Trying to sell blackbytes through the Freebe bot. When the timer expires you can't get your coins back, it comes up with "Check that smart contract conditions are satisfied and signatures are correct". Not much on the net about it, can't find a fix.

Example post : https://www.reddit.com/r/ByteBall/comments/a6z634/tried_to_sell_blackbytes_now_theyre_stuck_in_a/

anyone know a solution or are most of my blackbytes now stuck forever?

There's a freebe channel on our Discord which is watched by the dev. File a help request there and I'm sure it will be picked up soon.

Seems like network halted. Last transaction posted 1 hour ago.

I can't even send a transaction to myself.

Obyte = not reliable

Network didn't halt, default hub that services light wallets and chat messages had a hiccup, Chinese hub also worked and full nodes still kept running even without the hub.
can you make it so that if the default hub does not work then it is replaced with the next one in the list?

The wallet splash screen says that full node is better for privacy (app won't ask balances for your addresses from hub), so I am guessing it is not that great when light node suddenly picks random hub if it looses connection with main hub. Also, you can lose the connection with main hub by just having shitty internet connection too.
On top of that, hub has API keys for Android and iPhone notifications, which would mean that this backup hub would have to be run by the same person.

So, new hubs make more sense in cases when somebody makes their own version of GUI wallet and starts running a hub to service light nodes of their wallet. Others can still use their hub too, but they probably miss the notifications then.

There is a small typo in the back up warning: ‘recoomended’ instead of ‘recommended’.

Thanks for letting know, will be fixed in the next release.

Version 2.7.2 released https://github.com/byteball/obyte-gui-wallet/releases

* Fixed crashes of full wallets under some circumstances.
* Added backup reminder that pops up once the total balance exceeds $10 and urges you to create a backup.
* On Android, the app now displays where the backup was saved and allows to immediately share it to your other device or cloud storage (e.g. via Dropbox, email, Telegram, etc).
* Fixed a bug in message signing function when the message didn't contain any address.
* Fixed a bug in message signing function in iOS wallet, the signed message was incorrect.
* Fixed sending of textcoins via WhatsApp on Android.

iOS wallets already received the update a couple of days ago, the release for other platforms was delayed due to building issues on Android, which are now solved.

Not your keys, not your coins!
When the name was changed to Obyte and why?
Byteball rebranded to Obyte nearly 5 months ago, and you can get more details on when and why reasons here: Byteball Rebrand — The next step to real-world adoption

First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold
When the name was changed to Obyte and why?

I still see Byteball name and ticker GBYTE on exchanges, so this rebranding was not so successful.

Byteball was and still is a great name for a coin, so why to change something which is good and works?

This will only bring more confusion, as we see from posts above and that is the last thing Byteball/Obyte/GBYTE/Black Bite needs right now.

We all know that this project has always problems with marketing, distribution and a few others, but this rebranding idea is the worst from all of them.

Results we see on the price exactly, this the perfect measurement tool. I was sure Byteball/Obyte price found his deep but was wrong and is still going down every day.

That this project with such a great tech behind cannot find a place on the crypto market is just something hard to understand, taking into consideration all this shitcoins in first 100 on CMC.

I have an byteball backup from 2017. How can I return the backup? Now that byteball is Obyte?

what i know is , safe the wallet.dat , and reinstall the wallet and replace the old wallet with the new one...

Don't think it works this way.

Have a look at this good article https://steemit.com/byteball/@profchydon/how-to-perform-a-full-backup-and-restore-for-your-byte-wallet

It has been written before the rebranding to Obyte but the wallet still works same way as before I guess.

So download the latest version a perform a restore from backup/fullbackup dependng on how you saved it two years ago.

Exactly, Obyte is not a Bitcoin fork, so there is no wallet.dat, you need to use the "Full backup" from the settings and then "Restore from full backup" on new device. After that you should stop using the old device.

Hi,

The branding name shouldn't have any influence on backups. So, try simply to load your 2017 backup into the last version of the Obyte wallet.

Is there any honest development still going into this project? I was a big believer in it earlier, bought a bunch, and now see it's just totally dusted. Pretty disheartening.

Development happens on Github, all the code is open-source, so you can see what is going on https://github.com/byteball
Just month ago, there was a huge wallet update, which fixed many small bugs that the wallet had and also introduced prosaic contracts https://github.com/byteball/obyte-gui-wallet/releases
Next big change is already on testnet https://github.com/byteball/OIPs/blob/master/oip-0002.md

Only the biggest news are posted on Bitcointalk, but these get buried behind FUD very quickly.
If you want to know what is actually going on then join Discord, Reddit or subscribe to newsletter.

A lot of development is happening with Obyte. Just think at the prosaic contracts, which alone is a tool theoretically able to change the way ordinary people do ordinary contracts worldwide. If they only knew. It will take time I guess.

it's a pity to see this project did not get enough attractions, it's a great project.
