So how low the price can go, what do you think ?

Everybody is saying they will buy at $200.  Grin

Look at the trend. Only chance at $200 is either

- Bull trap (short and steep)
- Whalefault (Whale making a typo, got to have your order in)

Other than that, the days of $2xx are ending.

Well good riddance then

Are the general public going to be stumping up FIAT in the run up to Christmas, when there are presents to buy?

I'm guessing the current rebound is just a correction and will settle down again in the next couple of weeks.

You think people won't buy bitcoin because they have Christmas presents to buy, seriously? Smiley

If the overall trend in bitcoin is not broken then this bear market, whilst painful, is simply a prelude to another jaunt higher. What makes you think we are headed lower out of interest?

Yeah, people like myself that are on a monthy wage will be planning Chritsmas, and that could preclude them from splashing out on BTC. Is that so hard to understand?

I know I will

I know you won't.

Yes people have a common misconception that when they see the price of a commodity (that they want to accumulate) drop significantly, that they will buy. The reality is that market sentiment is skewed negatively by the price action and they actually don't buy, but instead have an urge to sell. Separating emotion from large scale purchases with your own wealth is sometimes easier said than done Smiley

I can't believe my own eyes. I thought you'd never admit this.

Yep. *If* the price really breaks down to 200 the sentiment will be "we all gonna die right now", so 99% of people who say they are waiting for cheap coins will just start waiting for $10 coins or some other silly target. People who did want to buy low, had bought below 300 three days ago; that was probably it.

The phrase "dead cat bounce" is getting so overused as to become meaningless.
True. This particular dead cat clearly has the elasticity of a Super Ball.

You guys know that it doesn't mean any increase which is then followed by a decrease, right? It refers to a specific pattern where a swift fall is followed by a small and short-lived rally.

The current rally seems, to my eye, to be a sharp correction to bit of fairly blatant market manipulation. Even if you believe that the medium-term downtrend is going to continue, the drop to ~300 was an aberration and this correction isn't a dead cat anything.

FWIW, I'm not convinced that this rally will represent an end to the medium-term downtrend either, but the fall to 300 wasn't part of that downtrend either, but an above-and-beyond spike downwards caused by a whale selling a whole lot of bitcoins at once. I would not draw any conclusions about the long-term prospects, one way or another, from the fall-and-correction.
