MGS 5 the phantom pain, this is the game that I've spent the most time, there always something to unlock, building your base and the playability is the best.
Plants vs zombie 2 i think this is the popular games in Offline games.
My favorite offline games is Limbo

Best offline games for me has always be strategic games for me so that i can spend much time on it! Few i would like to mention like Command and Conquer, Age of Empires and Don't Starve! Each of them has unique game experience although C&C and AOE are almost of the same types only difference of old age and modern classical age.
Don't stave is one of the most time killing strategic game, also can be played online or via LAN! Looking at the game graphics you might not be willing to try it but if you don't you won't have to regret for it. It has got a lot of amazing features that you can even wonder.
Lastly i won't deny to mention Minecraft as i did spend hours playing it offline (but mostly i enjoyed playing online along with my friends). It's better offline when you are making something creative or else there are various kind of mods available that can bring new exciting feature in the game #cheers

I'ce played tons of Bards Tale. The Android port is really good. And the storyline is so funny, that even the so-so gameplay isnt spoiling the fun.
