I tried the app on two different phones and it worked fine for me - I didn’t experience a single bug.
Onboarding worked fine and I was able to send messages between the phones. What bugs did you have?

I think you should give the team time, beta version is really still not ready to end,but let's be patient
project only 3 months,some of the past ICO can not boast of this,that does not prevent them to be in the top coinmarketcap Grin

In new year Obsidian team are very active, many great news and development updates. ODN price looks strong, and its a good coin for me to hold in this year. Look forward to the messenger release.

Hi there. Regarding differences with most competing messaging software, please have a look at this: https://imgur.com/a/J6OrG

Regarding Signal, there are a lot of similarities regaring the encryption. However, Signal requires you to a phone number, which may be used as an identifier. The Obsidian Messenger requires none of these, instead only giving you a 10-digit identifier which you can give to other people to contact you with; your public key.
Furthermore, the blockchain is hosted on master nodes. These masternodes emulate the tasks which are usually handled by servers: They ensure the messages are delivered to the recipient.

Beyond the messenger application, Obsidian is a platform, meaning other applications can be built to utilise the blockchain as well. One of these is the recently announced Glass project, which aims to be a one-way mirror of sorts as a gateway to services for which anonimity might come in handy. Think therapists, lawyers, or even informing the police.
