CaVirtex has a solid relationship with Bitcoiniacs.

We wish Bitcoiniacs and Robocoin success with their Bitcoin ATMs.

http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/1pijzd/my_experience_with_the_various_bitcoin_atms/

Why does he say this in his posting....

"Apparently the ATM does Bitstamp rate +3% (I might be wrong about the exact exchange, but I know it's not the Canadian VirtEx, since they were quite unresponsive in communicating with the developers). While the rate might not be that great in comparison to some other ways of getting BTC, but in Canada it's not entirely unreasonable with VirtEx charging pretty high fees by itself."

Can you comment on this? I thought this machine was to be using VirtEx?

... freedomno1 ... nothing to do with Cavirtex.

I guess that proves Transito was incorrect on his presumption that their is no relationship between the two organizations using Cavirtex as the means of exchange will likely last a while  Wink

It did have something to do with cavirtex and I was right in making that connection.
(Sorry just messing with you I didn't like the unilateral statement you made saying it was irrelevant to the topic. When I linked a news-feed and made a good connection to the relevancy of the topic. Got to be careful when using unilaterals.)

I do however admit that I presumed incorrectly that they were Cavirtex ATM machines not independents and for that I apologize again

Thanks for the clarification

They are probably using cavirtex because of their adherence to Canadian regulations

... freedomno1 ... nothing to do with Cavirtex.

I disagree with you on that transisto if more atms enter the network trade volume in Cavirtex will rise, also if the atms become more popular we may see an increasing usage of bitcoin in Canada which is good for their merchant lists.

Actually read back and I mislabeled that my apologizes edited that part out and strike through-ed my post

Cavirtex ATM's and these ATM's are different that said transactions will be done on these atm's using Cavirtex and by targeting major population centers increase bitcoin usage in Canada.

Since they are among the first in the world it is interesting news, and since Cavirtex is being used is relevant to the topic.
The owner of these ATM will purchase their bitcoin from the cheapest source, no matter what.

You might think it's Cavirtex right now, it may not last long.
AFAIK, Cavirtex has no relationship with Robocoin or Bitcoiniac.

What do ATMs have to do with Cavirtex ?

They are being used as transfer devices increasing the practical userbase

The new ATM, to operate near downtown Vancouver coffee house Waves, will trade Canadian dollars for online Bitcoins. Users are required to do a palm scan and are permitted to exchange up to $3,000 per a day.

Canadian cash is exchanged  on Canada’s VirtEx exchange for Bitcoins, which are then entered in your online bitcoin wallet. Transactions will be anonymous.

The palm scan is to limit people to less than $3,000 worth of transactions, and avoid tangling with Canada’s anti-money-laundering laws, says Demeter, who adds that he believes he is complying with all Canadian laws

Second Point of Information

Network set to expand to more Canadian Cities
High population Centers

The other four ATMs are set for release sometime in December. The other cities which are likely to get a taste of bitcoin ATMs are Ottawa, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto.

Logically connecting this to the news from October 9

Edit Out They are Separate ATM's did not make the proper distinction

I am hoping it gives us the option to deposit cash to our cavirtex account that we can then use to buy by at our own discretion.
Otherwise cavirtex will need to find a way to substantially increase its order book

Sweet I can't wait to use it.
Hopefully they will bring one to Victoria soon
Let's say the localbitcoin average price is 200$, and exchange price is 210$,

What price would you be willing to pay through the ATM ? (within 10km range)

How much if it was the opposite, localbitcoin 210$ and exchange 200$

With the first every bitcoin ATM being set up in Vancouver next week and the funds being handled by CaVirtex (according to the CBC article) is there any chance Virtex debit card holders can get a special deal if they use that (or one of those) new ATMs?
Peace.

Are you able to comment on this?

CaVirtex to integrate litecoin: unofficially announced today at the toronto bitcoin summit. Litecoin trading coming "soon". "Couple of weeks".

http://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/1p68as/cavirtex_to_integrate_litecoin/

There may have been a slight miscommunication at the Summit. Litecoin will be coming Virtex, however, it won't be in a couple of weeks. As much as we want to offer Litecoin, it won't be available for a little while yet.

In case you missed it...

In the following YouTube video, Virtex CEO Joseph David explains how Virtex customers can turn Bitcoin into Canadian dollars and withdraw cash onto a debit card. Be sure to watch until the very end so you can save yourself some CAD.

Dont you think it is time to lower your fees again?
Or at least lower your volume to fee ratio
I know im a small fish I do about 400 btc trades per month but even as a share holder I cant use your service for anything besides transferring cnd to btc
Why not make 300btc the volume for .5%
Canada is not that small of a market and I would rather use cavirtex as a storage place for my btc to trade then bitstamp
But I cant because I would lose more money on the trading fees then the cost of an international wire
....

Hi there,

As I'm sure you can appreciate, there are significant costs associated with operating a Bitcoin exchange in Canada. As a result, we are not planning to reduce fees at the present time.

Thank you for your understanding and for your business.
