A few guys I work with are into bitcoin and etherum. They will never spend either, but invest in it as a forex.
you mean you do some trading with cryptocurrencies? i think you should be careful about it because you might lose it really easily if the prices drop

Just today, I was on the bus and I was fiddling with my OTG cable to send a transaction on my phone with my Ledger wallet. I looked to my right, and what where the odds? The guy next to me was doing the same! We started talking, and we just kept talking!

What are the odds of you meeting a bitcoiner IRL?

P.s. I was not taking into the window.

What happened to you is really rare. I was on a bus once and saw a guy checking out what Bitcoin price is. I was so gald to see a random person who is interested in Bitcoin. I didn't talk to him but it was nice to see anyway.

in my country it will be very rare, most of the bitcoin user in my country keep on low radar, and they seldom put their wallet or any apps in their phone, although of the rare chances, i ever encounter one of my old friend in reunion, when i want to introduce him to bitcoin, he said he already knew it and after a few drinks and chat, it turns out he is more professional than me, he already earned more than i do

I live in a big city with a few million citizens, so I guess the probability increase when there is good infrastructure and shared public transport. We have some people with taxi services that accepts

Bitcoin, but you have to ask.. it's not common. I have weekly or bi-weekly Bitcoin meetups, so I guess over time, I have met most of the people in my area, that are into Bitcoin. I do meet them in

some of the Coffee shops and also restaurants that accepts Bitcoin too.  Grin

Not that often, but it also happened to me a while back.
I went to a meetup with Liberland (the new micronation) enthusiasts and met a few people who were also into Bitcoin.

I meet them every day, at the BTM's and the merchants accepting Bitcoin and at the meetups in my area. So this is not a big thing to me anymore. You just need to go to the places where Bitcoin is accepted and you will meet the people behind the coin. I buy some coins directly off some of these people too, so I do not have to use exchanges and bank accounts.

Bitcoin is great!

I'm yet to find a fellow bitcoiner IRL. Bitcoin slowly spreading in my country, but meeting bitcoiners here would need a pre-arranged schedule. An example would be localbitcoins users that prefer face-to-face transactions.

I've met a lot online though.

I just have some online bitcoiner friends. and the first one is he who introduced and explained bitcoin to me. are they counted? or just people we meet in real life? if so, I think I don't have any IRL then.

I met different people who invested in crowdfunding using bitcoins but those people are not really doing bitcoin transactions. They dont really understand how bitcoin works.

But as you said, did I met a person in a certain place whom I do not Know and is a bitcoin enthusiast. The answer is no since in our area I am the only one who is really a fanatic of bitcoin. It may be possible if i get out of town. I only met bitcoiners on facebook but not physically.

this is wonderful, it had to feel good.
but sadly in my country i think the chance of that happening is nearly zero because so few people even know about bitcoin. let alone use bitcoin hardware wallet. and those few who know bitcoin, know it as an "account" on blockchain.info which is really wierd.

I know a few officemates who are into bitcoin, mainly for gambling. Haven't really encountered another bitcoin user in public transport. I open my bitcoin wallet once in a while while I'm on commute but there seems to be no other one doing that aside from me.

For the past 1 year, I did meet one guy who talk about bitcoin. I was a bit cunning and pretend I know nothing about bitcoin- just to see how a bitcoiner explain bitcoin to a layman.

Turn out he actually was quite good of doing that and even ask me to install a bitcoin wallet app so that he can send me a tiny bit of bitcoin!

hmm... panhandling for satoshi..

Dude, that's so cool.  I've only met a couple of people who've even heard of bitcoin.  But then again I dislike talking to people.

Yeah, that is my experience as well.  I have met ZERO people into BTC (while going about non-BTC business), and only one or two who even know anything about BTC or even its existence.

We still have a long way to go...

This only proves the popularity of Bitcoin has not reached its peak yet. I haven't met a person by accident that is also into Bitcoin or at least know something about Bitcoin. I met a guy in person because we ave a deal that needs to be done on face to face but other than that I haven't. I'm planning to put the Bitcoin logo on my car and motorcycle someday.

That's cool, until i seen the "p.s" i did think you may have seen your reflection in the window.
I have only ever meet other bitcoiners at meetups and hanging around bitcoin ATM's, both likely places to meet.

I found a fellow bitcoiner, or maybe more of a cryptocurrency enthusiast, from my town. But the funny thing is we have not met in real life. We just have common friends and I see him only here in the forum. I knew it was him because my friend told me his screen name here at BCT.
