You do have a reasonable argument to question the accuracy of the exact readings, however it is a fact that masks inhibit airflow and trap CO2. The only real question is how much. Would you agree a finger type oximeter would be a more accurate measure of the effect?

Here's what I would argue if I were on the masktard side:

The volume within the mask is a fraction of the likely total breath intake volume thus, even with 100% 'scavenging' of the recycled air within the mask, the dilution with full oxygen air which is breathed in through the mask make it 'safe'.

I've yet to hear a masktard make that argument.  It's probably way to technical for them...especially since they are oxygen deficient.  They have a leg up in that anything they argue which is pro-establishment is automatically credible.  No need to bother with pesky (and 'hard') issues like mathematics, engineering, logic, etc.

Exhaled air is already in the "danger zone" - it has nothing to do with the mask.

Why is it misleading?

I use gas detection devices on a regular basis.  While we use a calibration gas to set up the device and test it for accuracy, we often field test the device's alarm response by breathing into it.   With normally functioning lungs, the exhaled air should have only around 18% O₂ and CO₂ levels around 4% of the total volume.  If they were detecting 20.9% O₂ levels behind the mask, that would be cause for concern.  Whether intentional or unintentional what they are doing in these videos is very misleading.

Human beings must breathe oxygen to survive and begin to suffer adverse health effects when the oxygen level of their breathing air drops. These so-called experts who cannot even agree among themselves, are putting the health of citizens in danger and soon, the health and cognitive ability of our school children. "At concentrations of 16 to 19.5 percent, workers engaged in any form of exertion can rapidly become symptomatic as their tissues fail to obtain the oxygen necessary to function properly. Increased breathing rates, accelerated heartbeat, and impaired thinking or coordination occur more quickly in an oxygen-deficient environment," states the OSHA standards cited in the link below. The standards go further to clarify, 12 to 16 percent oxygen levels cause impaired attention, thinking, and coordination. Even in people who are resting. I do not trust ANY of these people to make decisions for my health and safety, nor the health and safety of our children. Do you? It is time to alert our local school boards and superintendents about the dangers our children will face if we require masks when they go back to school. And if you work for a company forcing you to wear a mask, show them this research and these links and citations. They are breaking OSHA health and safety protocols. They can order this unit for themselves and conduct their own test. DO NOT listen or trust these officials ever again. MORE LIBERTY LESS GOVERNMENT!
