Just wanted to make people aware of a site called https://megaexchange.trade/ which looks very much like a scam site.

I sent 1 Gbyte there to exchange, with no response.  I wrote to them and the site suddenly went down as soon as I did (or at least it has decided not to respond to this IP address, which is on DHCP so changes sometimes).  A couple of days later it came online.  I'd saved the transaction number and the content of my email before sending, so sent again today.  What do you know the site went down again ("Internal Sever Error" is what it displays).  I'm curious to know if it 'appears' to have an error if anyone else tries to view the site.

I also saved the send and receive addresses, and it can be seen that it was received without issue, and promptly moved here:

https://explorer.byteball.org/#W6GFF5J7USIMLNAXT2GSSXHIUPJVYEO4

When searching google I can't find anything suggesting it is a scam (which is what I looked for before sending to the site since I'd never heard of it), so I'm writing this now to at least start the ball rolling, and strongly suggest that nobody use it.

Site loaded for me. You should use VPN (I recommend airVPN). Then you can quickly change your IP to see if the site is really offline or you were just blacklisted.

I'll try that and see.  I have a feeling they're blocking my IP and sending me a bogus server error response so as not to have to respond to me.

Did you send 1 BYTE or actually send 1,000,000,000 BYTES (1 GBYTE)? It is a common mistake. Even if 1 GBYE not enough money for an exchange to play games such as you are suggesting. To send 1 GBYTE the amount sent in the wallet must be 1,000,000,000.

I sent 1GB (~$200+).  The byteball explorer link above shows the actual transaction.

If I were a trader and live/die by the sword and took a loss that's one thing, but traps like the above have got to be illegal surely(?).  I was just swapping out 1GB to go to PayPal in USD (or so I was led to believe).  The 1GB was actually a test before moving more.  I've made this mistake in the past when I had 50 BTC in Gox, and was told that things were getting shaky, so I removed 40 of them and asked for the remaining 10 to be converted to fiat.  The last part didn't happen.  The only reason I did that was because at that time BTC was worth a lot less ($113.30 each) and if converting only 1BTC would have had a huge chunk eaten by T/T fees.  From today's perspective that sounds crazy of course  without the context.

Wouldn't it be an idea to have an option in the wallet that upon a payment out, the 'change address' is the original Byteball address that is used for linking in the airdrops? That would avoid people missing airdrops without their knowledge and would make it easier for people to use Byteball more for small transactions, without running into trouble with future airdrops.

Coins like DeepOnion offer this functionality in the wallet software.

This feature was merged in our github a day ago and will be available in the next release.  It will enable what you say, and a few other interesting things.

oh oooh, sounds good !

Could you say more about the few other interesting things ?

You'll know when we release.

What are the use cases for a full node, if the lite node is sufficient for most of the byteball activities? Is it possible to bootstrap the full node with a separate download of the 10GB files, like many other wallets do?

Lite is sufficient for most cases.  Full node is considered better for privacy in the same way a bitcoin full node is (so to speak).  Full node has a very few reasons to be run.

There is not a bootstrap capability that I know of; but....

You can find someone that has a full node synced and:

1) willing to make a backup so that you could restore.  Then, you could delete the user data in order to restart as a full node in which is creates a new wallet which is already synced.
or
2) willing to zip up the directory (except the user data).  Then you could start the app and select full node.

In either case, the above (backup or zip) will take 2GB of space compressed.

Even after three weeks, Wallet synchronization will not end.

Is there a solution?

You picked a full node.  This means is has to sync the entire dag.
It is currently 10GB in size.

You know where it is at since byteball tells you where in time the dag has downloaded.

Unless you have a specific reason for using a full node, I would suggest you use a lite mode.
- If you don't have blackbytes in the process of going to your address then simply delete the data folder and then restart the app choosing lite client (default)
- If you do have bytes, then it's easy to convert to a new wallet using lite mode.

Now the current price are without any manipulation by those whales which were pumping as long as distribution was going on. I see these price as true value where the project will take off gradually which is far more better than what was happening during last few months. There is no speculation right now but this is showing more seriousness and long term benefits to be watched now.

Do you mean the price is more reflective of the true value without whale manipulation?

There is nothing like true value in the world of money, but only market value. Surely, whale manipulation is one of the elements of a market that can drive prices up and down in markets with a limited liquidity. Perhaps whales could be manipulating the price now dumping to buy Bytes cheaper, who knows...

Whales can easily manipulate the market; however, don't think it's related simply to byteball or simply markets with limited liquidity (although easier), it is done with all cryptos.

Is there any use case of blackbytes
like where can i sell this blackbytes, unable to find any market of it

http://www.beeb-bot.com/

If you know you have blackbytes, then you have a wallet.  Trading can done directly within the wallet.  Not sure where you were looking, but you should first look around in the wallet itself at the features it has.

About this, is there any particular reason why GBB is not on any exchange? I know this has been asked a gazillion times already but I still wonder, what is it about GBB's anonymity tech that makes it not a good fit for exchanges compared to other anonymous crypto? XMR, for example, is also anonymous but tradeable on Bittrex.

Not sure what the market cap is, but if I'd have to guess, volume and price would be too low to make any profit.

But isn't the low price the fault of the non-existent exchanges on which to trade it? AFAIK there's 2.11x as many GBB as there is GB.

This post made by Byteball developer tonych is now 30 pages back. I think this contains the most important news on Byteball this month, so I want to bring it back to the attention of new readers:

Many news today.

1. We have our first cashback merchants:
Premiumize: Premium downloads, cloud torrents, and VPN.  They also accept payments in Bytes.
NODEshare: masternode as a service.  They also accept payments in Bytes and offer merchant match for large orders.
Other partners are at various stages, I'll announce them when launched.
Cashbacks will come from this address https://explorer.byteball.org/#TU3Q44S6H2WXTGQO6BZAGWFKKJCF7Q3W

2. We'll skip the October full moon.  We need more time to allow more merchants to join the cashback program and I want a larger share of the remaining undistributed coins to be used for acquiring new users.  Larger partners have large teams and need more time to make decisions and integrate.  The next distribution (after September 6) will be on the full moon of November (Nov 4, 2017), and the rules are the same as for September: +10% for Byte holders, 0.00625 GB/BTC for Bitcoin holders.

3. My long time partner Steve Safronov has joined our team and will take care of business development.  He was CEO in one of my previous businesses and helped to grow it manyfold and then sell.  His current focus will be helping solid real-world non-crypto projects raise funds through ICOs on Byteball platform, there are a number of projects already being prepared since August (still early stages).  He will be our 4th team member with committed time, he will be paid from the Community Fund, and I fully trust him to bring new business into Byteball.

Lack of information and reviews about an exchange service is a huge red flag. They don't even have contact information (just a generic form) and no social media accounts associated with them which is even worse.

i hope path forward for byteball grows after airdrop starts to fade away, good underlying tech
The airdrop is already half done. Its true that we only see the true value of byteballs after the whole distribution is complete.I hope it ends by the first half of 2018.

I don't buy nor sell anything here and never will.
johnsmithx are you a joke or what? You maybe do not even know what BurtW underwent a while ago because only an idiot would reply that way to him. You better keep your keyboard far away when you post something referring to him.
Unbelievable, really.

Little dumb american child, you wouldn't recognize a scam even if it stared right into your eyes, that's how brainwashed you are.

Ignored.

Even after three weeks, Wallet synchronization will not end.

Is there a solution?
