None I believe. Is it true that you can't mine eth with less than 4gb anymore?
A friend of mine cried to me a few weeks ago that his 2 and 3gb rigs are useless now.

2 or 3Gb cards are not useless
I was talking about mining eth in the first place. Ofc they are not useless and can still mine other coins.

I got 3 rigs with 1060 3GB cards in them (8 + 8 +7).  They have been turned down for 6+ months now.  Should have sold them back then but the thought of putting 23 GPUs back in their original boxes and shipping them one by one seems like a lot of headache.  I started the rigs back up the other day just to see what they would do.  The 8 GPU ones did about $2.60 per day and after power, about $1.35.  The 7 GPU rig was at $1.23 net per day.  So I shut them back down.  This was on RVN.

16 of them are EVGA and 7 are Zotac.  If anyone is interested, I'll let them go for cheap, like WELL under 100 bucks a pop.

Hi,

over one year ago I had to switch my Nvidia 1060 3GB GPUs from Ethereum to Ravencoin. Was a good decision I think and mined a lot.
Since 2 months now RVN difficulty exploded. (Does anyone know the reason?)

So I think I should switch to another coin again now.
Which one would you suggest for my old GPUs?
For your old GPUs I suggest you to sell them and buy new ones, forget ethereum too because this isn't the only one coin which you have to stick especially when you own nvidia cards because you can mine different coins with better profitability than ethereum.
On another hand, if possible, mine on nicehash and hold bitcoins for a while. Can't suggest anything else.

If I were in the place of the author of the topic, I would have sold 1060 cards while they were worth something.
Very soon it will be 100% rubbish.

If you dont want to invest money in upgrading equipment, then it is better to do nothing and continue to mine RVN

A friend of mine cried to me a few weeks ago that his 2 and 3gb rigs are useless now.

It's impossible to mine ETH with less than 4Gb, 2 or 3Gb cards are not useless, you can still mine another coins with Ethash, like ETC, UBIQ, PIRL etc
If you friend have AMD, it's interesting to mining XMR

You can still mine with cards which have 4gb because the dag file for ethereum last time I checked was over 3gb but once it gets to 4gb those cards wont be able to mine it either.

Yes. For instance the 290x cards from AMD should be good to go for some time still. Although this won't last forever as sooner or later that 4GB of vram will be too little.

Hello! I am sure that was great decision to switch to other coin. In the end the profit that you
got is the best indicator. regarding other coins, my first intention was to offer you ETH because it sounds like you can mine it with the card you've mentioned,
then i decided that you could do with XMR as well, just to understand if it's ok for you. anyway, hope it'll work out whatever you pick up.

-snip-
Since 2 months now RVN difficulty exploded. (Does anyone know the reason?)
Obviously, aside from it just started last year, miners realized that it's more profitable than Ethereum because of "whattomine" or other sites and collectively switched to RVN.

It's as simple as this: More miners = higher difficulty.

Just to add, that also means lower income for miners since they will be splitting the reward for each blocks, right? That is something I just observed.

Yes, after the changes, the broadcast is no longer possible to mine on this card.
It simply does not make any economic to mine ETH now sense is it better to choose another project like RVN.

How if you try this, you can continue to mining ethereum but auto-convert the coin to ravencoin so you can get more rewards than you mining ravencoin directly.
Or you can buy more GPU to install on your computer, and you can get more hash power to mining Grin
Besides whattomine, you can try to visit on this website

He can't mine ETH with his card, it's a 1060 3GB so he switched to another coin to continue mining

I mean, he could still mine ETH with his 1060 3GB because according to whattomine and the site I give, he can mining ETH.
So if he is mining ETH, he can convert the rewards into RVN or other profitable coins he wants and he can use miningpoolhub for the pool because I see that ETH and RVN were available on that site and I think he can get much RVN from mining ETH.

He can't mine ETH with his card, I'm sorry but you´re wrong in this case, unless some dev found a way to, it's impossible to mine ETH with less than 3Gb Vram
Whattomine is a good site to only estimate your earnings and help you to start

I dont think whattomine differentiates between 3gb and 6gb 1060s.

I actually put my 1060s on Monero this morning...not because it's the most profitable, but because I just want to mine a few more of them

The dag file for ethereum has gone over the 3gb space so it is physically impossible for him to mine ethereum on these cards. Even if whattomine say it this is incorrect.
Only 1060 cards with 6gb can still mine ethereum until the dag file reaches that size then only 8gb cards will only be able to mine that algorithm.
But the problem when we are choosing the coin with low DAG file is that mineable coin with low dag file like music coin doesn't have a lot of daily trades volumes. That means a difficult way to liquidate our money. The problem is the DAG file increasing a lot anytime. I was feeling worried if my 6GB can't be used again to my major coins with high liquidity.

OP should try banano coin.

I have one 3gb 1060 rig left.  I just leave it auto-switching between Nicehash, MPH and ZPool.
