I'm not really convinced with the board which this post is located or maybe I'm wrong.
o_e_l_e_o was very active and, in my opinion, the best in the technical sections of our forum. Although, if you reference Ninjastic space to check which boards he mostly wrote in, you would see Bitcoin Discussion, Beginners & Help, and Meta at the top, followed by several technical boards. Since many of the posts in the list are also in the mentioned technical forums and this is generally a section with little spam, I wanted my thread to be here.
I was definitely right about the location of the post, it's more of a reputation focused thread than technical even tho a good number of Leo's post were technically oriented.

Good to see it here.

I have taken my time to read through Leo's most merited post and it was absolutely out of experience he wrote them all. I guess I have to do a whole lot of reading because I couldn't comprehend some things because I have no clue of what they are taking about.

His merits, reputation, popularity and respect is all worth it. wherever he is right now he deserves more accolades and roses 🌹

I also appreciate your efforts Pmalek for bring them out for learning purposes.

Very good topic. One of the most valuable things that exist is knowledge, bringing together this entire collection in one place is truly a work that deserves to be read by as many people as possible.

Thanks.

Thank you, Pmalek, for your contributions to the forum. I'm saddened by how our respected member left, and I pray for his well-being. If he's with us, may he be blessed with good health. If not, may he find peace in the after life

Despite my short time here, I've been astounded by this forum's wealth of knowledge and wisdom. It's a joy to be part of this community, and I only wish I had discovered it sooner. Sadly, such a dedicated person has left the forum. Forums are much better when dedicated people are in the forum. However, no one lives forever, and neither will I nor you; we will have to say goodbye forever, and it is hard to accept that there is nothing we can do.

Since he was very dedicated and honorable, there was no one else in the forum like him, so his last three departures have been an exciting day for this forum.

Leo might have left the forum but his contribution will live on. Glad we have access to his posts/responses and for people like me that are still starting the technical aspect of Bitcoin, it will be a rare privilege to have such resources available for free. Another good thing is that he has made a lot of people here who will be able to help those coming behind, so I believe there will be continuity in the forum and people willing to give back the same measure of knowledge they got from him. Although, learning from the source gives a different vibes, but it is unfortunate he has to leave. He will always be missed!

Although I didn't get a chance to learn from him (o_e_l_e_o). I joined this forum a few days after his chapter ended, it's very sad for me that I didn't have the chance to take advice from a wise man like him.

I have been reading some of his (o_e_l_e_o) posts for the past 2 hours trying to learn from some of his phrases. Even if he is not present among us, we can gain knowledge by studying his writings. By studying his writings, we can keep him alive in our hearts forever.

@Pmalek boss, thank you very much. To introduce a legend like him (o_e_l_e_o) to us. Those who came to this forum after he (o_e_l_e_o) passed away, may recognize @o_e_l_e_o sir from your presentation.

It was so painful to me seeing that he is no more around this forum, losing a knowledgeable and reputable member like o_e_l_e_o same as Lighter_warrior, these two soul was a something else to the forum and I believed forum will ever miss them. Back o_e_l_e_o I can also remember then going through his post on his profile gives me a lot of lift although I wasn't that technical enough to understand some of the things but it got to open my eyes through his writings including the kind of wallet i can keep holding my coin,- in all, also learned about security and privacy, words alone can't expressed the full embodiment of his knowledge towards him.

I know, nobody is perfect in this world because sometimes we make mistakes to learn to impact other people so that they can grow higher in the future which is what o_e_l_e_o_'o_s did in this community, I think o_e_l_e_o'_s deserve to be celebrated in this community because his impact is what is keeping many people in this community today, farewell mentor, may his gentle soul continue to rest in peace.

Leo once sent me a DM, saying some nice things about me. I will obviously not share the DM, but, I mean... this is one of the greatest gifts I have ever got in this forum.
We exchanged very few DMs on Bitcointalk. I saw his Farewell thread very late and by the time I contacted him for a final goodbye, he was already gone.

Also I wonder, are these truly the Top 100 based on Merits?
The list is based on DdmrDdmr's Bitcointalk Merit Dashboard. You can see a user's most merited posts from the Most Merited Posts/Threads tab. I omitted posts that were off-topic in the sense that they were not about Bitcoin or the forum. Leo had several high-merit posts in Politics & Society and Off-topic. Some were about the COVID vaccines. There is one thread he created on 1 April which was about forming a new gang based on IQ levels. I didn't include those and some others because I only wanted to fill the list with Bitcoin and forum-related posts.

I thought of it a sign of respect you didn't add his farewell post as it's too famous to be omitted.
As I said to PrivacyG, I intentionally left out certain types of posts. The Farewell thread actually has 2 posts that are in his top 100 most merited, but I didn't think it should be part of my collection.

After a few cross check which validates you spent lots of hours on this post, I was able to single out a post of O_e_l_e_o that deserves to be on this list:

New new ultimate guide to ranking up as fast as possible (MODERATOR IN 7 WEEKS)

A post he made on April fool day, basically a sarcastic way to rank up in the forum
I didn't include that either precisely for its sarcastic nature. There is nothing wrong with it, though.

Leo was incredibly an asset to the forum, the impact of his problem solving skills helped many to ascertain solutions to their problems. He was a smart brain here in this forum, he was more of problem solver than anything you can imagine in this forum. His earned merits is enough reason to justify that Leo was indeed a quality poster and a problem solving. One thing that triggered me most is the fact that he had a vast technical knowledge about things and his contributions were valid. I saw him as a superhuman.

I miss you Leo, irrespective of the time you've gone, no one has been able to fill the sport you left because of the remarkable contribution and the personality that you are. You'll continue to remain in our hearts.🕯️rest on legend

@o_e_l_e_o was truly a great man, he was very knowledgeable and active member, no one could find any mistake in any of his posts, he was like a guardian to us in this forum. Everyone could learn a lot from his post. o_e_l_e_o has made a place in the hearts of many people of this forum through his knowledge, wisdom. His contribution will be remembered forever by us. And he will always In memoriam in our hearts.

@o_e_l_e_o was the highest merit member in this forum. He has written a total of 16,673 posts and his merit number is 18,640.

@Pmalek sir, You've made a list of 100 of his most merited posts, I know it's not an easy task, it took a lot of hard work, but you've done it, thank you very much.

I am presenting o_e_l_e_o's first, second, and third time merit earning posts:

1st time merit earn post: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.29533365 Merited From: alyssa85, total merit no: 1

2nd time merit earn post: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.29867838 Merited From: Vod, mk4. total merit no: 3 (Vod, 2) (mk4, 1)

3rd time merit earn post: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.30022290 Merited From: paxmao total merit no: 1

I went to @o_e_l_e_o's profile and started searching from his first post, that's how I found his three posts where he got his first, second and third time to earn merit.

Hope I didn't make any mistakes here.

o_e_l_e_o was a very knowledgeable member on the forum and I benefited from his posts all the time. The guy was just a too good technical guy. It was as if he knew everything related to technical discussions and not just knowing them he had an experienced knowledge about it.

Infact my very first set of Merits came from o_e_l_e_o and a couple of active technical board members as he and a couple of forum members guided me on setting  up a standard air gapped device as well as the differences and dangers of  closed source and open source softwares. o_e_l_e_o I think having over 18,000 earned merit is enough to show his contributions to the forum as earning such huge amounts of Merits without actually merriting it will draw the attention of forum members negatively.

On top all of that o_e_l_e_o was quite a nice guy so painful to this space he had leave after fighting health issues for sometime. I think I wrote a Poem for him after he left Also, a +1 to you Pmalek for putting these together it will answer a couple of questions for forum members.

I believe this thread is self moderated because of kruw  Cool because when last I checked he has been , should I say o_e_l_e_o 's die hard hater Undecided
o_e_l_e_o was an expertise and a connoisseur of bitcoin technical and software related discussions, and from the way he provides answers and  solution's to technical questions you can literally conclude it gave him joy with each moment he does that.

o_e_l_e_o,  as I know was mostly giving merits to posts that dealt on technical discussion about bitcoin than anywhere else,  for it was after his departure from the forum I started contemplating, maybe it was that  he saw what the future held in front for him, because I realized that,  what he was doing was a way of encouraging and attracting more forum members to grow desire and interest in technical aspect of bitcoin discussions more than the common non-technical areas because it's obvious that the forum has a lot of members involved on the other side than in the technical.

Great thread man. Leo was a great guy, very knowledgeable and was great to communicate with too. I many times used the advanced search option and included him as the "by user" for what I was looking for, to see when he has talked about that subject and it was very helpful more often than not.

It's quite unfortunate that I didn't get the chance to have a personal experience with him on individual basis, as my account was barely few months old by January 2024 and I was still finding my way around the forum. But from the testimonies I have read about him from old members of the forum, has proven to me that he was such a good Man. A good fellow and a lover of peace who has contributed greatly to the growth of this forum. I have taken little time to go through some of his post history and of a truth he was a knowledgeable Man. There is no doubt his absence is already been felt in this forum. Strength and courage to his family and friends to keep bearing his loss, as it is clear that nobody can fill the void he has left.
Keep resting in peace o_e_l_e_o!!

Even though I am not a poster of the technical board I have known leo to be a good and active poster of the technical board.
Based on his records, I don't think he could be forgotten anytime soon because there are a lot of good post of his that has thought a lot of people things that they don't know. But let's hope that we have someone like him sooner.

You may be right about o_e_l_e_o making more of his contribution in the forum in the technical discussion board but however, your post talks more of his personality during the time he spent with us here before he left us and created a topic about he departure so I also feel that the appropriate board should be the reputation board since you are referring to his achievements in the forum.

Within the short time I got to know o_e_l_e_o,  at first i used to mistook him for the position of Theymos and I do admire his technicality in the technical board but I was just unfortunate not to have more knowledge about technical discussions in the forum. His announcement of his departure on 17th January 2024 shocked almost every one in the forum and it looks like a vacuum was created in the person of o_e_l_e_o

I am indebted to him for the countless times he helped me by answering my questions. I wouldn't have grown so quickly in my knowledge of Bitcoin if it weren't for Bitcointalk. This is a "thank you" not just to him, but to all of you. Smiley

Leo once sent me a DM, saying some nice things about me. I will obviously not share the DM, but, I mean... this is one of the greatest gifts I have ever got in this forum.
I`m quite jealous for those who knew Leo and where somewhat close to him, in as much as I always admire him and also from the fact I usually put his comment on every topic as priority since I guessed he was the most technically knowledgeable  and his post are easier to understand than others.
He is a source of inspiration to many here especially those who are often in the technical board where I ought to be quite active but sadly hasn`t been since I`m busy outside BTT this time and need to improve my knowledge.

o_e_l_e_o farewell made me realized more that is not just to earn merit but who actually send you such merit matters, after his farewell message I was really sad he was leaving especially from the fact that I didn`t think I have ever got merited from him, since he was really among the most generous merit senders not receiving from him especially from the technical board was disappointing since there is no chance to earn from which ought to be a way of consolation for me but I thank God at least I got from him in my last year participation from the pizza contest but at least I can hold on to this as a consolation for one who inspire me a lot. Funny how he made see the essence of learning more of cryptography & mathematics.

I thought this was going to be a Top 100 sorted from most Merited to least, if that is the case then I do not think it is properly sorted.  I found many of the last few have a total of 14 Merits while there are other Posts ranked higher on your list with over 14.

On the other hand, I think it will be hard to sort these considering there are people who will only now see some of these 100 Posts and decide to send their Merits toward them.

Also I wonder, are these truly the Top 100 based on Merits?  Considering the HUGE Merit count, I would think there are other Posts with even more than what you found so far.

-----

It's been almost half a year without Leo, and the forum has felt emptier since his departure.
It is for sure, I think all of us who knew him are missing him and all the discussions we had with him.  If there is one person I rarely contradicted if ever, it was him and I learned so much from his great ability of sharing his knowledge in a way so easy to understand and hard to contradict.

We fortunately do have waves of new people coming in with a great passion for Privacy, but what is truly and evidently missing is his knowledge which ranged broadly.
