There is nothing like  "earn free money or cryptocurrency anywhere". Money  can be earned  only by paying a price which could be.
Earning freely is even still better but there are ways scammers can use to later scam the person after not giving the person any money. But scammers also still do it in a way you will have to pay, which makes it not to be free. If the person pay, the person will be scammed. Example is the Elon Musk Saturday Night Life where a scammer in an ad people thought to be Elon Musk. The scammer displayed to people to pay an amount of doge and they will get it back in double. The scammer gained overe 5 million dollars worth of doge at the time.

Back then, they were kind of worth it. I started holding Bitcoin during the start of 2017 where they weren't that really worth the work anymore. I still recall having to register multiple websites to "at least make it worth", but having the minimum satoshi which was around 20k sat is already exhausting to do considering that I have more productive activities to do the whole day.
I wonder how were faucets for those that have been holding Bitcoin since 2011-2013.

There is no free lunch.

You have to work, pay cost before you can earn anything from market. Cost can be from paid-courses or from your loss by trading or investment.
In crypto market, if you luckily join in bullish time, and get luck, you can get good profit in short period. However, if you lack of experience and can not control your actions, you will lose it very fast.

In the end, you end with nothing from market and worse you can lose your capital too.

In the case of faucets, they give so little that I do not doubt that it covers the cost of the electricity or battery you spend.

If we look at the value in fiat, then faucets pay almost the same as 5-6 years ago, only the amount in crypto decreased, which is logical given that the price of BTC has risen several dozen times since then. I know this because I earned my first BTC just like that, but then it wasn't hard to earn BTC, because you could collect 500 000 satoshi a day.

Then, if you withdraw a lot from different faucets you will have a lot of small inputs and you will have to pay a high commission to spend them (if you don't learn to consolidate inputs in times of low fees). But well, it's not all bad. Faucets are a first approach to Bitcoin. I think many of the forum used them at the time.

Most faucets today use something called microwallets, and they used them 5-6 years ago - it all comes down to collecting small payouts from faucets, and then when you reach the desired threshold you request a withdrawal to your coin address. It is a myth that still lives on, but has been completely inaccurate for many years.

As for earnings, if you have a certain number of referrals (active) on one of today's popular faucets, you can earn a decent amount per month - especially if you live in a third-world country.

It's always the same when we hit peek cycle. Everyone and their moms who heard about crypto start peeking out and wanting to earn a quick buck. And I always tell them to just stop and think things through, not rush into anything, especially with their hard-earned money. This is not a closed club, everyone can join in, but not haphazardly.

The thing is, many people erroneously see cryptocurrencies as a scheme to basically just get rich fast, and not just that, they also think that 'wealth' will come to them with little or zero effort, and as a result of that, they are allured to jump on anything that looks good, and you do not expect them to be conversant with the axiom of : "anything that looks too good to be true, is most prolly a scam", and as such, this sort of people get easily scammed, lose a whole lot of their funds, and get to learn about crypto the 'hard way'.

Having said that, it's not just about people coming to the realization that there is nothing such as free money, they must also acquire the necessary and requisite knowledge of cryptocurrency, such as understanding its security protocols and modus operandi of scammers, that way they'll be aware when conversing with a possible scammer. Garnering knowledge is what a whole lot of newcomers need to thrive in the network.

You are on point about earning for free. But what's more prone in scams are those with capitals and ready for investment. They're looking for a way to increase their holdings and that's why they're falling into scam investment traps.

Little did they know that a legitimate investment is also the same in the real world where interest rates aren't that much. And if the interest rate given to them is too good to be true and they're likely to be encouraged to invest because of the high return, that's where they should be doubtful with it.

The only thing that is free is that when someone donates money to you. Then you use that money to buy and hold crypto. Or you can use it to buy either ETH, BNB, SOL, MATIC, etc., for covering gas fees in receiving airdrop tokens and trade them on available exchanges.

Airdrops still exists not really a huge fan if it but people made huge amount of money with UNI airdrop so there are some exceptions but there is no free money because no one is going to give you money without any benefits for them. Bitcoin giveaways, investment with unrealistic returns and anything it is too good to be true is nothing but a scam.

Free money only comes to people who are not working and risking, here in crypto, it's not happening because we need to have knowledge and to risk our money in order to gain, maybe some earn crypto through bounties or whatever their work online but it's not free, they work for it and they wouldn't get paid for the job if they don't do it right.

Crypto gives an opportunity to earn or to make money but it does not come for free, that's the reality.

The type of material scams is even a pay one, the scammer will ask the victim for some money as capital which will grow many times over. If it's a "free money" scam, there are 2 possibilities based on their target which they will basically steal someone's money.

First, you are not the main target, just using you to spread the word such as scam ads with the lure of the referral system (this happens a lot through telegram bots). On this case, you're somewhat lucky. All you sacrifice is energy and time.

Or you as the main target. Scammers don't care how much money you have as long as they have a chance to steal it. For example, a lot of new scam exchanges appeared during the IEO hype a few years ago. I was offered many free trading balances by those scammers on the condition that I only had to pay a "withdrawal fee". Even though I was more stupid in the past, luckily I also didn't have any money.

Yes it's not bad — well, years ago when bitcoin was still in the hundreds(or lower) and when we could still send the faucet sats around multiple wallets. Obviously this really isn't viable for a while now; unless we're talking about faucets on Lightning.

There's no such thing as free money with cryptocurrencies and there's no free money in general. People always think that getting something easily like with airdrops and faucets means it's "free money"; but in fact you're exchanging your precious time for a few cents. If anything, it's a total waste of the most valuable currency known to man — time.

The best scam protection for cryptocurrency lovers or anyone is to always have a mindset that their is no free money or cryptocurrency that can be earned anywhere. To earn free money and cryptocurrency  has always  been a tradition to scam, especially online.  This  method  of scam strategy  gets increasing everyday.
There is nothing like  "earn free money or cryptocurrency anywhere". Money  can be earned  only by paying a price which could be.
* Dedicating time on something to earn money.
* Earning money through knowledge.
* investing on money or something  else to earn more money.( not ponzi scheme and other fake online  investments).

There are also airdrops, which look to be free but they are not.

You need to give your e-mail address, sometimes even send documents (KYC) , name  address...
You are basically selling your personal data for a few cents. Your documents may be used in malicious activities and you may face problems, even your reputation might be at risk.

No doubt that people trying to get free money are the main victims of scammers.

Many people mostly newbies to the crypto world see its a passive income because the different advertisement just makes an investment and let the market go with the flow and earn your profit, some of them just know ups and downs. Some of them get stuck with their investment because they invest without having prior knowledge and just push through the urge or hype of other people. After that few of them makes a re-investment again because they want to earn it back and some of it already quit because they are afraid already to make risk

Sometimes paying price to take risks could bring earning of money. Earnings requires work and time, money are not earn for free, even the government don't give cash for free.
