Wikipedia.org update!

Hey guys,
after quite long time I finished creating new english version of Nxt wiki page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:NXT (it's always better to do something instead of chatting about it)

We have a very nice german version, but you cannot simply translate the text - https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nxt - you need to use new citations in used language.

So it also means this article cannot be translated into languages where are missing published articles in that particular language.

I think now it needs only some grammar corrections and more wiki links and it should finally work. 22 citations could be enough Cheesy

Hei salsacz,

great, thanks for the translation of the german wiki!
I adopted instantly some of your links to the german article and will continue in doing this later.

Do you think, english citations aren't allowed in other languages?

Btw: Guys, I'm still waiting for your ideas how we can illustrate some parts of the NXT-system in graphics. I'm willing to draw them so we can use it in any Wiki-article!

It's a good start.  I can see some places where we can improve it.  For instance in the "Advantages" section it says, "Cannot be centralized by building huge ASIC factories on Iceland[15]".  It would be better if it said, "Blockchain security cannot be centralized by large computational farms."

The reason we keep discussing things and never come to a final decision is because we don't have any deadlines.

The development committee needs to set deadlines on when certain decisions need to be finalized.  Then we can all discuss the proposed suggestions and come to a final decision.

Finishing TF to ensure a high tx rate on the primary NXT blockchain needs to be done.  Thank you Come-from-Beyond for doing this and proceeding with BCNext's plan.

Good point.

Maybe that's why we asked a deadline for the Asset Exchange because we feel the same.
If there is anyone daring to set a deadline;

nxtcountdown.com is waiting  Tongue

The deadline that the community asked for AE was for when it would be deployed on the main net.  I believe AE is set to be released at the end of March.  AE deployment on the main net should not be rushed.

what do you think of the idea of having parallel chains that draw security from the price of NXT on the main chain.

One of the reasons for wanting parallel chains is to address the "initial distribution problem" that has lead to clones.

So although it could be something a parallel chain could do I would not at all want that to be mandatory (in fact the parallel chain should be able to use PoW rather than PoS if it likes).

oh sure. i agree there. choice is always a good thing. let the market decide. im just imagining a future where we have thousands of DAC's, each one needing its own dedicated chain, it would be nice if security could be a function of the value of all chains combined rather than relying on the security provided by their own chain in isolation.
Something like Bitshares?

DACs have to do with Automated Transactions (AT).

I believe Ian is referring to parallel blockchains where the currency is distributed in a PoW manner.  Come-from-Beyond was talking about releasing his own PoW currency on a parallel blockchain a while back.

Hey C-f-B...  is there any chance we get BCNext's 3rd plan ahead of schedule?    Roll Eyes

...it will make more sense to decide/agree on modifications once we have the full picture...

Ask him directly. Salsacz knows his real account.

+1

My impression is that the original time frame holds us back.

New version of NxtWallet for Mac available:

http://nxtra.org/mac/NxtWallet.zip

Shows blockchain download progress. Tomorrow or monday I will release the same version for windows.

It connects to TestNet at first start. you can switch to Main Net via tools menu. I suggest you test everything out in TestNet first as there may be bugs. We need someone to do an audit of the web code.

If you want the old interface, simply go to http://localhost:7875 (main net) in the browser when the app is running.

My Nxt id is : 8189784314684138350 - thanks for any donations.

So much awesome.

Tho I can't seem to get to the main net no matter what :/EDIT: I switched back to testnet and back. All good.

yes, we need to slightly modify forging algo to prevent this:

That was part of the plan and modifying the plan is something the people in this topic simply can't agree on so I don't think that there is any point in you bringing that up *again* (it has been brought up several times before).

I hope you do realise that CfB is simply proceeding with the plan and ignoring all of this discussion (and personally I think he is making the right choice in doing so).

I'm glad Come-from-Beyond is proceeding with the plan.

Maybe in the future, suggestions can be proposed and voted on using Nxt's voting system.  1 Nxt = 1 Vote.  Those that have the most to gain or lose have the greatest say.

I'd like to see more NXT projects listed on CIYAM's project management system.
