Lisk Foundation has donated 10% of their GBYTEs to Obyte Foundation and sold the rest OTC to several Obyte community members.

Now the concentration of capital in GBYTE has significantly decreased and the risk of a significant portion of the supply being sold on the open market has decreased too.

A new article looking into ideological differences between DAGs and blockchains:

https://blog.obyte.org/dag-vs-blockchain-as-individualism-vs-collectivism-1235efb9be7

Due to the differences in the distribution of power in the two types of distributed ledger, DAG is pro-individualism while blockchain is pro-collectivism.

I looked into Obyte privacy and I believe it is seriously flawed. Though the idea behind Blackbytes is fantastic overall. Each time a user creates a transaction to move  blackbytes, the user has to pay a network fee in Obytes. This violated the coin's privacy, correct me if I'm wrong.

Indeed, the user has to pay network fees in Bytes (not in Obytes), and the address where the user had Bytes shows up on the ledger.  Of course, we'd like to leave as few traces as possible, however I don't think showing their fee-paying address is such a big deal because other privacy protections are still in place:
- the recipient of the payment is hidden
- the payment amount is hidden
- the fee-paying address is pseudonymous

A new article comparing the distribution of power in blockchains and DAGs

https://blog.obyte.org/distribution-of-power-in-dags-and-blockchains-7727ca1a2b6d

In blockchains, the power is concentrated in a few centers, while in DAGs it is more evenly distributed among users.

The world cup is near and we have a simple and beneficial opportunity to bet in a quiet and also fun way. It seems DeFi in addition to blockchain could result in something interesting...

How about checking?

🧐

I was away from the forum for a while and in those moments I wrote about great projects and Obyte cannot stay out of it. The variety of by-products it can aggregate and help people are amazing and with its open source simplicity it has also created a by-product that benefits Github developers and there are probably many talented developers that need to be recognized and there is nothing better than earning incentives.

I confess that it's an interesting initiative because it can have a beneficial effect on the development community and maybe it can boost this huge amount of stalled projects.

We've just launched Prophet -- prediction markets based on bonding curves.

Sports betting, predictions of currency rates, and any other prediction markets. Make bets on future events, or just provide liquidity to markets and earn trading fees.

Thanks to being based on bonding curves, liquidity is always there when you want to make a bet.

Liquidity providers make money by betting on all possible outcomes and getting a portion of trading fees independently of what the outcome is.

Wallet version 4.0.0 has been released https://github.com/byteball/obyte-gui-wallet/releases

What's new:

* Desktop versions were migrated to a new platform: from NWJS to Electron. Please back up before upgrading.
* A security vulnerability has been fixed that allowed reading unencrypted private key under some circumstances when the key is encrypted with a password (access to the file system is required).
* A separate build for M1/M2 Macs, it's blazing fast!
* Removed an empty bar at the top of the window in Windows and Linux versions.
* Contracts with arbitration are now integrated with arbstore.org and ready to be launched.
* Fixed a bug that crashed the wallet when viewing blackbytes transactions.
* Fixed creation of backups on recent Android versions
* Multiple smaller bugfixes and improvements.

Upgrade notes (for desktop versions):
* The data folder has been renamed from byteball to obyte.
* The data folder on Windows has been moved from Local to Roaming (was C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\byteball, now C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\obyte.
* The app automatically discovers the old data folder and moves the data to the new location. However, creating a backup (and additionally making a copy of the data folder) before the upgrade is strongly recommended just in case.
* On Windows, please uninstall the previous version before the upgrade to avoid confusion (uninstall doesn't remove your data).
* On Linux, remove the old AppImage files to avoid accidentally running them and creating a wallet under the old data location.

Bittrex have update your APIs so i think that's the reason why the site https://trade.obyte.org/ has no function any more? I think Obyte must update the API on there side, here are the notification from Bittrex.

https://bittrexglobal.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/5265676037277-V1-1-API-Deprecation-June-2-2022

Bittrex had a 12-hour long maintenance and that brought trade.obyte.org down as it couldn't fetch trade histories. The deprecation of the old API also affected us and we had to upgrade the price oracle as well as some bots. Everything got back on track within a few hours.
