Here are the results:

"Bot 80015371 (unknown name)" - (threat level: YELLOW) - used on auction sites ... ::
Bot scan successful...

So, sturle, that may be the way the site works, but he still has some slightly dangerous bots on there (They are yellow, out of the "blue, green, yellow, orange, red, black" scale.) So, whether they are bots that invade your privacy, up the auction prices, or something else, there are still some slightly unsafe bots on the site.   Undecided

And what heuristic algorithm did you use to determine this? What program? I will give you 72 hours to respond a PM has been sent. I will not personally tolerate any type of defamation especially libel.

Still I want to set up a proxy right now for the American Dream Film. Tongue

Just go to bid on the item and enter the highest amount that you are willing to pay. The website will take care of the rest.

Ok, sorry, thi is the first bidding site I use. How can I set up the proxy?

Had been searching in your forums and help docs. :/

I understand my FAQ section is non-existent. I have an update coming to the site soon that will give me some time to work on documentation.

OMG bots are not allowed. If he was a person it would be ok. D:<
That Bidder 1 had outbid me each time I make a bid and he makes it in less than a second.

I am bidding in the Cricket UM100C Mobile Broadband Tri-Brand USB Modem and won't do it again until this issue is resolved. Also, I bid in the American Dream Film and there are no bots. Could you explain?

There are no other bidders on the American Dream Film. Therefore there is no other proxy bid to outbid you.

I also placed a first bid on the modem and "Bidder 1" outbid me with the minimum increment. I bid a second time and he did it again. I checked the logs and it was in the exact second I made a bid.
"Bidder 1" has placed a bid higher than yours, but only the minimum bid needed to win the auction is shown.  As long as your bid is smaller than Bidder 1's bid, he will win, but not pay more than necessary to win the auction.  When you bid above Bidder 1's maximum bid, your bid will stand one minimum increment above Bidder 1's maximum bid, and when someone bids above your visible bid, it will be incremented in the same way as Bidder 1's bid is now.  Bidder 1's real name is not Bidder 1, btw.
for reference, it's exactly like ebay's proxy bit system, that you can read about in detail on ebay's website somewhere. Smiley

EDIT: gah, beaten by biddingpond's reply. Tongue

I have a question for YOU, Biddingpond.com:  On your "100BTC Listing Credit" I feel like you have a bot set up to make the bid go higher, so you'll get more Bitcoins. I feel this is true because there is no possible way another bidder could outbid me the exact second I placed my bid...   about 5 times in a row. I mean, maybe once, but about 5 times or MORE in a row?!!  That's just plain ludicrous!! Please be honest with me, because if you say no, even if you are telling the truth, I'll run a botchecker on the site and post the results here. Sorry to sound threatening, but it's really deceptive to do something like that, especially for the owner of the site. If you are in fact using a bot, I will make sure to give a second thought before placing an auction on your site again. Again, I'm not trying to be aggressive, threaten you, or anything similar, it's just I don't enjoy businesses that deceive and scam others...   Undecided

It concerns me that you chose an public forum to discuss this topic without contacting me first with your concerns. This to me makes it look like scare tactics/fear mongering/troll activity.

But in order to protect my name from UNFOUNDED accusations I provide the following:

Biddingpond.com like all modern auction sites that I know of allow for a user to place a proxy bid. A user will place a maximum amount that they are willing to pay. When another bidder bids an amount LESS than the other persons bid they will naturally be outbid. The way you can avoid being outbid so fast is to place the MAXIMUM amount that you are willing to bid and the site will place a bid up to the largest amount needed. But, like a said earlier if that amount is less than the other users Maximum bid you will be outbid.

The way my site works is EXACTLY the same way that e-bay and other large auction sites work regarding the handling of proxy bids.

If you wish to run a bot checker go ahead! I run an honest business! But you should also be willing to post the heuristic algorithm used to determine bot use so it can be publicly determined if that will be sufficient.

I would also like to note there have been other auctions for listing credits that have sold for far less than the price of an average listing with extra features. Not to mention items I have placed on the site that have sold below market value in order to spur listing activity. I have posted some of these links below:

GPS Blocker (110V-220V) with car charger - FREE SHIPPING
http://www.biddingpond.com/item.php?id=89

I unfortunately can not name who won these auctions as it would be a violation of their privacy. But if they are willing to come forward they can state the auction that they won.

If you have NEVER used any type of online auction site I apologize for your confusion regarding proxy bidding. If you have used a modern large bidding site you most definitely are aware of proxy bidding and are a troll.

What do you use for the scanning? Also, I think biddingpond doesn't have to do with this because other items I had bid didn't suffer from this bots.

Maybe you can provide links or a description of what you're selling?  Your forum post here is quite vague.

Just go to biddingpond.com and look for auctions sold by TheColdOne. I have many different products up and many more to come. Alot of the items will be electronics.

Thanks for using my site!

If I can win the HDMI cable would you hold it for me for 3-4 weeks? I would pay immediately of course.

Sure, that would be no problem.

Thanks to the people who have placed bids but .01 bitcoins per auction isn't quite enough for me to switch all my business to biddingpond. I will keep posting auctions for a week or two so people can see that I sell a lot of things. But if I still don't get any decent bids its back to ebay.

I have put a few auctions up on biddingpond. I make a secondary income selling things on Ebay and Amazon. As long as I get at least 75% of what I get on ebay or amazon for items I pledge to post all my items on biddingpond in order to help bitcoin succeed. My username on biddingpond is the same that it is here so check out my auctions.
