1000 nxt good to start with?
All depends on what you got.
I think 1000 NXT is very little, even though I can imagine a not too distant future where NXT is worth .50 and even 1 dollar I think you'll regret only investing chump change.

Nxt will never be worth that much. if NXT reaches $10, i'll be a very wealthy and happy man.

This is all speculation, but sometimes speculation is fun.
Extreme case
A really really amazing scenario for NXT - Something fatal happens with bitcoin security, in turn making 95% of alt-currencies useless, in that certain case Nxt will rise to a handsome $50-100 USD per NXT overnight. A $500 usd will only be obtained if NXT achieved if it has obtained complete dominance in the digital currency space, worldwide, within the next 10 years or less.
500 Billion dollars is a ridiculous amount of cash.
More reasonable
A $10 Next could happen by the end of this year. But it really really depends on how good and efficient the development and marketing team are.
A more probable occurrence for NXT would be $1 dollar by the end of 2014. That would make it a 1,000,000,000 Dollar market cap, 2X as much as litecoin is right now.
NXT could totally do it, There is so much development that can happen. Nxt is hot right now, but it could be done right bloody sexy with all new features added and an amazing client. It could be a gorgeous, sophisticated and yet simple for everyday people at the same time.
Anyways, There is an army supporting NXT right now. It's probably my favorite out of all Crypto currencies.
