switching to segwit should help reduce the fees! i haven't sent any segwit transaction yet(tomorrow i'll transfer my coins to segwit address). heard the fee are cheap, someone sent a tx with 2 cents fee it took 24 hours to get in a block, as segwit gets adapted more and more tx will be included in a block at faster rate.

The segwit adoption in my opinion is very very slow. Its maximum optimization would be when there are many inputs and many outputs and every single input and output is a segwit transaction.

Right now its mostly computer wizzes people that send bitcoin segwit transaction and most are done for testing.

Until Coinbase, Poloniex, Bitfinex starts enabling Segwit address, much won't change really.
