Well, it looks like you guys are going to be just fine....

I've had a couple of PM's asking me to stay on.. That's not going to happen.. For two reasons..

1) I'm too damned tired

2) I don't want to turn this into a Lavajumper versus LittleDigger struggle for "control" of the coin.. It's bigger than that..

I have turned over the logins that I have to sxcer, so that the hard work put into things like facebook and twitter don't get wasted.

I think that this is the catalyst for SXC to evolve to a truly community based project, and I'm really proud you guys are stepping up and making this coin your own.

I'm also surprised that some senior members of the bitcoin community are chipping in with their talent and experience to ease your way, perhaps I shouldn't be.

SXC has always been an underdog, but popular as a good idea, and every step it has taken its won honestly off it's own merit.

Don't forget SXC is quite old for a Altcoin, and this isn't the first time it's had a crisis and won through. For the newbies I'll post a "blast from the past" posted way back on the 13th of June, 2013 after the coin was pronounced dead..

keep at it guys, you are just about there.

There are a lot of efforts from the sxc community to keep sexcoin alive. I wouldn't worry.

cmon guys ..., save sexcoin  Smiley

I don't really think it needs to be saved , not seeing it in danger of dying.
Evolving and gaining momentum , that's a different question.

hello peeps
i mined sxc a while back and left it in the old qt client wallett,,,ive dl the new client (havent synced yet) and i want to get the coins from the old wallet into the new one,,which file do i need to replace in app data so the coins transfer over,,i cant get the old wallet to sync, any help would be much appreciated as i dont want to loose my sxc coins
thanks for reading

Please try this client build.

http://sxcexplorer.com/static/Sexcoin-qt-0.6.4.4-Win32.zip

It uses the old file locations and if you have not messed with things in your %APPDATA%\Sexcoin directory then it should pick up where you left off a few days ago... I hope!

eta: reading closer i see you may have been months since syncing, but it should still work for you

The github tree is current and includes Koguma's mac patches

The wallet.dat are all the same format, there's no need to update the wallet.  If you're using the windows, I would say wait a few days till a new client comes out with the wallet directory fixed.

You need to grab http://www.mediafire.com/download/gkk7qnwal52985c/sexcoin-Qt-v6.4.4.dmg

The previous version, the one you downloaded, is missing the QT libraries as it wasn't packaged for deployment.  My bad.

Your latest crisis is the hardfork.

I was told repeatedly by lavajumper that we were ready to go on Febuary 14th. My definition of ready to go is clients tested and compiled, so all that needs to be done is have the code on github updated and the website updated. Apparently his definition is ready to start compiling the code.

The first client he put up, so all windows users will hardfork. As an improvement he changed the directory structure so the wallet.dat was in a different place.

When this was spotted it was explained to him this was a bad thing. The client , not using the old directory structure would not read the old wallet.dat, or blockchain . It would create a new wallet.dat in the new directory and download the entire blockchain again into the new directory. To a new user it would look like their coins disappeared.

His reaction was to say he was quitting after the hardfork. He told me he would contact me at 10PM that night.

Sxcer had never compiled a client before but has been working on it. The idea was if we could provide him with an updated website and the clients, the present client he produced could be downloaded as a "USB client" as well, making it look like a plus, and easing people into the directory structure changes. All he would have to do is drop the files into the website.

10PM came and went with lava not contacting me. To give him the benefit of the doubt I waited an extra day, and that came and went too.

Because he has set changes at around block 575,000 the hardfork will occur in around twelve days. At that point the majority of the network should be on the new client. Pools use Linux not windows so as of now they have no client to upgrade to.

Lava is the only one with access to the website, so even if new clients are compiled there is no way they can be distributed.

As far as I am concerned this crisis is being manufactured by lava in a fit of childish pique.

It would not be difficult to rectify the situation.

I am tired of being told something only to have it be proven untrue, the lack of contact is the last straw. I feel my trust has been abused.

I have decided not only to not deal with lava, or sexcoin anymore, but to also sell all my mining hardware and give up any interest in any cryptocurrency altogether.

As far as I'm concerned it has become just a big scam, with developers ignoring a  coin after they have made a quick profit, and producing another coin that's just as big a rip off, lava didn't start that way but I think he's headed in that direction.

I think he can make his own excuses to you from here on in. I'm done.

I think Lava may be having some personal issues/medical problems.  He did release the code as promised, it's not like he left everyone hanging.   I would say give him a few days.  He can be volatile.

That said, the new client works fine, sxcer is working on updating the code, and I got the OSX side covered.  Coin is fine.

The released code works fine on Linux/OSX, just that the wallet issue doesn't exist.. ie. it's still in the old location.  I already have the new client on my seednode spum.co, and the OSX client is here:  http://www.mediafire.com/download/gkk7qnwal52985c/sexcoin-Qt-v6.4.4.dmg

Thanks for the warning LittleDigger, it's a good thing I check the announcement threads of the coins I'm interested in occasionally because a competent dev team is almost always one of the main reasons a coin succeeds or fails, I am a little irritated that it's turned out this way because I spent time mining quite a substantial number of coins, I only hope my panic sell won't be a mistake. I wouldn't have sold your mining gear but that's just me, there are plenty more interesting altcoins out there that have potential, don't let a few assholes ruin cryptocurrencies for you.
