Let moi summarize:

You will need to start a cult of custodians for your experiment since difficulty will only increase exponential thanks to BTC developers.

May I suggest you this very instructive book: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Canticle_for_Leibowitz  Tongue

Damn, what a pain in the ass it has been trying to make it work.

I'll try tomorrow (sunday). If I can't make it, screw this

What trouble are you having?  Setting up solo mining is very easy.  I thought you were using a couple GPU's?

I pointed my 19-20Ghs at my Bitcoin-QT .85 and it worked fine.  It leaked shares on block changes but the rest of the time it seemed to keep my hardware busy.
I was unable to generate the .bin's for any kernel. It took me a while to figure out that I had to do one at a time, i.e. disable card at the Device Manager. Then I made it, but the cards started mining at high voltage (wtf!?), risking to toast the GPUs or the PSU (which already happened before I bought the Corsair)

Finally, the miner isn't unable to connect to the rpcport of bitcoin, while it had no trouble when I solo mined 2 scrypt coins.

In the middle of this and to had to the mess, the wireless dongle crapped out.

Tomorrow I'll try again for the last time. If it works, I'll provide an URL and password for VNC viewer  Smiley

Mining solo is a perfectly valid choice which is quite underrated. I'm mining solo with my 6 usb erupter simply because I don't care about the small profit I would make with pool mining.
So I rather take my chances with solo mining. The biggest share I found so far is only 8.5M but I don't loose my hope, and it's fun to check every morning if there is a "surprise".
Obviously I'm also still fully contributing to the bitcoin network, whether I will mine a block or not.

What he should do is capture the miner session and live stream it so everyone can watch too  Grin

Why not you sell away your GPU and do 9900x payout on primedice.com. You still have 0.01% chance which is higher then what you are doing now Smiley

If you want to involve luck into mining sign in ozco.in and mine on POT. Yesterday my 400MH/s Lancelot found nice 2M share and paid 0.0028 BTC instead of 0.00000009 normal share...
Good luck.

With the cost of power, I think you should buy lottery other than do the solo mining, maybe you can be rich sooner. Grin

How much luck does one need to find a block now with that hashrate?
Good luck, and stay optimistic  Smiley
45 years on average, according to a bitcoin calculator  Grin

Does it consider future difficulty increase?

I don't think so, 45 years isn't long for 800Mh/S, I remember seeing like 3000 years for 3 USB Eruptor. After factoring the difficulty increment..

The PC is still downloading the blockchain via a crappy wireless connection, so I guess I'll only start Friday...
