What about this on Stratis slack?

This should be highline ,think it more before you invest in .

We actually agree with you 100%

The reason we say that is that everyone should be doing their due diligence for any crypto investment and we invite you all to ask us questions and probe our projects for your own security.

Again, just to reiterate we are not a Stratis side chain, we are in fact a new platform. Because of this, Stratis would have absolutely no reason to back us in any major way. We love Stratis and admire the codebase they have built, that's why we're making use of it and customizing it as we see fit! That's the beauty of crypto after all.

At some point we hope to be able to say to that Stratis team "hey check out this great platform we've built from your base" and who knows maybe some day it leads to collaborations and advancements for both.

Thanks!

Read above posts, please:

We can confirm that Obsidian Platform is not endorsed or supported by Stratis. We are pulling from their open source work and fully appreciate and admire the platform they have built. One of our main developers has done work supporting Stratis, and continues to do so, but their team is not backing ours in any definitive way.

I sincerely hope that clears things up for everyone!

Thanks, and welcome to Obsidian!

Hello! Introduction time, (as my reserved spot was deleted by forum mod, I'll post here).

I am Pete McClory, CEO of the Obsidian Platform, and thought it beneficial to introduce myself, plus go into some details around where we are and where we are going with various aspects of the project.

Some condensed history

1980s - 2000
My first taste of entrepreneurship was when I was about 9 years old, selling homemade cakes in class. I was even taking pre-orders, and got a real taste for business from this point on. I had dreams of getting a 2D platform game demo on the front of Amiga Format, but never quite got there. Instead I turned my focus to music and art, which went well for some time, yet I always had a kind of 'pull' towards technology. I think this was partly due to the fact that my father was a Computer Science lecturer, turned senior lecturer at Manchester Polytechnic (and heavily involved in various kinds of technical consultancy, largely focussed on COBOL, well before it was object-oriented).

2000 - 2005
Completed a BSc covered a mix of subjects from media production and animation through to Java programming, Web design & development.  Worked for the Met Police Forensics Department in London, focussed on R&D including 3D Crime Scene reconstructions. Motion Capture studio manager (including 3D motion data analysis and reconstruction. Assisted with PhD supervision at Bradford University.

2006 - 2016
Freelance web design and development turns into first 'proper' limited company, McClory Media. Company acquires another web and print business. 2013, exit out of the first company to set up a Drupal-focused web development company, Curve Agency, in 2013 (still running today).

2016 - present
Working in an ever intensifying role with the fantastic guys at Obsidian Platform. Many amazing plans and exciting innovations lie ahead in both the near and distant future.

A big hello to everybody who has so far expressed a positive and collaborative interest in the Obsidian Platform. We have already significantly grown our community, less than 24 hours since the initial announcement.

What makes the Obsidian Platform unique?

We differentiate ourselves from many other ICOs in that we actually have a team of developers, have already completed a significant amount on our initial roadmap. Of course, much of this is outlined in our White Paper and on our current roadmap, but I wanted to clarify that the first Obsidian product, the Obsidian Secure Messenger (OSM) has been in development for nearly three years, and that the Obsidian Platform (blockchain) itself has been worked on since 2016. Soon, we aim to enable developers from many different programming backgrounds to integrate their existing app, or build new apps off our platform without learning a new language.

It is very impressive just how far we have already come with our technology, and must say that the team I work with on a daily basis are really quite astonishing in terms of their diligence and abilities. Yes, we do have a working application which is integrated with the Obsidian blockchain, and as with any software product, there will always be more work to do (new features, improving UI, cross-platform, user testing, bug squashing, etc).

TL;DR

OSM - the secure messaging app has been in dev since 2014. Obsidian Platform in dev since 2016. Pre-sale starts Friday with 20% extra ODN to be gained in week 1 of the pre-sale.

Thank you for reading! Please say hello and we welcome you to join us in Slack.

So this has been in development since 2014 and you just announcing now  Huh When does the first week of presale end ?

when does the first week begin?

Thanks for the questions. The secure messaging application is what has been in development since 2014. The platform since 2016. We start week one of the pre-sale tomorrow. The ICO is in four weeks time with 0% ODN bonuses at that point. We end when we have raised our goal of $10M USD worth of ETH/BTC combined.

SCAM? Good? Who knows?

We just try to make a compelling Platform for users and developers feel rewarded to use it. We have this messenger integration, a nice codebase with some work in progress done, a reward system for node holders (PoS + Net(work)Gen(erated) rewards), and a cool bunch of enthusiast people that believe in our idea.. join slack, follow us on twitter and facebook, check this ANN and others to come, invest some BTC/ETH if you like, keep an eye over us ... and decide for yourself  Cool

When you work with passion in something you like, you don't care about opinions. You just care about doing a good job and rejoice with the results!

How can you yell out SCAM just by that info? The team is listed on the website of Obsidian and there is nothing secret/hidden in that. Funny that 'asking for his Minereum coin' seems to exclude being a good (great!) programmer...that's really just plain trashtalking imo. You should join the Slack if you want to gather more info.

Haha! Yeah! I begged for them because it was my first bounty job and I wasn't sure I will be paid (and also, I was testing the waters for an ICO). I like to do some gigs here and there (who doesn't like a bit of extra money?) but my real life, outside of this chat and the cryptoworld, runs around technology and programming. In fact I can program in many many different languages such as 6052, Z80, 68000 and 80x86 assembler, COBOL, Pascal, Ada (a bit), Python (a bit), PHP, Perl, HTML, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, etc. etc. etc.

I have also collaborated with the IETF in a proposal for the HTTP protocol in combination with some australian developers, I did a big chunk of the Spanish version of the PHP4 documentation, and I have even developed an interactive installation for a local museum. I also have collaborated in a Telemedicine book:

https://books.google.es/books?id=-PQV04UFxsoC&lpg=PR11&ots=6re-5mRmab&dq=handbook%20of%20telemedicine%20CATAI&hl=es&pg=PR25#v=onepage&q&f=false

and many many years in programming beore crypto Smiley
