Bitcointalk forum is a forum for quality post about innovation, news ,guidelines etc for newbie and expert in the cryptocurrency world.if your post is educative enough and has more audience you will recieve a merit from people.but if you keep on posting just because of signature campaign you wont get merit because your post will be low quality.therefore you can earn merit irespective of your bitcointalk rank

I think if you try to do something in the forum except making shit posts for signature bounty campaigns, you must be able to earn some merits, because basically it is forum and you are forum member, not bounty hunter.

Yeah really merit is hard to get in here, I don't know some  high rank have 1000 merit tag on their name's but it , nothing  you know why the cannot use merit , they cannot sell it , they cannot send it to some one  or share to some body. Newbie is longing for merit just like me but its difficult to gain.

I think Merit should have a value it should be like token that we can sell, we can exchange in the exchanger,  we can share to any body, because if not, even you have 2000 merit tag on your name , Its useless , Its nothing, Its just a number.

What I  want to say is give value to "Merit"  It should be like token that we can trade, share , send ,sell in the exchagner, buy in the exchanger.

Having merits in the name doesn't mean you have merit to send away. There are two kind of merits:
1.- The merit you earn.
2.- Smerits, the merits you can send. This second one is earned for each two earned "normal" merits, so, even legendaries need to earn merit if they want to have something to send to others. In my case, I'm always looking for deserving newbies, and I always run out of smerits truly fast.

Regarding the token, of course, NO!! There is already an underground market regarding merit, and that's far from being the point of the system. Merits are created to:
- Encourage people to do good posts, as the one the OP wrote ahead.
- To rank-up based on the quality instead of activity. Before in order to rank-up, you just needed activity, It took time, but it was a time when there weren't so much newcomers with the aim of scam the forum.

So, if your trade with merits then they lose their whole point!!

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, it really means a lot!  Smiley

I just honestly think that if you are here and you are participating/looking/learning, then do it the right way!

Forget about the money aspect, help yourself first. This may sound a little bit like double standards as I have a signature campaign on here, but i might as well if i'm here right? It's not the primary reason i'm here. Learn to make content that people find helpful and engaging. Try and have a positive outlook, look at it from the perspective of YOU being the one who is giving out the merit- would you give merit to the vast majority of posts in here? I wouldn't.

I'm no expert but i'm trying. All the knowledge I need is here and on the web, I just have to find it, digest it, shape it and then present it in a way that people find useful and informative. This isn't rocket science guys, all you have to do is try a little harder. If your mindset is right- you are almost there.

Thank you for this. It has helped a lot of newbies (including me) to once again check what is the primary aim in engaging a forum like this. Earning is an enticing reason, but having that purpose alone won't suffice if one wants to have a purposeful and meaningful participation. Indeed, what is truly essential is to have a right mindset and things will fall in its rightful place.

It is good to see that more and more people are appreciating the positive side of merit system. You know when I was seeing the merit system for the first time, I am really frustrated because I cannot fully accept that in order to rank up I need a lot of merits, I cannot accept that merit can cause delay in ranking up.

But when I see the efforts of lower rank members who are sacrificing their precious time just to make a useful and quality post that helps for the betterment of the community really inspires me a lot. That is the time that I realized the usefulness of the merit system.

It really takes time to digest these newly implemented rules, but I know most of the newbies here will realize it sooner.

Reading the messages here, I was inspired by how people with high rank supported newcomers, I unfortunately do not have such support in the Russian stream (

Yes, in every forum that I've checked, many members with high rank are always there to give great information, gives warnings and support newbies. Very inspiring and I really salute to them.

This is really a good guide for a newbie member like me, sometimes we are just posting without any relevance to the topic just to have an activity and the moderator will just d*lete it.  if we can construct a good comment then do it, not because of the merit or anything else but to add knowledge and information to those who will read it.

I thought that  having a merit reward is not possible for the newbie. Now with better understanding after going through the threads, merit is achievable by newbies.

Good and very useful topic you shared with us. As a newbie I am also greedy and looking for merit without doing anything, but from now I just forgot about all of this like merit, ranks and others. From now I will learn more & more and try to give something new constructive to this forum. Cause this forum is all about help each other and share with each other.
Thanks mate for your worthy contribution.

This is a good post as we know that many on here beg for their merits! No, that will get you nowhere!! Members work hard for their merits by actually taking the time to post something with quality and something that will help someone. Of course, that is the easiest way to earn merits but many do not understand that or they just simply do not want to take the time to write quality posts because all they care about is gaining activity points and ranks!

jjeje, yes. But if they are in here just for gaining activity then they will become "Forever Juniors", a usual specimen, seen in every board through the forum. When I see someone with more than a hundred activity points (which usually means tons of posts) is easy to come to the conclusion of they being shitposters.
Earning merits shall not be so difficult to a newbie, as the Op is demonstrating. He has earn 7 in 2 days (from at least 5 different persons!!), if I'm not wrong, just by writing with some common sense and demonstrating his concern about the forum.
That's all. Is not so difficult, is it?
