The major issue here is that it's owned by a business. No one business should be able to operate/own a currency, it's completely unethical and dangerous if it actually was adopted.

i don't get how some people are angry at ripple with a passion. it only makes people more curious about it. and when they do try it, they'd soon find out that it ain't that bad after all. transactions are confirmed in seconds, built in exchange, currency conversion, etc...

I "mine" some ripple over at computingforgood with boinc and the cpus on my miners. It is constantly decreasing in value and I just sell it off for btc as soon as I get it at Kraken. Ripple is not a good investment, imo.
also note that ripple labs is now gearing down the computing for good giveaway to focus on bounties for gateways. I have been receiving payments this month but i expect them to end soon.
