Because of ICO spam, fake circulating supply, fake volume an much more. Only thing that counts is the community backing it and the volume (+ circulating supply). Those things indicates how healty a crypto is.

Inflation rate for Kenya has been 7% 2014, 8% 2015, 9% 2016, 10% 2017

I took these values into account and got similar results to wexlike. I believe wexlike's was done with a straight 10% inflation, what I did was applied the proper inflation per year to only those cells and then created my charts.

Here you go:

and an extra, to show the effect of inflation (since the other one its not very prominent). you can see the lines begin to diverge over 3 years

To short time frame for compunding interest to have an impact on the slope imo

This is exactly the case. Compounding interest tends to have a noticeable impact when the period of time is around 10 years or greater, OR if the compounding is happening on a much smaller time frame (such as daily)
The longer the time between compounding periods, the more time you need in order to see a significant difference

^ Looks nice! However the 7% interest account can't be a straight line (compounding interest, snowball effect).

You're right, found an error. Trying to fix it now. Smiley

Edit: Well actually not sure if there is an error.

I have 7% interest rate paid out every quarter. For example:

3000
6000
9000
12000 + 0,07/4*9000 = 12157,5

Should be correct ?

And its not a line on longer timescale:

But if you find any error, you can easily fix it in my file. Smiley

A=P(1+(r/n)^(nt))

where

P= 3000 KES ($30 at USD/KES 100)
r=0.07
n=4
t=?

Ok. Thanks for the positive feedback!

here is how it works

Every 1st day of the month, since 1st January 2014 to 1st May 2017, Alice sets aside 3,000 KEs to save

for ease of calculation, use USD/KES rate of 100. $1 = 100 KES

Bob OTOH decided to save the same 3,000 KES on the 1st day of each month from 1st January 2014 to 1st May 2017 into Bitcoin

Alice puts 3,000 into a KES Mshwari savings account that pay 7% interest per annum compounded annually quarterly

bob puts 3,000 KES into Bitcoin at whatever price on that day

Inflation rate for Kenya has been 7% 2014, 8% 2015, 9% 2016, 10% 2017

I would like to know on 1st May of 2017 how much does Alice and Bob have?

Does this make sense?

Besides the total amount,

i would like to see how the savings progressed over time

For this you might consider using the Coindesk price index, and the price of bitcoin on the 1st day of each month since January 1st 2014

Thank you
