What does the number of users connected to MtGox Live mean exactly? Is this number good or bad?

It indicates how many people are watching the market via one of many sites.... So, not much.

If you ask me, the whole dwolla/liberty reserve system is ridiculous in the first place. Why can't I go to my bank's website and just send the money to Mtgox, Tradehill,

That's how I do it. Direct to MtGox (well via Technocash) from ING Direct online Bank account. Funds arrive within 24 hours.  Grin

Oh, so that option DOES exist for Americans as well? I thought it was just for Canadians through Virtex and Europeans through Sepa transfers... good to know.

i think less Dwolla pricier BTC because it will be more expensive using other means for exchange

compare rates of loading Dwolla and moving to exchange for instance with loading exchange through Liberty Reserve, wire, etc., those transfer and exchange fees would reflect price of BTC

Yup, that's why I said initially... give it a few days and people will find a way around it. If you ask me, the whole dwolla/liberty reserve system is ridiculous in the first place. Why can't I go to my bank's website and just send the money to Mtgox, Tradehill, CampBX, the same way I do with Virtex, is just beyond me.

I never thought about this, but the bitcoin price is probably largely based on Dwolla.

less dwolla -> higher BTC price ?

Nope. Less dwolla -> less money available to buy BTC -> more people willing to sell BTC for less -> lower BTC price... at least initially. Same way that no euros in MtGox means lower prices across the board.

Put another way: less dwolla -> higher dwolla price.

Did you see this?

http://www.bitcoinmoney.com/post/8067352221/dwolla-allows-chargebacks

If this is true and MtGox stops accepting or suspends dwolla deposits we'll have the perfect storm of no cash coming in, nervous people and miners continuing to sell at a steady clip.  Still seeing $40 short term in that situation?

Just that rumor was enough for me to sell half my mined BTC immediately (all of 3.38 of them  Tongue)

Is this really going to be a problem? It seems obvious that Dwolla will end up eating this and not let it happen in the future. Otherwise Dwolla is pretty much done altogether. If Dwolla is done that will suck for a while.
