Bitcoin has lost two of its main advantages, speed and low transaction fees. It's either time to fix it, or time to pick a new leader.

(1) Bitcoin didn't lose any speed in terms of transactions.
(1.1) Bitcoin didn't lose any speed in terms of confirmations.
(2) The fees would eventually grow to a sizeable amount anyway, it's just that it happened a bit sooner than most people here expected.

I am using Bitcoin in the exact same way as I have always done, why am I not experiencing any difficulties when it comes to getting my transactions confirmed? Is it because I don't move dust back and forth? Is it also because I include a proper fee, taking the current network situation in consideration? Wink

I stopped predicting bitcoin price already. It has no use anyway, you cannot totally predict the price of bitcoin. It move up or down as it will. I just go with the flow now. If it goes up, I sell. If it goes down, I hold or buy if I have fiat to spare.

I am pretty sure the next milestone will be in near future when the soft/hard fork happens to solve the scaling problem.

If this is indeed possible, it would attract more people to use Bitcoin now that each block can handle more transactions, and I would predict the Bitcoin price to jump even higher now when more people use it.

I wouldn't say much until it is successful, and I am really excited for its success. Cheesy

2017 will be lucky year for bitcoin as well as for bitcoin users because South Korea going to legalize bitcoin and china the world most powerful country also legalize bitcoin in their country soon.

Well this is a great news that China is legalizing the Bitcoin and this surely will effect the overall value and adaptation.
Bitcoin has already broke many records in 2017 as far as price is concerned and the price will go past 3000$ by the end of this year.
This year lots of good news has been coming into bitcoin in a larger scale. Hope the same will continue throughout the year, as we need to travel the second half of the year. Right now starting from Japan, Australia has legalized and now South Korea and China has come up with the plans.

I'm waiting on reading about the first milestone, where is it because I can't see any? if price increasing from $2400 to $2580 is a milestone then it's just for you not a real one, whenever all the miners agreed on scaling without chain split and without additional loss of funds drama and whenever fees dropped back to normal and more than 10 transactions were processed every second I'd call that a true milestone not this one.

The next milestone for bitcoin, in my opinion, is scaling. It's too slow at the moment, and there aren't a while lot of people using bitcoin that much. If we had as many people using the  Bitcoin network as say, PayPal, it would be completely unusable. Until we scale, everything else is moot; layers, new functionality and updates are useless on a product that essentially doesn't work.

Bitcoin has lost two of its main advantages, speed and low transaction fees. It's either time to fix it, or time to pick a new leader.

We will see whether in the next month bitcoin problem finally could be solved, then it would be the next milestone for bitcoin.
After those problem ended, we expect for more adopters and merchants use bitcoin as an alternative currency in various places which will increase demand of bitcoin. When it reach $10,000, that's another milestone.

I'm sure after August 1, when the dust settles all the passions we see a big price spike and the threshold is 3300 dollars will be stopped in September-October this year, and by year end we can see $ 4,000.

I agree with hardtime!

Its a simple case of fixing the transaction times and sorting the fees
this will enable proper useage of bitcoin for micro payments etc.

A more stable price needs to happen also for traders to get fully on board.
the price can rise [and fall] in a more stable way but im not sure if this is
possible given the decentralised nature of it.

The first hurdle for a price increase as the OP mentions is the August 1st thing.

I think the only milestones that people on here and the entire bitcoin community should be worrying about is going to have to be expanding in general, at the moment we do have a lot of users -- that's not something I'm not even going to try to deny that. But if we're going to be comparing ourselves to Credit Cards, Debit Cards, Paypal, and so on and so forth we're not even going to be making a dent in their stuff. We're going to need to fix bitcoin and innovate to be able to get more people along with it, people aren't just going to come cause we say it's cool and all-- fees need to be lowered, continuing to fix the network congestion, faster tx, and so on and so forth. That's all from me.s

Your prediction is too low. Bitcoin will reach that 3300,usd in just few weeks. I think by the of December bitcoin is already 5k to 6k. Just try to imagine bitcoin is 1k usd on January 2017.. Now it is almost 3k
Anyone can speculate any value, the bitcoin prices were around 1 k this January but that does not mean that the price will keep on growing this year,no market will provide a bull run every now and then,we had a good rally, the price will stabilize for a while and then we might see another rally at the end of this year.

There was a lot of topics already about future of bitcoin in 2017 Smiley After a great rise in May when people were saying that it will be by the end around 5000$, after dump they were saying, that it will drop down to 2000$. I think it would be around 3000$ or maybe more, also it depends how news in August will affect bitcoin price Smiley

Sod price. The only milestone worth anyone's attention is a successful scaling solution that enough people are happy enough with. Nothing else comes close.

Well we have broken a previous record price this year already, so I do not know if we going to do it once again? If we do, I would predict that it

would go much higher than it's previous record and it might even touch $4000 by the end of 2017. We still have Black Friday and we still have

Xmas coming up, and during these times there are a bigger demand for coins, so the price might go higher during these periods.  Cool

i am expecting the same thing that it should touch 4000$ by the end of 2017, i read a news today that japan remove all taxes on bitcoin and china and south korea legalize bitcoin in their country this year so i think or i wish that this year bitcoin will reach highest price of all time.

next milestone for bitcoin should be more adoption, a lot more merchants accepting it as payment.
it should be that when you look at the number of transactions per day you can say for sure that at least 80% of them are from people who are using bitcoin to buy stuff. not 80% of it is from people moving bitcoin from exchanges to their wallets.
I would like to see more adaptation and a lot of merchants should accept bitcoin payment and we need more technology and upgrades when it comes to merchant based acceptance and if we could improve on that then that is the next milestone.

Adaptation of bitcoin can not be derived from simple advertising; it needs a more important factor, namely, the influence of governments.
that's the biggest deal to face off i think also if government will provide extra effort to accept bitcoin as a system of currency it may hype
the price and will allow more people to understand how can life be change using this investment.

To OP: This is a clear speculation type thread so kindly move it to where it belongs.

It seems that you are underestimating Bitcoin. Climbing between 3200 and 3300 USD should be very easy for Bitcoin at its current state. If ever the segwit activation be a success that impacts its price positively then we will be seeing Bitcoin more than 4000 USD at the end of this year. Oh, add Australia, India, and South Korea to the list.

As we see bitcoin start rising again what you predict about bitcoin's price by the end of 2017?? I predict bitcoin's price will be in between 3200$ to 3300$ by the end of this year.
First of all, that's not Bitcoin's milestone, that's our milestone.
So the highest Bitcoin price was 2800$, after this segwit2x, its price should grow up 20% to 3000$, at the end of this year, I think its price can reach 3200$ Smiley

It seems your math is not functioning well. The 20% of 2800 is 560 to instead of 3000, it should be $3360. You are just adding 200 to every amount which is clearly not 20% just like in your thoughts. Well id you are thinking about the 20% of 1000, then I'll give it to you.

I am quite optimistic so price might reach way higher than just $3300 by end of this year. Floor for price is $2500 right now because there is strong support at this level. We might see few more rounds of pumps which can easily boost price to over $4000.

By the way, title is quite misleading. You should add bitcoin price in place of bitcoin in title and move this thread to speculation.

There are so many things need to do before we can see something like that because there will be process that needs to be made and a country accepting bitcoin, even know there are several countries that have accept bitcoin there are still so many country that are not into it I think this is the stepping stone that needs to be made.
