I like everything apart from the avatar in the center.
It looks like something you would see at a psychic fair of which I am not a fan Smiley

It seems to go with the back story. (Yes, it seems that SatoshiDice has a back story!)

Would love any comments on the new site design, it's about to be put on SatoshiDice.com domain.

New site:
http://src.satoshidice.com/rev2/

It looks very nice, a good improvement from the old design Smiley

I started off with £100. Gave £20-ish to my friend to play with.
Then I discovered SatoshiDice. It seemed like I was never losing!

My £80 became £234!

Then later on I did more bets, and it's now 0.0002 BTC !

and now MT.GOX had their UK bank account closed so I can't fund Sad

Thats gambling and life for you, ups and downs Wink
I hope your luck turns around soon.

Looks nice. I hope you've prepared for when the bet counter tops 10,000,000. Smaller font?

Gambling is entertainment,

I never saw the entertainment side of things. Maybe with poker. But every time I played that, there were always people so much better that I just couldn't be bothered after a while.

Won again. 8.2 BTC now Wink

Play long enough and you'll lose.

I know. I'm thinking about buying shares in SatoshiDice.

I was a professional poker player, so gambling wasn't such a bad decision for me, but I still think it's a mug's game. I was a winner but the house stole most of my winnings anyway (the Rake, they call it), leaving me with breadcrumbs. Still some fun times though. Now my gamble is a BTC and a prayer. Grin

A few weeks ago I put a small amount in the bottom (safest) box just to see the site in action.

I won, but got less than I put in, because the multiplier didn't cover the transaction fee.

I felt kind of stupid, but my loss was on the order of less than a penny, so I figured out how to get on with my life.

At blockchain.info, they just select a few of the boxes. The safest that they offer is the 73% chance box, which is returning 1.338:1

I'm not sure if you can see the SatoshiDice page on blockchain.info without having an online wallet with them, but it looks like this:

http://imageshack.us/a/img31/7819/dicew.png

You see your money go down, and because blockchain.info is a live wallet (see how it says Subscribed - it uses WebSockets), you see the money go down, and seconds later you see it either go up by a few pennies (you lost), or jump up higher than it started (you won).

It truly is an "enabler" of SatoshiDice Cheesy

Gambling os completely irrational esspecially if the number are out in the open like thy are here.

LOL, why did you have to remind me about gambling? I just put 1 BTC in the top box* again, and got 1.3376 BTC back..

I'm off to bed now.

(top box being the 73% dice.. using blockchain.info SatoshiDice "enabler").

Gambling is entertainment, but unfortunately many people don't make this realization.  As long as you keep a sane head and see it for what it is, you'll be fine.  You can't lose more than you put into it, and who knows, you may come out ahead! (If you know when to stop).

Since that fateful eve, I have had another shot at the "73% chance" of SatoshiDice (1 - 65535 will be less than 48000) on a couple of occasions.
Just small amounts (1BTC), and I have lost twice, and won once.

What I think I am going to do every now and then is: if I am about to purchase something with some bitcoins, I will take a chance with ~1.2BTC in the less than 48,000 box. If it wins - bonus - my purchase ends up being cheaper, if it loses, then it's dearer! Just for fun..

Fix that title. It should read:
Quote
Nightmare! Gambling = bad.

except for the bet provider...

Only if they don't have enough money to pay out or there's a flaw in their system.

Ah, I miss those days. You stroll up to the slot machine, put in a hundred, win 50 then win another 20, maybe another 100, then next thing you know you're betting max and you lose it all...

Fun times... 'Till your girlfriend gets pissed that you just blew the rent money...

yeah, been there. now when we go to the casino, i take whatever cash i've decided is my play money for the day, leave my credit cards and bank cards hidden in the car.  If i double up, I leave. if i bust out, i leave.  The temptation when yer on a hot streak is tough to resist, but discipline pays out better than risk.
