today, for these 2 videos. They are a good start, and likely won't be redone or edited in anyway in the foreseeable future. I also haven't heard anything problematic that makes them less than valuable, so I'm comfortable unleashing them further. Glad you like them.

Edit: Beginners and Help topic created - https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/info-video-resources-for-newbies-getting-started-5200715

Thank you for including this topic under beginners section. This will definitely help many Newbies.

- You should use better tags [try to add the "title itself" into your tags, not just a few words for each tag]

I can make you [for free] an overlay with your donation addresses [not in an annoying way for viewers].

I suggest using "OBS [free and open source]".
- Easy to learn and it's flexible enough [you can improve the quality of your sound a bit as well].

- If you can record and upload in 1440P,
Thanks for all the suggestions they are really helpful. I'll go back over the videos and drop any and all tags I can think of. Anyone can feel free to suggest some as well for me to add in.
I'll definitely look into that OBS option, I haven't had much time, but thanks to your suggestions I think I'll work on leveling up my skills a bit before I create a new video.
I'll see what I can do about uploading in 1440P. This is where a lack of knowledge hurts me, as I hadn't even considered adjusting anything to improve the video quality. I'm sure it's somethign I can do easily, if not I'll come back with questions, lol.
The sound issue may be an issue with the PC, and voice recording setup I'm using. I'll check out that software and play around with some of the videos I have currently over the next week or so to see what sort of improvements I can come up with.

I really appreciate the banner offer, and would definitely include it in the videos. Thanks again, I've found your suggestions and offer to be extremely valuable.

A small suggestion to OP, if this video was posted on Beginners section, then more newbies would have benefited. Can you post this video in Beginners section?

Great @Steamtyme! Good video for Newbies, thank you.

All newbies should watch this video to know how to get started on Bitcointalk. A small suggestion to OP, if this video was posted on Beginners section, then more newbies would have benefited. Can you post this video in Beginners section? Because most of the Newbies come on Beginners section for asking their queries.

Great idea, great video [simple and yet good enough] and sound [I really like how clear you pronounce everything but the sound quality is a bit on the low side].

Edit: I went back and changed the title to include Bitcointalk.org; might help with the search not sure. I also linked in this topic and others referenced.
- You should use better tags [try to add the "title itself" into your tags, not just a few words for each tag]
  • Try to maximize it as well [use more tags].
- Use custom thumbnails [helps in making people clicking a video].

I threw down some donation addresses and if they never see anything not really a big deal.
I can make you [for free] an overlay with your donation addresses [not in an annoying way for viewers].

Also, I am sure a lot of people would love to collab with you on this, so more the merrier.

- Easy to learn and it's flexible enough [you can improve the quality of your sound a bit as well].

On a side note:
- If you can record and upload in 1440P, YouTube automatically uses its high quality encoder [VP9] for your videos [disregarding your subscribers count] as opposed to AVC [it's the low quality encoder that is being used on your videos at the moment].

I saw both of your videos, good shit dude. Little too long, but that's okay! You're still learning, that's the point, you're learning AND helping others. Not many people willfully do that.

Suggestions: If you want to edit videos as a professional, use DaVinci Resolve or Adobe Premier Pro.

Video topic suggestions: Explain the merit system too if you're making the other videos you previously suggested. Also, I am sure a lot of people would love to collab with you on this, so more the merrier.

Thanks for checking it out, was hoping to get a bit more feedback on it so I've updated the thread title. This wasn't the most important topic, but seemed like a logical progression. I agree this is somethig that members of all ranks can struggle with.  I think I'm going to start down the account security/recovery vein next. I will keep your idea about individual boards in mind, hopefully enough people watch the first video and get the idea from reviewing the rules topic.

Nice video, covers almost everything on post formatting and how to make threads nice and easily readable. This is an area were not only newbies make mistakes but also higher ranked members.
Let me know what you think, and what you would like to see next.
How about a custom video for boards similar to stickie threads? This would likely be under a minute and only specific boards have enough rules and guidelines to make up a video. This could be redundant as the stickies are never long reads and should be easy to digest. However some learn better with audio and visuals.
