Hello fellow newbies! I've gotta say, this whole digital cryptocurrency mining business is pretty interesting stuff. I just started mining several various alt coins a few days ago and already have exchanged what I've mined for about 0.25BTC. So it looks like I'll be buying a dedicated mining machine now.

I'm having to restrain myself some with the Exchanges too. I got a little addicted to the Steam Market when they first released trading cards, but alt currency trading is so much more interesting with the exchange rates going all over the place so much.

What's a good machine for mining altcoins?  GPU rig?

Hi

Is the newbie hangout a good place to get an answer to this question :

It seems that the only way to trade in alternative currencies like devcoin, namecoin is to get bit coin first and then trade for alt's at an exchange.
Can you generate addresses and keys off line (cold storage) for alt currencies just like you can with bit coin od do you have to trust the exchange with your address and keys ?

Hi Jed, welcome to the forum. In general, yes, that is an easy way. Buy BTC first, then move/sell to an exchange that handles the alts you are interested in. There are probably several offline generators, here is one for litecoin.

In the next 3 years, 1 bitcoin will be worth more than 1 oz of gold.

Bitcoin's already approaching the price of an ounce of gold! I think Bitcoin's could settle around the $10,000 to $15,000 range and have significantly less volatility, about the same volatility as silver.

Crazy day at Just-Dice.

just dice? sorry newb here whats that?

It's a gambling site where the house bankroll is made of public funds.
If you have some btc of your own, you can go there and invest in the house (or gamble).

There's a thread about it in the security section of this forum (Marketplace -> Securities).
