how compact a full featured client (inluding distributed application/smart contract features) can be?

i tell you: 665kb / 406 kb zipped, yeah!. even if i would add a complete chart engine for AE, the size wouldn't pass 950kb for the executable.
(compared to other alt coins clients which are between 20-50 times larger by less functionality)
the client is sdi based, means only the center hup starts folded, subcategories unfold on demand. all others windows can be arranged as desired. this saves screen space.
atm i am re-composing the gui to adding a native screenshot function to the client, means every important form (like send/balance etc.) has an screen button, dumping
the whole dialog content into a clean rendered png image. here is a send funds png created by this function.

http://www.nxtexplorer.com/download/send-screen.png

here is a 1:1 screenshot with offense coloring from the complete app-hub (including a small gui bug) ;-)

http://www.nxtexplorer.com/download/nxt-hub-screen.png

the user can change the colors later via textfile. atm i am using the dark color scheme, just prefer high contrast and good viewable fonts
when acting with funds. some screens can folded or doing this on demand. the client is not ready yet but i am working hard to finish the dev asap.
the distributed application/smart contract logic took me 5 days which was planed for AE but i am simply eager to show the first real running protoype
by nxt while others concepting. with release, a fully functional quoteboard DNA prototype will be included.
during test, the remotly executed and sandboxed DNA sourcecode will be hosted on blockexplorer node but could be located everywhere. AM is used
for payment and access signaling. not every workflow is solved for DNA, this needs a little more brainstorming but i am confident nxt will run the first one.

OK Ill pay, but I dont think you beat me.  Not with FOUR consecutive leading 6's there.

for the record, I also have 180261721 but elected to not use it for the contest as I believe 6666386410 is superior to it as well

give me a bit to figure out my BTER account

I have 920318146, haven't "verified" it yet though. I won't forget to brag when I'll find something more cool.

Hehe you sent some NXT to your account right after me gimre Smiley http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi?action=33

Please point me where you found "Exposing the private key" phrase, I can't see it.

his claim is that since the public key is a curve25519 hash of the private key that it is exposed.   Roll Eyes

Yes exactly.  You guess the private key "since it was created by a human", then you crack the account.   That is why there are so many Nxt accounts that get cracked.  You don't even need to do the cracking against the network,  you just do it against the public block chain.

If the developers don't think this is fundamentally broken,  then I really question their judgement.

There are 100000NXT on account id 100000; it doesn't even have public key in the blockchain (2^64 security instead of 2^256).

Who is the owner of the blockexplorer?

The "statistics" page shows a chart of the daily fees. I would like to see this data, but there was a day with 500.000 NXT fee that just fucks up the whole data. Would it be possible to make a log chart?

silly me, thanks!

My theory is, that even though the number of transactions will be higher in the future, the absolute amount of NXT spent as fees will decline steadily with the rising price of NXT.

Seen in NRS peers:

MK802IIIS is a ~$50 USD Android TV stick that can also run Linux.

So we've got Raspberry Pis and Cubies running NRS, and now perhaps a low-cost mini PC stick.

Neat.

the fact that its THERE though.  at the very front. accomplishes the same function

No, it doesn't. It will ruin vanity generators ("NJOHN-1234" instead of "NXT-JOHN-1234") and it will look like part of a random string in all other cases:
NFKJ4-FSE5-56SF-FSJR6V
N9G7J-G2JK-L6O9-7DR7VK

I dont particularly care for the N prefix AT ALL.  but if we absolutely MUST then please just make it part of the address, with no dash.  it removes the balance of the address.

We don't have to. The prefix is optional, thus it can be "NXT-". If you prefer short addresses you just don't add it at all. Probably will be an option in clients.

To avoid the situation were people choose weak password, there is a simple solution.
Do not let them choose. The client should generate an account itself.

It would be like the bitcoin private keys. Hidden from the user, unless he's looking for it.

But to do that,  then you need a wallet.   That's because the user will not be able to memorize the key.

Nxt doesn't have a wallet.

Somebody earlier in this thread suggested to make composite passwords
with separator character or withoud it anyway.

1st part is user pass that he chooses  and
2nd part is randomly generated by the client software.

NXT pasword = 1st_part+2nd_part

2nd part is encrypted and stored locally on the machine in "wallet.dat"
or how you would like to call it but 1st part is never stored.

To unlock the account user needs to enter 1st part in the client software
then the client will retrieve the 2nd part and concatenate them together.

NXT password will be 1str_part+2nd_part.

If wallet.dat is stollen it wont be possible
to use the password as then would be encrypted and also
the 1st parts will be missing.
