Could anyone send me some NXT coins? I heard that people must be generous with this specific coin. I have 0,00 in my account, no idea if it even works...

I see 2 branches. Check ur recent block. If it's less than 22264 then use https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/67242472/nxtfiles.zip and catch recent blocks!

as early adopters we should take care that no child abusers will use our alias system for their purposes... lets think about how to prevent that as much as possible... for example I've just registered some aliases so that they wont get I to bad hands...

PS: question to core devs : is it possible to block some keywords (or a variation of keywords combined, to prevent alias registrations like: child;children;kids etc wont be possible to register together with this keywords : porn; f*** ;sex etc. ?
I think it would be a great ...

It is funny, but "NxtVSBTC" was bought because of misunderstanding how alias register system works (see here) Grin

He'll get his money back after selling the alias I believe Smiley

can you please get us english speakers the short translated version of why he wanted that alias, what it means, and how it was a misunderstanding, and why he paid so much?

I noticed one feature or bug, not sure.
I registered a word starting with an upper case first letter, then registered it again, but started with a lower case.
Although the second transaction went ok and got confirmed, the alias still shows starting with an upper case first letter.

the 2nd one was considered a reassignment of the target URI

I have to say, I'm impressed by Nxt, 2000+ unconfirmed transactions at once multiple times after the alias system launch and the client and network had no problems at all (at least for me).

Great job Come-from-Beyond and BCNext.

All this registering is actually tiresome when there is so much land to plough.
After dust settles we all have to figure out what to do with those cool names Smiley

That is why I never bothered with all the various porn keywords. Too much work to setup all those sites per sex interest!   Cheesy

Personally... the same way I will sit on my NXT until we exit the atmosphere, the same way I will await the day that perhaps someone will also find value in my aliases.  I will definitely think of some appropriate URIs until then though.

Wish I could help with the development side too... but to late to learn how to code.   Angry

Total newbie here, I'm just trying to wrap my head around how this works, but can someone please give me some ballpark / average figures regarding if this is a worthwhile investment financially? (Ignoring for a minute the greater advantages or disadvantages of cyptocurrencies in general, or of one over another)

Assuming the exchange rate of NXT to USD or whatever fiat currency remained stable (which I presume people hope / expect it won't but rather will rise) what kind of return does the PoS give compared to if I had fiat currency in a savings account at maybe 3% compounded interest. If I bought 1,000,000 NXT how much NXT would I have after 1 year, assuming I forge 24/7?
Is the return based on the number of transactions, so the more it's traded the more you earn? Is there a difficulty factor like bitcoin has? I assume the more people that a forging, the smaller the piece of pie that you get.

If you got a 5% return on 1,000,000 NXT, do you also get a 5% return if you have 100,000,000? Or does a larger stake mean a greater reward per coin?

I appreciate the numbers change but what I'm trying to figure out is, if you mine whatever altcoin, you make an initial outlay of capital for mining equipment, and then regardless of the exchange rate, you earn an income from mining that coin, bitcoin is obviously a bad example now because it's not profitable, but but if you're mining litecoins, say, then you making a return on your initial investment isn't dependent on the value of litecoin going up over time. Is there a tangible return on NXT, or are your only real hopes for the coins you forge being worth anything significant dependent on NXT being adopted by a decent percentage of the market?

Sorry if none of that makes any sense.

I am going to say this again.

Thanks to aliases, NXT is the first crypto currency to offer human readable account names!

This is huge and will make NXT #1 in terms of easy of use and mass adoption.

Or, am I misunderstanding something here?

Yeah, the owner of the alias could set the URI to his account id, and that would make it easy to remember.
Since the framework is there, someone sooner or later will develop a tool to make these mappings transparently built into the client software, shouldn't be hard for a decent coder.
