I could not establish a connection between encrypted messaging and the blockchain. What happens when you have this coin?

i considering to invest but have some questions

1) as a user, why would i switch to obsidian messenger from my current ones (telegram, signal, ethereum status etc..)
can you state concrete advantages of obsidian vs signal? vs new ethereum status messenger?
why would i pay even miniscule fee for sending message/file when i have free open source alternatives with end to end encryption like signal?

2) why stratis was choosen to fork? and not for example iota which is quantum resistant and have no fees (which seems descent features for messenger)

3) if actual messaging happens off chain, why the blockchain is needed (except for paying fees)

Much more clear now. I think, for now, I'll just grab coins.

Is it fair to assume that we will not be able to mine this coin?

No mining, but you can mint them (stake).

I invested some ETH, just curious - What is the advantage of investing enough to get a MasterNode?

Thanks, and please excuse a noob question if it isn't obvious.

A regular wallet of a full node can help you use ODN coin for trades and the pay for messages on the Obsidian Secure Messenger (OSM). They also allow you to earn some money by staking the coins at an 10% yearly interest.

The MasterNodes, on the other hand, add a new source of passive income that we called "NetGen" or Net(work) Gen(erated) rewards. You will receive fees for routing and temporarily store the messages between users of the OSM.

Cool

Ok - I think I get it - basically the purchase I made will give me coins, but by getting the Masternode, it is a second source of income?
Because I did not put that much in to cover the cost of the Masternode, but hypothetically wanted one, by purchasing more, at the two purchases combined?

Also, do you ALSO get coins when you purchase the Masternode?

Thanks!

1) You can buy coins at any time for a MasterNode, so yes. You can buy some extra coins at 20% bonus for some hours and take advantage of it.

2) You don't get coins when you purchase the MasterNode. You don't buy one. You lock some coins and signal activation to the network. Once active, you can start getting rewards from the message traffic that goes through it.

I hope it's all clear now Smiley

So the masternode take fees from people send messages? How are people willing to pay to send messages while there are so many other options are free?

So the fees on the side of the sender are minuscule and will decrease over time to the point of txt being free. With wallet integration we're talking amounts that would not be too noticeable to the typical holder.

Hello,

How long does it take to get verified/confirmed?  I invested some ether and emailed the information, but I have not heard anything back.  Please let me know, thanks.

Hi phitec,
If you followed the instructions, and sent from a private ETH wallet, you can rest assured that you will have your ODN reserved. The final verifications are currently performed manually, to ensure we protect your investment. For this reason you may not get an 'official' email response for 24 hours from sending.

Thank you for your participation in the pre-sale.

Min. to start or there is no min.?

No minimum. If you are looking to host a masternode, you need to lock in 10,000 ODN depending on when you buy, the price will vary. See below:

(July 15 - July 21) Bonus Tier 1 (20% extra ODN), 1 Masternode = 3.81 ETH or 0.389 BTC
(July 22 - July 28) Bonus Tier 2 (15% extra ODN), 1 Masternode = 3.97 ETH or 0.406 BTC
(July 28 - Aug 04) Bonus Tier 3 (10% extra ODN), 1 Masternode = 4.15 ETH or 0.4242 BTC
(Aug 05 - Aug 11) Bonus Tier 4 (5% extra ODN), 1 Masternode = 4.35 ETH or 0.4444 BTC
(Aug 12 - Aug 18) ICO Week (0% extra ODN), 1 Masternode = 4.57 ETH or 0.4666 BTC

So, what is the function of the masternode? Would it be relaying messages and be paid?

I strongly suggest you develop hardware wallet support (Ledger/Trezor) with the necessary supporting software to run a masternode from them while keeping the 10000 coins secure.

How do you obtain a masternode? Someone said you need 10,000, if you get that what do you do? Just hold it in your wallet?

Correct, you would stake it in your wallet and the coins would get locked up for x amount of time.

It is also worth noting that all Obsidian applications must include an integrated wallet in order to function. Our plan is to have a client which enables you to put your 'Masternode' request to the network.
