This is how the cryptomarket usually works. If BTC is rising rapidly, people move their money into BTC instead of other coins, causing these coins to stagnate or drop. When BTC stagnates, then alt-coins have a chance to shine. There may be a few exceptions here and there, but this is 90% of the cases I've seen.
I agree with c-f-b, cheap coins (at this stage) and panicking large stakeholders may be better in the long run. People who have followed this thread know the potential that will come in the future for NXT, so personally, I'm not worried. NXT is getting more stable by the day, and if we get a second major exchange soon then NXT should have a larger audience.

Currently there is no direct market for NXT/BTC. You would have to sell BTC for XRP and then use XRP to purchase NXT. If you need, I can buy your BTC or LTC at market price, just let me know how much so I can be sure I can handle it now. Basically, once you deposit BTC or LTC using the simpleGateway, it goes into your ripple wallet. To convert it to XRP you need to make sure you have a buyer for it. The orderbook on ripple is pretty thin, so prearranging is best. We agree on price, you make a sell offer at that price for BTC.peercover or LTC.peercover and I put in a matching buy offer.
You get the XRP and I get your BTC or LTC.
Once you have XRP you can purchase NXT/XRP.

Well, there are other priorities in coding, I am sure. It's just if it's not too much work to add this API, users have to have fun with something for the next 4 weeks, ya know 
If we release new features too fast:
1. Client developers won't be able to go on par with the core features
2. NXT price won't become affordable for ordinary people
These 2 points r vital for success of Nxt.
You're probably right, however, 'ordinary' people tend to buy (more) when the price grows, because psychologically it's easier, so I am not so sure about #2. Anyway, it's not like I was going to sell or buy any aliases in the near future

But wouldn;t Alias transfer tie in with Alias system which is already released...we/the market needs something fun during the Nxt 4 weeks....
EDIT: Actually it would allow others to transfer alias from those corrupted/hacked accounts...anyhow....I few weeks is not very long.

@ CfB.....would it be advantageous to use Ripple as an actually IOU gateway to the Nxt Asset Exchange?
If we interface NXT with USD (which is a centralized currency) why shouldn't we do the same with XRP (which is less centralized)?

CBF must more families with XRP than all of us，
and i believe， CBF know how to use XRP much more than this growing NXT.
