I know a thread here said newbies stop teaching when they need to learn on the forum. I am a newbie and this is not teaching, but I want to share with other newbies like myself a simple tip to avoid getting banned on the forum

It's a good idea to check for plagiarism before posting anything here, but if you come up with your own ideas, there's no need to do it again because you can be sure that what you wrote is original. If you do, it will still show you that there's no plagiarism, in my opinion. The only time I check for plagiarism, though, is when I want to start a new thread because I can see that there are already several threads here.

Quote
The tip I use to ensure that I avoid plagiarism is to always run my topics or comments through a plagiarism checker website.

How long will it take you to respond to a post if  you have to checked it for plagiarism? These will probably take you a while. All I can suggest is that  you should try to understand what you want to respond to in order to develop your own viewpoint on the subject. When you wish to respond to a post, I don't think you need to check for plagiarism for reply. Just be careful not to paste someone else's concept and claim it as your own.

Hear me out. If you're not copying/pasting from other sites or using Chat GPT to make your comments, then you won't get flagged for any sort of plagiarism. If you are contributing organic and valuable content, then you have nothing to worry about.

If you found another site, resource, or quality thread about a topic and it is relevant to a thread here on Bitcoin Talk, it shouldn't be an issue for you to just share a link to that thread and mention how and why you find it helpful.

Using a plagiarism checker tool to run your post whenever you want to make post in the forum is not advisable provided that you did not copy your post from anywhere.

Plagiarism is not something that happens by chance. If you do not copy from any source, there is no how you will become a plagiarist. It is only necessary to use those plagiarism checker tools when you have written a very lengthy post out of research. So you wouldn't know if you have mistakenly copied some paragraph or sentence online because you made some research, then it is necessary to use those tools to be very sure.

I write from my head and still use a plagiarism checker. There is nothing to be ashamed of. Sometimes, when you read a lot, you may write and think that what you are writing is actually coming from your head, not realizing that it is an idea you have gotten from somewhere in the past. So yes, I use a plagiarism checker and reference it where possible – better safe than sorry.

Did you also check if these words you wrote were plagiarism?

You can read thousands of books, and you can even use sentences from things you've read. But, if you write a post in your own words, you have zero plagiarism!
Plagiarism is copying someone else's text and publishing it as your own.

Writing something from scratch can never be plagiarism, because that text did not exist before you wrote it. But could it have looked like another text? You can, words are the same for all people, and if the text is about the same subject, it can be similar. But, if it was written by you and your head, from scratch, it cannot be plagiarism.

I think the tips and suggestions you provide are very complicated, especially for a beginner. Just imagine, if every post that has been made, you have to check the writing through the site that you are suggesting, so that you know whether the writing that has been made is plagiarism or not. Even though if when you are writing the post, it is clear that you are not copying and pasting or imitating other people's writing, it means that it is clear that the post is not a plagiarism post, and you don't need to check it on the site you are suggesting. So the advice you give is too complicated.

Because basically if a beginner really wants to have quality and useful writing for fellow members in this forum. The point is to learn a lot, especially about bitcoin and crypto. Then, it is mandatory to read the rules and conditions in this forum, so that you don't commit a violation, which can result in a permanent ban. So it's as simple as that and there's no need to do anything as complicated as you suggest. And most importantly, be yourself, don't imitate others and be confident when you want to make a post on this forum.

Plagiarism checker? So you have doubts in your own words, eh?

If it's your own words meaning it came on your mind, didn't get any sentence/s online, and you built that post on your own then you don't need a plagiarism checker. Just don't copy paste online (or if you will, at least share the link here), make your own post, you're good. I've made lots of posts already, but I didn't ever try to get sentences online because I'm thinking it myself though there are times where I need to quote on some websites, I always post the link here.

Maybe it's a good thing to share OP, but it isn't necessary even for newbies to have a plagiarism checker as long as the words isn't copy-pasted online. Knowledge is power. Smiley

I see @OP is a merit hunter, he used to create a new thread in order to gain more attention and then never comeback to his thread to replying other users' posts

@OP show me the moderator or administrator post where using AI to create a post will make you get banned? what I know the moderator only ban plagiarized post, that's it.

Avoid plagiarized post is easy, you just need to write it using your brain, that's all. If you create a post by yourself, there's no way you will plagiarized someone else work and need to check your post using plagiarism checker.

How in the world is this "merit hunting" or whatever you call it? Will receiving merits add a dollar to my pockets? Please, just stop it.

I write from my head and still use a plagiarism checker. There is nothing to be ashamed of. Lastly, I have read all the comments here and on my previous topics. I will improve on my posting and try to go back and reply other users' posts. thank you for comments.

I dont think you need that, or any checker, simply creating your own topic, and making sure its the original and not just copying it,
making original topic also makes you confident in what you do, what will happen if you always have a pattern, just make a topic you like, that will be discuss with sense in the forum and your good, don't just post anything just to add to your activity,

If you are the one replying to the thread, you do not need to use Plagiarism checker because we ourselves know whether we took the information from the internet or not.  If we get our reply from the article on the net then we only need to give the link to the information we stated.

Aside from that, following the forum rule is enough to keep our accounts away from being banned.  I believe there is no need to complicate things.

You will not need paid and free programs to check for plagiarism if you write your messages by yourself. If, however, you check your messages for plagiarism, then you know that you are partially using someone else's texts and you are trying to protect yourself with such a check.

If you create your own content, I don't see any point in checking it through such tools, because it turns out that you don't trust yourself and that way you're just wasting time. If you don't copy text from other sources and don't use AI chat, then you don't have to be afraid of being banned - the only thing that can happen to you is that your post will be deleted because someone reported it as spam, low value or repetitive content.

Therefore, I would advise you to review previous posts before writing a post and to definitely avoid megathreads in which there really isn't anything new to write.
Exactly. Focus on your own content and learn to improve it as much as you can. That will show how much have you learned in the forum. And don’t be lazy on doing everyday researches because that will certainly improve your learning so you can have something valuable to say about the thread/topic. Plagiarism is an act of laziness, you want to have a perfect explanation yet you don’t know how to provide it on your own.

Just by simply avoiding plagiarism by not copying from the original author, and have your own say on the topic based on your own gained knowledge and experience. That way, you will never be subject into plagiarism and you will come to avoid being banned in the forum. No need for any tip, just do what is right and learn to avoid what is certainly wrong. That way, you will have a lasting stay in the forum safe and sound.

you are overthinking this too much and unnecessarily wasting time. if you know to yourself that you are the one who created the content of your post, you do not need to run it on a plagiarism checker. and if you are going to quote a book, an article, etc... you can easily mention that you have read it somewhere.

For Artificial Intelligence checker, I found this thread, AI Spam Report Reference Thread by nutildah to know the tools used to check for AI to avoid getting banned.
As far as I know, if someone is found to be using an AI text generator, the post is just simply deleted. I've never heard of someone getting banned hear on the forum for copy-pasting an AI text generator(or have I missed it?).

More sites like 1text.com and Quilbot.com can also be used to check for plagiarism, and they are free for certain stages but require an upgrade when requesting premium service.
Am confident about my post, so why do I have to use any plagiarism check for my post, if maybe you have done some manipulation that’s why you will want to use plagiarism checker to confirm if you are successful or you are still having some edition to make. I noticed some people do use Quilbot to correct their grammar, most people that English is not their native language, so after writing Quilbot is always helping them to correct some errors in their post, but I don’t know that Quilbot is also used to check for plagiarism in a post.

Do we actually need all these?
A good piece of content generated from one's own thinking should have nothing to do with plagiarism, unless you copy some part and think it may not show up on the websites you are checking. Meanwhile,  there are other plagiarism checkers that are perfect and can expose such minor plagiarisms.
No matter how smart you think you are, if you plagiarize then you will definitely be exposed, even if you copied just one line, you might use 1text to check it and it will be showing 100 percent unique, but if you use another advance plagiarism check, it’s going to show where you copied everything from, so that’s why it’s just better we shouldn’t involve ourselves in anything illegal, if you know you are copying a post from a website, then make sure you add your source link and nobody will accuse you of plagiarism for that.

Anyone who is knowledgeable enough and that knows what he is doing doesn't go through all those process as I believe there is no need for using them. Using those tools shows that you don't read through the thread before commenting or making your post, sometimes if you wanna create topics is better you used the search option to know if such topics has already been created to avoid being penalized there is nothing much difficult here as I believe here is a very free place only if you adhered to the rules and regulations of the forum.

What's the point of all that if you write from your own thoughts, original works that you make on the forum no longer need to use the plagiarism checker website, it's just a waste of time in my opinion. This tool is used by someone who is suspicious of other members post on suspicion of plagiarism writing from another source. The tips you share here lead to how to teach newbies to avoid plagiarism bans, I really appreciate your efforts, but you don't need to do this as long as you write and don't take snippets from other sources.
Simply put - avoid plagiarism even if you should get knowledge from external sources when replying to a post. The real tip is to quote it - add the source and it should help. But I agree - if the post was made based on your own knowledge then you shouldn't bother checking for plagiarism.

The OP was being too paranoid about the rules that shouldn't be broken - but that's actually too much of a hassle.

What you need is checking your grammar and vocabularies, punctuations with https://www.grammarly.com/. The free account is useful to help you checking grammar and basic faults then correct them.
I checked the site you provide it link above and I must admit that it's good but unfortunately I would not advice anyone to use it. I don't know the developer and the motive behind requesting the permission for the app to have control over someone's phone. For security reasons, I immediately deny permission and uninstall the app before my phone security and other privacy get compromise.

To me, all this is unnecessary if you make all your comments/thread organically, in the sense that you create your comments by yourself and avoid copy and pest instead put in the effort to generate quality posts organically this way you do not need to border yourself going through plagiarism checker or AI detector because you create 100% of your posts are made copy free.

Running every post you do on a plagiarism checker will be time-consuming. You don't have to be afraid of getting banned if your posts are your thoughts. And I don't also think that there is any rule that forbids members from getting information from other sources. The simple thing to do is to reference the source of copied content accordingly. Referencing shouldn't also be an opportunity for anyone to constantly copy and paste information on the forum without making any input. Your post should be quality which means you should put in some work. Notwithstanding if using a plagiarism checker is a personal strategy of avoiding plagiarism to you, go ahead and use it.

A great reminder for all of us. Because plagiarism is a thing that we all should avoid even if we are newbies or legendary members. Because ranks are just status which might not represent one mindset correctly. Means senior members might also make mistakes or took meaning of something totally wrong while newbies can understand it correctly.

The point being made here is for you OP, which is you need not to answer anybody's negative behaviour or discouraging behaviour. If you wanted to grow like a flower then you have to bear some difficulties but saying the words of your hearts like you shared here. Will also do the work.

I totally agreed with you, i also read many AI written post lately, in which people are making AI post just to meet there quota. Just saying not accusing anyone.

I believe your intention is good but for me, I guess it’s not necessary. As long as you keep on doing your intensive research that makes you knowledgeable and even high experienced in the market, then there’s no need to copy answers from the internet or any legit sources but compose answers based on how you understand or comprehend about the topic so that you will have your own originality and not just a copy cat that tries to steal ideas from its original author.

OP you are actually making a sense but I don't think we need Artificial Intelligence checker to Avaluate our post because I believe that there is no way you can write a statement or comments based on your understanding on a particular topic that would be the same as other persons statements or comment, take for instance your perception and other persons views can never be the same at all, so to me Artificial intelligence checker is not important in making a post because I can write from my own understanding which can never be the same as others.

that's pretty good advice for a double-check. but actually, if you write everything yourself from your thoughts. it's not necessary. even if you copy and paste but you include references to what you share, you will not be said to be plagiarism.
the key is knowledge. if you have knowledge then you will not make mistakes in plagiarism.
those who commit plagiarism on purpose clearly want to hunt for Merit. want to appear knowledgeable but when caught they will look stupid.

To avoid plagiarism is very simple. All you have to do is to produce the content as original from you brain (IQ) without imitation and paragraphing. When you used your brain to write and you are not sure of it then you can on your grammarly app to check if there are any errors and if you like to check for plagiarism check, then grammarly plagiarism software is also there as well for you to make use of it. But if you write alone then there is nothing to be afraid of.

This is right. Only those who are guilty will use the plagiarism checking tool. Of course how often we can say that the idea is copy from someone, even so there are users who still uses words or sentences from others and try to make it their own to make it more look amazing or bold response. But the fact is, you just copied it from someone so why celebrate it cause you didnt learn that on your own.

I mean its kind of normal since newbies are beginners and on the forum, they dont have a lot of experience yet on the forum, so for sure they still need to get familiar with the forums with the rules, etc, If you want to avoid getting banned in the forum you just need to follow the rules here. You can check this link Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ.

Plagiarism is a common problem since its a forum we do write a lot here and there are just a lot of members that doesnt want to participate on that and they tend to just copy and paste articles on the internet thinking that it might be helpful and probably get merit as well using that. I mean it's easy if you dont know about the topic just dont comment on it and avoid copying something on the internet there is a very low chance that your gonna get plagiarism especially if you're just constructing your post by yourself, plus you could also use the plagiarism checker as you said, it also detects AI work I think.

Just post according to what you learn and never violate any rules of the forum and you will be fine, you just need to be organic poster to avoid any problem and do more research so that you can answer any question or can share your opinion on the thread and will not be a nonsense guy just pop up and post unrelated words to the topic posted.

I will never use a plagiarism checker to check my posts and comments, I am comfortable and confident about what I post that comes from my own writing and views, there may be similarities from other posts but my style of writing will differentiate it, and the one thing that I recommend to do is to establish your own style and have a character here in Bitcointalk so there will no suspicious that you are using a bot to write for you.

I know a thread here said newbies stop teaching when they need to learn on the forum.

This is not to discourage newbies fro giving their own contributions on discussions but you can't expect some inexperienced newbies giving ideas on what they also needed to have been experienced it before knowing what to give to encourage and advise others, a single blind mind cannot lead other fellow blinds else they all fall together in a pit, there are other discussions and matters where newbie can share their opinions but not on areas they needed to have an experience before knowing what to contribute.

The tip I use to ensure that I avoid plagiarism is to always run my topics or comments through a plagiarism checker website.

How long will you keep on running a plagiarism checker on your posts or topic created, as far as you don't engage in doing copy and paste, paraphrasing or other illegitimate use of postings ethics, you're always good to post, you only beeds to occasional search the forum to know if the topic you're about to create had not been discussed before, same also apllies to use of AI checkers, you shouldn't bother yourself if you're sure you don't go near them.

Or you plagiarize and trying to avoid plagiarism and reword what you plagiarized so you used those tools for more correction in a way to avoid ban? Because if you do not plagiarize, you do not need plagiarism checker. Also the same goes to the use of AI to post on this forum. I neither use plagiarism checker not any AI tool for my posts.

If you don't copy and paste, spin words, text with idea and content from somewhere, you don't need to use Plagaiarism checking tools to check your posts.

What you need is checking your grammar and vocabularies, punctuations with https://www.grammarly.com/. The free account is useful to help you checking grammar and basic faults then correct them.

I didn’t think you needed all these if you were writing something from your own view and understanding; only people who copy from the internet are getting banned for plagiarism.

I think the best is for them to stop being eager to get merits; instead, they should learn first, and after that, they will definitely be able to create or reply to a thread without thinking of plagiarism.

Although your idea of checking the plagiarism in some of these plagiarism checkers is good in order to avoid being banned for plagiarism in the forum.

I know a thread here said newbies stop teaching when they need to learn on the forum. I am a newbie and this is not teaching, but I want to share with other newbies like myself a simple tip to avoid getting banned on the forum by a offence, which, in the real world, can get you jailed as an academic or fined and punished as a regular person.

The tip I use to ensure that I avoid plagiarism is to always run my topics or comments through a plagiarism checker website. There are free ones and paid ones available. Depending on your budget, you can choose which one works for you. Personally, I use the free ones.

The free Plagiarism checker I use the most is 1text.com

For Artificial Intelligence checker, I found this thread, AI Spam Report Reference Thread by nutildah to know the tools used to check for AI to avoid getting banned.
