And no, I never watched your video.

You did however caught me with that seriously misleading title, sneaky!

Anyhow, I guess that's also a way to draw people in right? It worked!

And now you've got even more attention to your post. So don't be mad mate, be happy...

Easy there buddy...

To be honest it can just get frustrating when I'm trying to make the case for something we both believe in, just to get crapped on by some members of both sides lol

It's a supply problem, not a demand problem. There is some increase in demand by gamers due to
the pandemic but the bigger issue is the supply shortage and it's affecting more than GPUs.

In effect GPUs are being scalped and the scaplers are making a killing.

Blaming miners is just another fake news conspiracy theory. There's been too much of that the last few years,
let's get over it.

This actually is somewhat true. I think before the pandemic the most you could get for an RX 470/570 was about $75 or so. Right now however the cheapest is usually $90 and average price is around $120. Which I think in my opinion is a little too much for a 4GB mid tiered GPU which came out about 4 years ago. Its pretty much on par with the R9 290 which came out like 7 years ago. However whenever I list an RX 470 4GB on Craigslist now, it would take maybe 2 weeks to sell and right now it probably sells in 2 days. For a slightly higher price than what I could of got back in pre-covid19 days.

If you look at eBay you will see similar trends. There are many that sell for a large price. Sure there are some which are low but they usually got some issue with fans or they are some "VisionTek" brand that nobody wants. However seems that demand is outpacing supply at the moment because people are at home and want to game, especially since its winter now.

nVidia choose to use Samsung's 8mm node and obviously the yields are not good or the large die itself is very demanding and they just can't get enough of these cards manufactured. The nVidia shareholder statement shows about 6% of their sales went to crypto dedicated channels. There's probably more cards in the hands of narcissistic Youtube "influencers" than went to mining.

Stupid behavior on AMD's part saying there would be plenty of supply for the new RX line also didn't help.

Both launches look like absolute failures on the part of their logistics and deployment teams. The engineers can only do so much.

Yeah and if big miners were really sourcing huge amounts of cards hashrate would go way up.

we had a nice rise in mining profits for eth mining ⛏.

So after a five month runup of mining profits we finally got back to the alltime hash rates.

Which means the new cards are not going to anyone. If we had 15% more hash rate then 300th profits would still be solid.

so 45th is 10 x 90 mh = 900mh x 5 = 4.5gh x 1000 = 4.5 th x 10 = 45 th.

or 10 x 5 x 1000 x 10 = 500,000   nvidia 3080s could easily add onto the hashrate.

They are not

if hashrate was 345Th vs 300th profits would still be good.

So the miner  demand could easily be 500,000.  3080 gpus

or a mix of 500,000 -750,000

nvidia
3070
3080

amd
5600
5700

cards could easily sell if amd and nvidia had them to sell.

As a miner I love waiting for the new gear ⚙️.
reason 1 I am making money and the market is bull at this date.

Btw I have decided now it the time to sell all my

my
nvidia
1080tis
1660tis
1660s

even if I can’t get replacement
3080s

I can get
amd 5700s
amd 5600s

I don't agree at all from the viewpoint of small mining ie under 100 cards.  none of us can get them.

I have worked hard for months to get them and only have 3 so far. I also paid a premium for each evga that I got.

Now connected miners maybe able to get them. Or the amd 5700xt

I had an opportunity to get a 3080 where I live for $885 and I decided not to because I still think $885 for it is overpriced and if I had bought then the shop would see I bought and increase the price even further, after few hours somebody else bought it, this is the free market, however the mentality of "If I don't buy it others might and then I might have to wait months to buy it again" makes people to buy overpriced products. I'm okay with my gtx 1070 8gb at moment, the card would be only for 4k gaming, for now I'm happy to play games on 4k and lower settings.

Are Nvidia graphics cards really out of stock AGAIN because GPU miners keep buying up all of the RTX 30 series cards for their crypto mining rigs to mine Ethereum and other crypto coins?!

Okay seriously is it really crypto miners fault for a GLOBAL GRAPHICS CARD SHORTAGE?! I mean, is that really even a thing, can there be a shortage when there are literally thousands of new and used GPUs for sale on eBay, Amazon, and other common sites and stores? The problem is that some wealthy GPU mining farm operators bought millions of dollars worth of brand new Nvidia RTX 30 series GPUs. Yeah, the problem is that someone else bought what someone else.. wanted to buy.. GPU mining is where you turn a high-end graphics card into basically a money-printing machine, that's because many cryptocurrencies like one of the best crypto coins ever, is still mined with some graphics cards, GPU mining for Ethereum drives interest in buying graphics cards to build GPU mining rigs. The new Nvidia RTX 30 series of graphics cards, the RTX 3090, 3080, and 3070 are some of the BEST GPUs for MINING EVER so uh yeah, crypto miners will continue to buy them to mine Etherem and other profitable cryptocurrencies. This is a free market at work, and if anyone is to blame it is Nvidia for not imposing some sort of order limit -- do not cry and whine that someone bought something instead of you, what a world we live in these days lol.

This time is clearly not it. Until we are seeing $5/day/GPU days, there will be no shortages of GPUs.

Yeah, to be quite like 2017, you have to see people buying rx 570 for $500 or more, in 2017 I saw rx 570 sold for $800 and up. Also everything is crazy at moment, lot more money than product and that is the problem, where I live Playstation 5 are sold for $1500 usd at moment and they are not used for mining. PS5 msrp price is $500, why ask 3 times more the msrp? Because people are paying that, people need to stop paying such prices, problem is people, this is a free market, if price of a product is more than supposed to be then chill out, wait the price to crash to reasonable again. You overpaying for a product will only make things worse.

agree w/ both of you, which is why it's even more annoying they weaponize gamers against not only "crypto mining" but a general negative spin on cryptocurrency as a whole.

Not saying it can't lead to shortages due to miners but this time it is fake news.

This is largely why I created this video, because there are numerous videos and articles slamming crypto miners

I tend to not reply to these kinds of posts but please stop posting random nonsense backed by 0 facts "merely rumors".

Or just be honest about the fact that you're just posting multiple posts "regularly" purely to draw people to your Website/Youtube/...

It's not like 2017 when most of the shortage was indeed due to miners.

Have you thought about the following:

- Nvidia releasing new products
- AMD releasing new products
- Intel releasing new products
- Sony released the new PS5
- Microsoft released the new Xbox
- Millions of laptops being sold due to Covid (remote work)
- Compute demand sky high
- ...
I can go on and on and on

Get your facts together before posting.

Been mining for many boom and busts with BTC and altcoins and I can tell you one thing. The best time that you know there is going to be a GPU shortage is when someone puts a GPU for sale on Craiglist and it gets sold out within the hour or 2.

Back in late 2013 and 2017, if you wanted to buy GPUs second hand you had to pretty much "speed" to the sellers place to buy it before he checked his inbox and raised his price OR decided to start mining on his own.

Generally it got very stressful loading up on GPUs. Later what happened was that inventory in stores dries up and later on when inventory is replenish the prices are raised by some crazy amount. And most Craiglist ad at the time also have some crazy inflated price like $500 for a RX 470 GPU.

This time is clearly not it. Until we are seeing $5/day/GPU days, there will be no shortages of GPUs.
