Wow.  This works fantastic.  Great work, as always.

I love the Temperature display now.  Would it be possible to add an option to display the GPU and fan speed?  That would be nice to see if things are getting throttled down.

I also just did a git pull:

[2011-09-06 14:27:38] /home/btc/bitcoin/cgminer: --auto-fan: unrecognized option

I doubt it'd make any difference, but I removed the existing local repo and started with a fresh git clone. The rest was as normal according to the README with the APP and ADL SDKs.

Running ./configure is a breeze now, and clearly shows whether GPU or ADL support has been found prior to compiling.

Same here, but new features are awesome. Thank you.

As per the README: grab AMD's ADL, unzip and copy the header (*.h) files from the "include" directory to the "cgminer/ADL_SDK" directory. After that, configure should pick up card control support and it'll be available in the compiled binary.

Ahh, skipped a word.  Thanks =) Lemme go try that

Okay I read the readme, searched the thread (long thread) so I apologize if I've overlooked this

I've put the ADL_SDK dependencies in the right place (the 3 .h files)... but it's still not recognizing it. On Windows7x64 5770

Thank you for this incredible achievement in mining software. CGMINER is the best miner by far, and now with these new features the most advanced by far.

What is NFI? How can I make these cgminer stats work with 4 GPUs? I have one dummy plug, should I make more? Wink
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=N.F.I

Possibly the dummy plugs will help. Try one and see if that card comes up too. Also see which card it is that happens to be working in the list.

Dummy plugs did not help, just tested. I have two crossfired radeon 6990s and as you could see from my screen shot, only one gpu temperature is displayed. Any ideas? Sad I get the same result without dummy plugs...

Okay, turned out that I didn't have ADL files in the folder. Con, please fix the readme file in that folder as the adl_structures file isn't checked by the ./configure but doesn't compile on make. Smiley
It checks for only one of the header files. I assumed that the instructions saying to
Quote
Copy all the *.h files in the "include" directory into cgminer's ADL_SDK directory.
were clear enough.

So, the only way to make use of the ADL dependent features is to compile my own binary for windoze?

The fan speeds and clock speeds seem to be updated too quick, it doesn't sound like it's doing anything at all. Though i have 4 cards in the one box so an adjustment of 5% is probably negligible in terms of audible sound.

Just to confirm, if i want to over clock my core speed to 825, set the fan to never go over 65% and to maintain 90 degrees i would use:
Code:
#!/bin/bash
cd ~/cgminer
DISPLAY=:0 ./cgminer -c p1.json -c p2.json --submit-stale --auto-fan --auto-gpu --gpu-engine 825 --gpu-memclock 300 --temp-overheat 95 --temp-target 90 --gpu-fan 65

Now i assume cgminer would automatically adjust the clock to the maximum possible with a ceiling of 825 while trying to maintain 90 degrees by adjusting the fan speed to a max of 65% (unless it hits the overheat value)?

I would prefer to sacrifice clock speeds to keep fan noise down.

Omitting the --auto-gpu/fan would set cgminer to always run the card at 820mhz and always run the fan at 65% (unless overheating)?

What happens if i use:

Code:
DISPLAY=:0 ./cgminer -c p1.json -c p2.json --submit-stale --auto-fan --auto-gpu  --temp-overheat 95 --temp-target 90

Does cgminer automatically overclock to the maximum possible for me?

Thank you for the new features.
However they don't seem to work (except fan control) for my HD6950@6970 ASUS DirectCUII card.
Maybe cause these cards use a different voltage controller ?

Anyway - sent you a small 'thank you' to your bitcoin wallet.

Unfortunately that does not remotely look like portable code, even to the point of breaking possibly between linux kernel releases if you're really unlucky and card specific.  Undecided Oh and possibly a real bitch to maintain because of that.

Can you make it so if the overheattemp >= currenttemp, goto out;

I.e if the temp is high than the set treshhold, stop mining completely and stop the thread?
Anything's possible. I could perhaps make a cutoff temperature over and above the overheat one.

I am also reporting that 2.0.0 works great with my setup. My 100+ lines of scripting for overclocking/monitoring/tuning the cards are now deleted and the fancy startup script I wrote was replaced by a one-liner Cheesy

MASSIVE UPGRADE VERSION 2.0 - Links in top post

Major feature upgrade - GPU monitoring, (over)clocking and fan control for ATI
GPUs.

Wow, this will be great if it works on my non-reference Gigabyte Super Overclock 5870 in a ViDock/netbook setup.  The Gigabyte OC Guru tool doesn't work in that scenario (doesn't see the card), and the Catalyst Control Center isn't available for it to use the OverDrive features, either.  So far, because the OC Guru doesn't work in this setup, I've had to use reference cards with OverDrive, only, if I want to overclock.

I just tested it on my desktop, and it overclocks the card just fine, so at least I know in advance that it doesn't matter whether it's a non-reference card or not. The real test is going to be if it also detects the card and can overclock it when plugged into my ViDock setup over at a friend's place.  I'll try to test this in the next few days.  Thanks for your work, I'll definitely be sending a donation if it works!
