Checksum on transactions seems to be absolute neccesity
You can't let things like that happen. Bug, crash and corruption happen and will always happen, so you need to be protected against it.
There is millions of dollars transfered on the blockchain every week.
There was a 10 millions NXT transfer yesterday. Imagine if it happened there?

Based on the new branding, I could make business cards for myself for now.
An up to date infographic would be great, though. The only one that would be useful from these (for my target audience) would be a seriously non-technical NXT/BTC one and a Nxt/Fiat one.
The people who I will meet will be interested in new ways of payment and how safe it will be, not in any technical stuff. Basically : "How does/can this benefit ME from a seller/buyer standpoint?".
I'm realistisic and know that I won't "sell" Nxt to these people outright in Feb, but I plan to ride the "fear" of BTC and the volatility issue that sales people will be scared about and point to the eco side from the other direction. Seeing as I'm going to meet international companies. The decentralised exchange will interest them, too. Cutting out the middle man is always interesting.
You are right, it looks like right now - we need scientific papers and good articles with absolutely new ideas how cool Nxt is and could be. For now we are mostly only repeating some texts used for Bitcointalk crypto maniacs, but not for public. Then we can create useful infographics, videos, etc

I don´t think we have to sell anything. Just make the world aware of Nxt. If something is good, it will sell itself. If not, it´s not worth pushing it.
I just saw the warning and updated to .4.8, my balance is showing as zero but im behind on the blocks. I am super worried, my face is flush and I am scared! How can I catch up or see if anything happened? This would be really devastating to me if I got exploited with the fake client 
Easiest way might be to check the hash per the instructions on page 1 of this forum, with the .zip file you downloaded and used.
There is a chance you installed the bad client and still retain your balance, some people have reported having the bad client and still
being able to transfer out into a new good client.

this... easiest way to see if anything has been "transferred out" without your approval.
And then follow the instructions of the first page, open that hash checked new client, transfer what you hopefully still retain

If the address got corrupted on its way from GUI to server, then to network, checksum will prevent other nodes from accepting it.
Not from the GUI to server, but during the interpretation in a corrupted Java process. The Java process simply can do any crazy thing when crashing. It's why many of You get their blockchain corrupted time to time - exactly for the same reason - Java process got corrupted during blockchain update. But in our case Java process got corrupted (for any reason) during transaction.

Checksums will not help with this type of bug. Very likely the account to which the transaction was wrongly sent will also have passed the checksum.
If the address got corrupted on its way from GUI to server, then to network, checksum will prevent other nodes from accepting it.
Checksums are precisely the mechanism invented for unreliable transport.
It's unlikely that the address would have corrupted in such a way as to match the checksum, and this probability goes down exponentially with every added bit of checksum.
I don´t know if the account you´ve sent it from is your main account, if yes, please stop sending donations as I don´t think it´s fair to accept donations from someone only having 2000 Nxt in his wallet. You are great and you really make this community a better place! Thank you!

I just heard I am going to represent my company on the Ambiente fair in the Frankfurter Messe in February. My main work will of course be for my own company, but in the five days I am there I will meet loads of business people (wholesalers and big retailers) from all over the world. I am certainly willing, if it doesn't conflict with my business, to introduce these people to Nxt.
I would need some nice marketing tools though, to at least get them hooked/interested.
We're in te beginning of development, so it's natural that we can't give them totally finished tools to show, but anything helps at this moment to at least BE there.

Due to crash of java process, the number entered and transferred to the daemon by Javascript UI was corrupted (or mixed during interpretation) inside the very first stage of transfer process itself.
Even if Java process crashes due to not enough memory error, JVM continues to work properly.
