Hey,

First time posting in this forum Wink

First of all great thanks to all the contributors of this great project! I've been following the threads in this forum and the one at nextcoin.org for a couple of weeks now... impressive comunity Smiley

Do we have any news of the Miami conference attendees?

And what about nexern's client, is the ETA still jan 27?

Best,
google

ETA for testing was 26th nothing was said about release date.

Someone will probably hit me over the head for not paying attention; apologies in advance.

Is Nexern's client supporting asset exchange and/or alias trading?

If I have $10 and Bill Gates has 50 billion, does this mean he's 5 billion times smarter than me?
Yes  Smiley
Of course not
I think cryptocoins should serve better to people and if someone is hoarding the money its sad.
If Bill Gates loose 99% of his wealth he even dont recognize it and still can live comfortable life. But if someone poor in China or elsewhere gets just a fraction of bitcoin or NXT it could change their lives.
Should not we try to invent better distribution of coins? and not just saying that distribution of NXT is 10x better than BTC and thus we are proud of it?

People should bear in mind that it is forbidden to take anything with them to grave. What they would do with all that money after they die??? I cannot understand them.

I am looking into my options of making my NXT Solaris client open-source and multi-platform. Since there are trade-offs, I would like to get an idea which operation systems you are most interested in, so I set up a vote: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/nxt-solaris-client-supported-operation-systems-430593

Thanks for voting!

The results are what I had expected.

I've made a 1400 US$ investment and upgraded my development environment to Delphi XE5 and the compatible version of the commercial Developer Express components.

The roadmap for NXT Solaris now looks like this:

1.) Move current version of my code to XE5 and release closed source 32-bit and 64-bit versions for Windows (only trivial changes).
2.) Refactor my code to a MVC architecture, so that I can create separate GUIs while using the same version of the business logic code.
3.) Create new GUIs for Windows and OS X using the same business logic, but based on the cross-platform Firemonkey libraries (technically possible targets are Windows, Android, OSX, iOS). The GUIs will not be as sexy and powerful as the closed-source Windows version, though (no Ribbon interface, no filtering, sorting, grouping in data grids, not so many icons etc..), but will still very much resemble what is in the closed-source client.
4.) Release open-source Windows version (32 and 64 bit) based on FireMonkey.
5.) Release open-source OSX version based on FireMonkey.

=> At this point you could decide if you want to use the open-source Windows and OSX version or the closed-source, slightly more sexy and powerfull Windows version.

I will reevaluate if I do versions for Android and iOS at a later point, however I will keep this option in my mind when refactoring the code in step 2. The poll shows that 25% of all voters would use it, but it also depends on which alternatives are available at that point. I would also need to invest another 500 US$ to go mobile and I don't want to do this now.

I will not target Linux, since I technically can't. Someone else might want to jump on this.

I don't know the timeline for the roadmap, so don't ask. ;-) I'll take a week of from my day job next month to get a bit of this done.

Can I just say that you are amazing.
You got some pretty harsh criticism after a lot of hard work and instead of saying "f*ck you all, I'm off", you decide to look at the criticism and invest in a solution.

That is cool on so many levels!

Big respect and a thank you from me.

I like the idea of sending peconfigered promo-raspberrys to people Smiley
Its way better than just throwing money at somebody yelling "RESPECT ME!!!1"

If somone sent me or anyone I know a Raspberry Pi I would think why someone had sent me their friken science experiment....

An email link for a preconfigured wallet along with a simple explanation and the current and future vision for NXT. Words and ideas are powerful... Even a working wallet isn't nessecary, screen shots and vision statements is all anyone needs.

Someone should make a talking to camera youtube clip that explains NXT....though the graphic ones i've seen are not bad.

We would like to give you (some) NXT so you can participate in the NXT big thing in cryptocurrency.  It's our hope in by giving you these NXT that you help us spread the word about NXT so others can also participate in this revolution.

Please don't. This smells like bribery.

We would like to give you a token 1000 NXT so you can participate in the Nxt big thing in cryptocurrency. It's our hope that once you have researched our community and technology, you will join the movement and help us spread the word about Nxt.

Much better. Make it even less, so just for him to play with.

I'm not so sure giving him Nxt would be a good idea. Bill Still took a lot of heat for possibly receiving donations before he promoted Quark. I'd rather not risk the accusation of the Nxt community "bribing" him to promote Nxt. Just give him good information with no strings attached, and he'll appreciate the gesture.

We should mention that we are really beta but we care about newcomers. So if he need assistance for buying some NXT, he could go to Anon or another trustworthy user for escrow or to these exchanges *listofexchanges*. If Anon contacts him, he shouldn't suggest himself for escrow maybe Cheesy

Or send him preconfigured solar powered cubie
I think he likes gizmos
He is pretty smart technically, as long as he is told we are in beta he will not expect everything to be perfect
He understands tech development
My guess is he thinks mining is a big waste of resources

Send cool solar powered nxt computer. That will have a lot more impacf than nxt acct, of course send him small amount so he doesnt have to buy it on xchg. But he needs to make acct first

James

This is a perfect idea. Send him more than just a mail. A gadget which emphasizes on the waste of resources with Bitcoins and our solution to this problem. Could also be without solar, maybe this would be better because it is 'simpler' to run. Maybe he will photograph it himself and post it one day.

ill do it if no one else wants to

That would be great. Let us discuss some more ideas and options and afterward you can contact him.

This guy obviously isn't impressed with NXT.

In Depth Analysis of NXT  -  http://cryptolife.net/in-depth-analysis-nxt/

Regarding NXT addressing. "If you were to generate an offline address and send coins to that address, you do not have explicit ownership of that address. Someone could come along with a passphrase that has a collision with yours, announce his public key to the network, and then have explicit ownership over your coins. This means that to claim ownership over an address, you are forced to expose your public key to the network. As mentioned before, doing this decreases the overall security of that address. You just can’t win. NXT is inherently less secure that Bitcoin. It is a total step backwards in that department. Also worth mentioning is that Bitcoin addresses have a 4 byte checksum that prevents you from sending to an invalid or incorrect address. NXT addresses do not."

Does anyone have an answer for this?

Will be solved in clients.

NXT is the future
Nxt doesn't even have mature client software (correct me if I am wrong). Don't present a half finished product to a big guy like Mark.

I agree. We should wait for a well-tested full-featured client before contacting him.

+1 other wise that NXT you give him will go straight to some exchange account

I've been following Nxt for a little while, although it's hard to keep up with this thread!  This is my first post.

I've seen several questions and efforts at characterizing aspects of the blockchain.  I've been doing some exploratory analysis and have several plots to share.  I've posted what I've done so far here:

http://brosephus.github.io/nxt-explore/

I've learned a lot and hope this might be useful for others.  I'm happy to look into anything that might be of interest to anyone.

Dude, post of the day -- great stuff. I wish I was smart enough to understand half of that, but I gleaned some important data there.

It is encouraging that over time, upper end of the distribution belongs to a smaller and smaller proportion.

Lots of interesting stuff!

You mention "Account IDs With a Small Number of Digits" and "How can accounts have such small ID numbers?". I think you should make the distinction between those that have an assigned public key, and those that don't. Anyone can send 1NXT to any account number, and that account will then exist in the blockchain, but probably nobody has access to it (yet). It would be interesting seeing similar analysis on the so-called darkNXT.
