It could be that forum users think of higher ranking users as already proven as good posters so they give Merits. As for newbie accounts they probably have to try a little bit harder to earn their first Merit.
In most situations, i think the reverse applies. Higher ranking users are expected to have more knowledge on certain cryptocurrency topics (this is not always the case, but mostly is), and so they are judged using a much higher bench mark than newbie accounts. New members to the forum can be merited for showing genuine curiosity and willingness to learn. The fact that there are lots of newbies who spam the forum makes it a lot easier as it is relatively easy to spot the good posters.

To rank up, one has to put in the effort, this is an online forum and you are judged by the content you put out. Be constructive, do thorough research and be willing to learn.

True. As I said, I didn't pay that much attention about the ranking of a user that I send Merit to. I wrote that because @santosmichael said that newbies have to try harder to earn their first Merit. As for me, if I see a useful post, I will merit it (if I have sMerits at that time). It doesn't matter if a user is Newbie or Legendary.

A similar topic has already caused controversy more than once at the very beginning of the implementation of the merit system.
But as practice shows even now, high-ranking forum members are very willing to measure newcomers if they really deserve it (and sometimes even when not).
No need to strain and set a goal to earn merit at any cost, it’s better to relax and enjoy learning and talking on the forum. In this case, merit will come to you naturally.

Newcomers at first after many problems But gradually they also became much more efficient Airdrops are doing a lot of scams now It would be better to join the grace campaign. But you need qualifications before you can join the grace campaign So first try to qualify without thinking about earning and analyze different places. Post nice and helpful Doesn't post any spamming or copy If anyone benefits from your post then of course you can qualify Stay active in the forum and try to post good quality.

My advise to you on the last question is to work hard and earn merits. when you have enough merits. move to the service sections to join bounty payments that pays in ethereum and bitcoins. this the only sure way to earn a penny here. do not listen or join any airdrop activities here because it is a business for some scam people.

Yes, some airdrops didnt have value at all, and i ever got scammed too..
Anyway thank for advice, sir.
For me i will slowly to increases activity as long merit to join bounty payment as you explain...

What is that they are not understanding? It is as simple as anyone can understand. Post on this forum to increase the activity and earn merit by the forum members for the quality post and rank based on the merit and activities achieved.

As you said, some people are going here and there and not focused on what they are doing, and not reading the pinned posts in the forum is making them not understand anything.

And if you are actually looking for earning in this forum, first read and post good content and increase your rank. Later join some signature campaigns and look for some bounty programs to earn from that.

There are so many similar posts like that asking about how to make money here and how to acquire merits but everything has been compiled but they keep on ignoring those pinned messages, newbies should just read a lot of information instead of asking, these forum is already ten years old, and there are no lack of information about how this forum works.

True. Users are so lazy to read few pages/topics in Beginners & Help section, rules and use search, so they create same topics and complain how difficult ranking system really is...These users only see forum as a source of income, but not knowledge...

Theymos should make new users to pass test while registering an account. First they should read forum rules and ranking system, then pass the test and their account will be created.

if you are the type of person who is curious, you will definitely find and read "help" at the top of the forum.
Every thread is usually pinned about what are the restrictions and are allowed to be posted.
even there are many guides in this forum if you want to look for it

My best advice for other newbies like myself is not to think too much about activity and merits, instead focus on learning more about this forum and contribute what you can, the more you do this the better you will become very familiar with the forum and you will be able to understand better

Just make merit and activity as a bonus for your effort since you will need this after you learn something here, And hope you read Lauda's created thread since it can help newbies to navigate on what you need to do and what things you need to lean here check this https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/newbies-read-before-posting-1689727

And the one most important thing that how are we gonna earn from here???

We all hope that your recent browsing activities in the forum thought you also to read the pinned thread carefully and give it an attention. It doesnt seem you are here to learn nor to educate as you first intend to somehow give an attention on flaws of other newbies and explicitly asked how to earn.. Man, greed is not a good motivation here in forum. A week or 2, you'll see urself giving up if u focused on earning..

I think from now on rather than talking about earning attempt to learn something by analyzing different places using your skills and knowledge. study this forum first then believe earning Qualification is what you get on your skills you're right. There are many sites within the forum to extend the rank attempt to learn patiently Read different sites Read the posts well you'll benefit tons from this and you'll easily realize the forum.

It's all about the rank system. Each rank have it's own requirements (amount of merit and activity). The activity is what you earn when you post in any thread on any board. Each merit is from any forum user that send you a merit because of your post. A total of activity you can earn is 14 within 2 weeks. The activity points doesn't really mean you are very active on the forum. Take a look at some accounts where they have so many post count but less activity points they have. Read more i'm sure you'll understand more about it.

I am here on this forum the last day and observing alot of things that how are the things gonna work, how to do the things and what to do. So there are 3 kinds of newbies,
1. Keen to explore the things.
2. Just going here and there, and getting nothing
3. Left because they are not getting understand

There are one more category that comes only to spam and the moderators will ban them off. Only the first category will survive. Along with exploring the activity and merit, please explore the forum rules: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/unofficial-list-of-official-bitcointalkorg-rules-guidelines-faq-703657

All the best to you and it is great to know that your are exploring from the basis.

I'm also a newbie. and the one that disturbs my mind regarding merit is,

there is a member who ranks newbie answers quite clearly accompanied by links and screenshoot, but does not get merit ,,
but there are high ranking members like heroes and senior members, they answer clearly too, tend to be comments, but they get merit,

are there certain considerations related to this ?  Undecided
sometimes this makes the newbie who has tried to give a good answer but feels disappointed to see how easy the member ranking above is in getting merit compared to newbie members.  Cry

and thank you for listening newbie problem  Smiley Smiley

I dare you to give us examples. Prove it. It's the typical crappy "OnLy HiGh RaNk mEmBeRs ReCeiVe MeRiT" excuse that's mostly made by people who doesn't know crap about Bitcoin hence couldn't receive any merits.

Actually if anything, I give merit less to the high ranks because my sMerits are always really low.

I didn't notice that higher ranking users get their posts merited more often than newbies. But I'm not paying too much attention to that so maybe you are right. As for reasons... It could be that forum users think of higher ranking users as already proven as good posters so they give Merits. As for newbie accounts they probably have to try a little bit harder to earn their first Merit. That could be because there is a lot of newbie accounts that are just shitposting and spamming. But after you earn your first Merot it should become easier because you won't be a newbie any more.
